Ebay scouts, I imagine that's what car boots are full of these days, and in return, the car boot sellers hike the prices up , no real winners just a money rat race full of competitors trying to out wit and deceive one another
I used to love to do a car boot sale but the pushy, grabby, aggressive dealers who start rooting through your stuff when you havent even set up made me give up. I like that you are polite and ask if it's ok to look at stuff - there are others who do not ask and rip stuff open, decide not to buy it and leave it in a mess...I'd rather donate stuff to a charity shop or sell it myself on Ebay than put up with the fighting dealers any day of the week.
I did my first ever car boot and yeah exactly this. I never done one again. People turn up too early before you’ve even set up ripping through everything with zero respect. After they’ve all been and done that your so stressed because by the time it opens your still not ready everything is a mess because they’ve ruined your day. People like me were going into it for more of the enjoyment rather than the money. But it wasn’t enjoyable.

It’s like “how dare you sell the item for its actual value! You sell it for cheap, so I can sell it for 20 online and make some money” Like come on man.

The resellers who come early you tell them a price they then pic up 3 and ask will you this for X discounted amount. I always say no. always make better money saying no. Cos someone who wants it for themselves will always come along...or they come back pay full price or come back and you already sold it.

Every time i do a car booty i always post it note all my items with ebay prices this keeps the nippy resellers away then when proper buyers come along looking for something they genuinely need i just inform them those post it notes are just to keep away the leechy resellers lol .... I hate car boot sales now. Full of scoundrels. Back in the early 90's we used to sell. Old geezer used to set up near us selling jewelry. Horrid old fella, right old misery. He went to the toilet and left his young grandson in charge when he came back little fella had sold a gold bracelet for 3 quid instead of 300!! Lolz.

I would have liked to have brought more stuff off him to be fair, that's why I took my time as I was looking. But the camera has already sold for £60 so can't grumble too much, I guess 🤣 everyone knows the rule, if you put it down, it's fair game! Is it worth bringing in high value items to carboots as well as your usual stuff or will the high value stuff never sell? The way I see it, if you are a collector of things, then surely seeing collectibles in person, knowing exactly what you are getting in person and can verbally discuss a price, is much better than an ebay listing for example. Though i guess the traffic wouldnt be anywhere near as high
Yes it just takes longer for collectors who are willing to pay collector prices to show up. Lots of collectors use carboots to collect at a cheaper price 👍🏻

The one thing i hate is the group's that surround the van. Had so much stolen because they come at you in their droves. Resellers are not as bad as them. I have heard some resellers offer more money than what the seller asked for. Carboots are more horrendous now than ever!

This boot sale is good, but I agree with the many comments about the dealers and resellers fighting to get to your items before you've put them out spoils it. With regards to electricals, you're quite right to ask if it's working. There's some shit sellers out there who would sell their grandmother given the chance.

Because they haven’t even set up yet, the whole place is full of eBay re sellers getting in your way while you’re trying to set up. Wasting time looking for ways to get you down on price while also searching a re sale price in front of you. And oh yeah there’s 10 of them all doing the same thing. Not allowing you to set up. If it opens for traders at 6am they will be there at 5 am

That’s why I’ve stopped reselling the few bits I find. Just find stuff for myself now.

Because they haven’t even set up yet, the whole place is full of eBay re sellers getting in your way while you’re trying to set up. Wasting time looking for ways to get you down on price while also searching a re sale price in front of you. And oh yeah there’s 10 of them all doing the same thing. Not allowing you to set up. If it opens for traders at 6am they will be there at 5 am
