I feed a blue heron every spring and summer. I love that bird he's my friend. We fish together everyday.
Very informative
Thanks

Just the video on herons I was looking for.
One of the coolest animals. They get hate from babies who can't handle nature
Very cool mini doc
I have one living on my pond
Thanks
Great little video!
Thank you so much
Terrific video. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! If you can share the video it really helps
I remember seeing one in my backyard years ago and it was the biggest bird I'd ever seen, especially when it flew away.
They do have a really surprisingly big wingspan.
Amazing footage! Wow that looks like a huge (do you know what type?) fish she caught at 2:30! Still, the heron looked to have swallowed that thing whole okay? It looked that the unlucky prey was still alive when swallowed!?
I wonder, does the large fish stand any slim chance of escaping or even damaging (hopefully no harming the bird) the heron’s skinny neck/stomach if eaten in that condition?? I would think the large fish would want to survive rather than end its whole life as a simple lunch!?
Yes Herons can swallow fish that big, and it’s probably alive while being swallowed. The fish dies after being digested in the stomach acid. I don’t think the fish could do any harm to Heron as the they have pretty strong neck muscles. I’m not exactly sure what kind of fish it is as Herons are found in a lot of different places.

it was a brown bullhead
When i see large birds i like to mimic calls or play vocalizations from youtube. They are very interested but are not fooled.
Haha, I do the same thing when I see geese
This is an excellent video 👍.
Thanks

Great Video ~ but some misinformation about the Great Blue Heron being the largest bird in North America ~ The whooping crane and Sandhill Cranes are the largest birds in North America, measuring 52 inches tall, with a wing span of up to nearly 7 feet. Great blue herons stand up to 46 inches tall, with a wing span of up to 6 feet.
I appreciate the feedback!
Lovely job!
Thank you

The great blue heron is the bird that was featured on Bombay Hook quarter. I've seen these birds in the creeks, lakes, ponds and beaches.
Yea they’re quite common
this is super informative. I like the editing too. Something about salamanders would be cool, not many people care about them
I’ve been thinking about doing a video on amphibians. The only problem is it’s really hard to get good footage of them
@@michigansanimals9341 definitely true. Maybe underwater of the eggs? But that's not inclusive... Good luck
what is the difference between a great blue heron and a gray heron?
Would you consider doing one on invasive species?
Mabey depending on what it is.

Had to bury one of these today something attacked it and crushed it's windpipe and it landed on my porch
Nice!!!
I thought Sand Hill Cranes were larger than the Blue Heron.
Certain subspecies do get larger but, Blue Herons are generally larger
Dominant
Recessive
California condor is the largest bird in North America.
Yea, that’s a mistake on my part, thanks for telling me
The largest bird in north america is the California Condor. Not the great blue heron, just as an fyi.
Nice catch
Breeds in north America
Cool
Resides in south
They live year round in some parts of North America
