This is my very first subscribed channel and first comment on UA-cam. I am potentially moving to Iowa with my American husband (we are currently living in Okinawa) in 3 months and as an island girl, I was very nervous about moving to start a new journey (especially not surrounded by ocean 😂) but I am so glad I found this video! It’s very motivating and made me less anxious. I also loved to hear opinions from both of you as we are very close age. Thank you so much for all the resources and sharing your life in the US! 🧡
You two seem very happy and content. Your child has a bright future being multicultural and bilingual. The world is getting smaller and will need people like Rhea. Keep up the good work.
This is so relatable. My husband and I just had our first child (Aiya❤) and we really want her immersed in Japanese culture as much as possible. Luckily, we have a weekend Japanese school here she can start attending at 2, and her dad will only speak to her in Japanese. There is definitely more money to be made here so we might stay until retirement, or leave early if Aiya decides to choose her Japanese citizenship.
Both countries have good and bad. One of the good things in Japan is that people are respectful, considerate and ordery. In the US, you can speak mind in working environment. As you stated in the video, Ryoji is making more money here than you can do in Japan. To put Rhea chan in Japanese school for summer enriches herself and helps her in finding her root. She could have more choices in the future. My younger daughter received education in the US through high school and attending college in Tokyo and has decided to work in Japan. My kids were complaining of Sat. school, but now they figured it was beneficial to them.
I think it’s so wonderful your daughter decided to stay in Japan! I’m excited for Rhea to make her choice one day, too. We will keep trying to show her both cultures as she grows up. 😊
Please speak English to her and let daddy only speak Japanese to her. She will learn to switch between both quickly or teach her both words at one time for example, dog inu. My children are fluent in both. Around 3/4 years old they learn by themselves not to mix them .

Wow! It sounds like we really have similar situations! I would love a Japanese school beginning at 2! How wonderful. We are on the same path 😊

I am a new Subscriber from the Northeast part of India. Beautiful family, God bless.
Welcome!! Thanks for joining us ☀️
