Oxycontin sneaks up on you. I was prescribed oxy after surgery for 2 plates in my arm. And yes it was very painful. At the time I was 5 years sober and my sponsor said to be very careful if I was prescribed oxy. This is how fast it crosses the line between pain and addiction, 8 hours. Taking my prescribed dose at 11 p.m for the pain, no problem, at 7 a.m I took my prescribed dose and my brain went aaaaaaaaah numb. I flushed the rest of them down the toilette. 8 hours, oxy is great for horrific or end of life pain as Peter said, but it's a killer if you can't recognize that the pain level doesn't need oxy any more and can be managed with regular pain meds. Just a note: I'm 17 years sober now. Thanks for an awesome program.

I feel you I was mountain warfare school and tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus and after surgery obviously I had to have something for pain but it was a motherf$cker to come off of them after taking them for a couple months I mean really hard.
So glad Peter is getting people to watch this and getting attention for himself. He seems like such a solid dude and I’ve always been a fan of his
Problem is now doctors are scared to death to prescribe any sort of pain management. I just tore a bunch of tendons off the bone in my right arm and had to have surgery. I got prescribed a anti inflammatory used for gout. After 3 days of no sleep and terrible pain I got 2 days worth of pain meds. I had to live on the couch for 2 weeks before it was manageable to do everyday things. My wife felt bad for me but there was nothing she could do. The doctor refused to help. This has been happening all around the country. People are laid up with terrible pain after injuries or surgery and are getting no help. Thanks big pharma.

This is such an important conversation.
And it’s applicable to all mind-altering pharmaceuticals.
May our society realize and recognize the immense damage that these substances have been causing to both children and adults for decades. It’s an industry that robs both adult’s and children’s futures from them.
I was hit by a car in 2000. My first RX after getting discharged from the hospital was 250 325mg viccodin and a "good luck". No guidance, no oversight. Just "take as needed" with a minimum of 3 refills.
I was 15 years old. Suffice to say it set a tempo that was very difficult to get out of.
Thank you for shedding some more light on this.
Damn you could have bought a car with that
Peter Berg in "Collateral:" "Do we have a crime here?" Peter Berg on Ironclad: "Yes!"
Just had minor surgery a couple months ago. The Army gave me Ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and OxyContin. I was like no way I’m taking the OxyContin. Still surprised they even prescribed it. I had almost no pain.
Good for you, man. Its nuts, stay off that junk.
Darn bro I was in the Army for 10 yrs starting in 07 and even when my hip was torn off I never got OXYCONTIN. I did get 30mg OXYCODONE. Dudes were lucky to get maybe 5 vicodin or percocet for some knarly dental work. Always 800 mg IB Profin 😂
Oh and yeah those 30mg oxycodone had me hooked almost ruined my Army career but luckily I got clean and as much as I miss it and fought hard to stay in they did not want my bum hip anymore lol so I got my honorable and been clean since early 2015. I'll never forget me and buddy going to the officers latrine off and on throughout this one day we tooted 10 each! 😮 He is a Blackhawk pilot now lol. Anyways much love to ya and keep on going!
In 2003, I herniated a disc, and the doctor that I went to prescribed me 500 percoset. After a week of being constipated, I threw them away. Shit was crazy back then.
Nice work IRONCLAD and Andy Stumpf. Any time you can get Berg expounding on what he does. Awesome.
My state KY won a lawsuit against pharmaceutical company and part of the deal was that citizens of the state could not do the same
Jesus Christ
I have a friend from school who’s talented as hell in art music computers etc. His dad was military i believe SF possibly in Colorado. I feel bad about thoughts I had about his addiction to pain killers. He hit them hard after a surgery he had. He was again incredibly talented and at times his addiction effected work. I haven’t been in contact with him since he moved to Nebraska to fight for his kids. I truly hope A he got his kids back and B that he is clean and kicking it! Cool guy all the way around!
Great episode, thanks Andy. Keep up the good work.
Currently training for clinician levels of work. The push of pain meds is still out there. Its full regulatory capture
Sad my comment about the shot has been deleted. It is the same thing. People are dying while other people are getting rich.
Maybe the key to opioid addiction is how they make you feel as they wear off. I feel horrible and it only gets worse the longer I take them. The warm fuzzy feeling is less and less and the comedown is a little worse each day. And this is just for hydrocodone. I tried oxycontin 2 or 3 times and just wanted it out of my system 45 min after it kicked in.
Andy always delivers solid stuff. Been watching Cleared hot Podcast back to when they were only audio. Don't get your humor as much on these but super serious content THANK YOU, keep at
Just had a friend pass from 20+ years of opiates. Arm injury and Tommy John at 20. Dead at 42
Thankfully I never got a hold of OxyContin. Norcos were bad enough. Then when I ran out of those I was taking kratom which does basically the same shit. Needless to say I ended up in detox for a week and after a year and a half I haven’t taken any of that but I’m still on Suboxone. Some nasty shit. All of it.
Man YT really not liking this. The amount of ad interruptions is crazy. This corruption and greed is rampant and has continued behind the curtains and some portion always will. All about shareholders and share price and greed.
It was 27 yrs ago I went through that line in boot camp. Don't think I'll ever forget that mental picture of all of us rubbing our ass on the floor after the ass cheek shot 😂
You should check surgical equipments
How come a surgeon will only do surgery with X brand?
The series Dopesick did a better job at showing the progression of Oxy. How come no one talked about that considering it came out before this series Painkiller
Thanks Andy thanks Peter!
Thank you Dr. Billy Kronk.
Thank you for your service
Thank you.
Congratulation for this work. Without that, US its going in a terrible way!
I had surgery done when I was 15-16 had 3 pins put in my finger they gave me Percocet 5s that led too 10s then to the 30s all before I was 18 that went on for a little over 15 years took me down a dark then I found kratom..it's legal plant and helped a lot but if you take that to long you will go through the same cycle the only thing different about it is it's legal and can get it at a gas station or smoke shop and your head is a lot clearer...but you will still go through withdrawals I wouldn't wish the pain of any of this on anymore...(JUST TAKE TYLENOL IF THE DR GIVES YOU A PAIN KILLER ITS NOT WORTH IT)
Pete is the man good dude.
Peter is the man🎉🎉
Not defending the Government but from what I’ve seen the last 7-8 years it seems to have changed it’s gotten from what I’ve seen difficult to get prescription narcotics. Which is a good thing if we’re honest.
It’s a good thing for new prescriptions, it’s a really tough thing for people who are genuinely in need and/or have been on them for years. I had to cold turkey opiates more than once after years of use and it’s literal hell, and luckily even though I’m still in pain and have a minor disability from it, I refuse to take opioids and can make it through life without. That’s not the case with a lot of people.
@@DJJ81 I feel you man no bs I had my bout with them from numerous surgeries and I’m the same way I won’t touch them even though I live with pain, because of it.
@@renegadearmsfor sure. It’s horrific, and the pendulum def needed to swing back towards less written scripts and tighter regulation and care, but imo the govt went a little too far with the restrictions and it’s caused more problems than it solves. Mainly because of what drugs a lot of people turned to in the absence of their legit pain meds. It’s a shame this all happened because of greed
@@DJJ81 I agree because of it my mother n law who used to be paralyzed had has horrible pain each day had a hard time getting like come on man this lady isn’t trying to get pills, I just know as far as the military you got to be dying it seems to get anything which I don’t agree with their just needs to be balance as you were eluding.
It's not a good thing. Now people are using unregulated variably dosed adulterated street drugs and dying from the first use.
Great Podcast.
Great interview. You need to cool it on the commercials though.
the company pled "guilty".
Protect this man at all cost
Idk wtf the deal is but with depression nobody understands it or at least that I've met. Feels really lonely
Tons of people understand it. They just don't know how to help.

Let's gooooooo
The latest con is Tramadol.
Tramadol is junk, has been for a long time. Some people can actually catch a buzz from it, but for most people it’s just a good way to give yourself a seizure.
there is no such a thing as a non conspiracy guy, there is just ignorance on the subject. Dig deep and you'll find a conspiracy everywhere big money and huge power are involved
Love the show but holy commercials
Say you’re an 8 say you’re an 8

People were a lot better off when they could access regulated drugs. There's now a 900% increase in deaths from unregulated street drugs. The drugs all need to be treated like alcohol.
That doesn't even take account the amount of people using the self-check out line from being in unbearable pain.
Drug prohibitions benefit no one.
Not sure if anyone’s told you yet or not, but THEY DON’T GIVE A FCK! They don’t care about anyone’s health, don’t care if it ruins millions of lives, don’t care how much better life COULD be for everybody if we did things the right way… they DO NOT CARE. None of our cares, concerns, struggles, hardships, our families, our dreams, our lives.. none of that matters to them except as datapoints in their marketing algorithms and voting analytics so they can gain more wealth and power from us.
First admission of guilt. Lol. I’m not a conspiracy theorist. Lmao. Turd salad. Lol. In this day and age! The conspiracy theorists is the TRUTH teller!!!! WAKE THE F YO!!!👀👀👀👀👀🤔🤔🤔😳😳
watch the movie oxy-morons.
If andy had anymore ads he would be a nascar driver.
Is this channel Andy stumpfs new channel?
14th!!!
Hi, I enjoy your show, however, when you are promoting a product like the Montana knives, please either revise what you say about cooking. "If you are serious about cooking" that is an insult to people who care about cooking. People who cook for pleasure, people who are committed to cooking to make nutritious meals for their love ones and for themselves. How much more serious than that can be? Just because people don't have those knives, doesn't make them less serious. You owe every person that cooks an apology.
This podcast looks like A I.
Is oxy off the shelf? Or are they still addicting people who haven't died yet and continuing making a profit?
🫀 I love this and I'm a realist.
