Super keen to see how this restoration goes. My parents had a VG 2 door Pacer when I was a kid! Seeing your VF has bought back some memories , especially the dash and engine bay areas! Keep up the great work 😊
My last full restoration (on a 1967 Mercury Cougar), took me in total TEN years to complete. And this was on a car with almost no rust to repair. But in my case, life got in the way many times so it was not worked on continuously. Wish you the best on the Pacer resto, and I am going to enjoy watching it progress!
Awsome stuff! my grandfather had a vf or it could have been a ve, way back, when he passed i went through the garage and found random parts like window wipers, door handles, badges, hub caps, was quite exciting actually. He never threw anything away, i even found some ford xd parts still in their bag unopened.
I had a VF Valiant back in the day, loved it…….. 225 “leaning tower of power” …….. wish I still had it. I have just subscribed as it seems like a dream for me. 😊
Massive congratulations on 10k mate, you deserve way more than that but to hit that milestone shows your dedication and determination for what you do, one of the best in the game, keep it up mate!
Beening a pacer and their rare now be nice to see it restored back in its factory paint colour dosnt have to be a mint job but bring a pacer back to life is 💯👍
My old man's first car was an ex taxi black vf sedan with slant 6 ..... I missed out on ever driving it ..... :( ..... Can't wait for you to restore this car ...... g'day from melbourne .... :)
Hi DJ you have a massive task ahead of you with the old Val' mate. If I were you the first thing I would do before you start cutting the floor out is to build a solid frame/jig to bolt the car onto, the car needs to be supported and measured so that every thing fits when you have the floor welded back in. It looks like a fun project It would be great to give you a hand if I wasn't 5000k's away to the East. Cheers from Wellington NZ. Phil
Once you start getting into it I'm sure your subscriber count will progress upwards faster. As one of your much older subscribers and a multiple past Valiant owner I'm very much looking forward to revisiting as a spectator the Journey you're undertaking, and I'm sure a lot more old Mopar guy's will come along for the ride when they become aware of what you're doing. Don't be shy of seeking advice from the old brigade if you need it as I'm sure if not immediate subscribers, you'll get a lot of lurkers watching. Good luck with it.
Well done DJ. You may already know "a man and his troopy" he like you works in the gold fields in W.A. and goes around finding rusting gold. He may be able to help. It could be a 2 channel collaboration build on a vehicle just an idea. Cheers Michael
Good stuff DJ, gonna be a great build. Just a bit of (possibly useless) info. Some bracing inside the body across the pillars might be a good idea before you lift it. Had a VG Pacer that kind of collapsed when the front door pillars rusted out in the lower half. Cheers mate Greg
Might be worth getting it to the farm as is. Lifting it up onto trailer with forklift etc as making a rolling chassis will chew up time you don't have.
Hi DJ hey good on ya buying the farm with buildings to keep your vehicles under cover and shedspace to work on them any progress is a step in the right direction, good luck with the pacer project, look forward to future installments Cheers moke
I subscribed now, having seen some of your previous content, and as an ex WA and worked in the goldfields. But the Pacer got me in, got to see this build. My first car was a VE ute, sadly rolled and wrecked it. My dad had a VC Regal, it was a very original car. My dream is to own some other Mopar, maybe a 2-door hardtop, VF, Dodge Dart, whatever, I think the Chrysler by Brazil looks the coolest. 10k is well deserved, well done. Maybe you should timelapse your video editing out the boring bits and voiceover the actual detail of what is going on and why.
To me it looks perfect for a full custom build, new custom floor pan, nice modern suspension and drive train, restore interior and exterior to original.
Two years, and some. I've been on my AP5 for two years now that is no where near as far gone and I still have a way to go. Not to put a damper on you, I am looking forward to seeing this build. But unless you have a lot of donor bits and nothing else to do, you will need more than two years. Glad to hear you want to keep the slant though 👍
My first car was a VF Regal, when I got it, it was in better condition in that the body was straight and paint was good, floor was in similar condition and it had no drive train.
Pacer Vf had a higher compression head . An 5/half inch rims plus front sway bar . Run the same size tyres all round an the same shocks all round . They did sit a bit lower in the rear which made it handle good . Don’t jack the back as it will handle like crap 💩 most VF pacers had disc brakes on the front an a 323 diff mine had a LSD the sticker is on the driver side door post .
That'll take a while to get this valiant done, but it'll be a fun journey seeing it come along, as it was with the cressida. Hopefully it all goes well, as well as it can with how crusty the old pacer is. And been here for a good while myself, since around 700-800 subscribers, you've come a long way to where you are now too, all been good viewing from you.
"just a quick one", bit of a play on words perhaps... don't forget to brace the frame before cutting out the floor, replacement floors are never a perfect fit, so you need a straight frame to work off enjoy your time off young man
Looking forwards to the build mate, will be an amazing accomplish if you can knock it out in 2 years. Btw I wear the hell out of my Baka Yurltu tshirt, could do with a Pacer one ;)
She major job 🙀owned a dark blue VF Pacer in 1980 factory original but 14 x7 alloy spit fire mags with T/A tyres an modified exhaust . It had the black trim . Iv seen way better ones then this by a mile in wreckers an the tip 🤦🏼. As the steering box goes the lower bolt holding the box to the rail sits low there 3 bolts the button bolt is the problem as it traps dirt a rubbish . Once repaired you need to drill a hole in front of that bottom bolt to let water drain an maybe one behind this is one of reason they crack an every time you grease the front end blow the rail out clean
I'm guessing as you cleared the summit of the Cressida, you'd though you'd be able to take the chance to work on some smaller projects. But alias the Fog of UA-cam lifted and have given you the Pacer, to which to start the next treacherous accent. I'm pretty sure most of us here will all come along for next 18 month to 2 years, to try and provide moral support in getting to the Top. 👍👍 Here's to good luck to making it to the top.
Hey if I can restore a car u can 😂 nah I understand at least in my case I have some parts cars that I can see how they go together but Man U are doing great good luck with the creek bed pacer it’s a lot nicer then the creek valiant I found
Awesome car mate, I would love to have the opportunity to restore one. all the best. and congratulations on 10000 subs. Hopefully one day I will have the same. cheers
Great stuff mate, have you thought of getting it blasted and epoxied to truly see where all the bad bits are? Fresh start that way and epoxy will preserve the good bits? 🤔👍👍

Love the daihatsu Rocky in the background
That will become the farm ute, teach the kids how to drive in it and move the hay around the farm.
Looking forward to this one , and I have been using Hemi Performance for probably over 35 years, excellent

Not really a Mopar guy, but I do have a soft spot for the Aussie Chryslers as they were pretty cool looking and bloody quick for what they were.
Can’t wait for you to get stuck in with this project 💪🏻
Its gona be a good one.

Congrats on the 10k mate! You deserved it- looking forward to seeing this thing all done up.

Cheers mate, i am loving the farm and sheds so much already.
One of the best looking early Val's in my opinion. Cheer's JV

Just a bit of fun. How about polishing a bit of the paint work to see if it will come up to Pacer red again?
Great to see a progress report on the Pacer. Keeping the wog chariot dream alive.😅
Are you referring to the Marrickville Mercedes?
Congrats🎉on the 10k subs. Well done
Thank you so much 😀
Lets us know when you need a hand mate and Dan and I will be on our way. Looking forward to seeing this at a show for sure.

Graham is great. If you need it he could also help you if you find a bush wreck tank or need to get a radial engine going :)
Hehe funnily enough we have already been on a tank hunt in the bush.
His EJ will be great when it's finished, Penola Rose will look really good on it.
Why not look for a rolling chassis and put the Marrickville Mercedes on that for transportation?
Not a bad idea. Im sure i know where there is a 1 tonner chassis.

The Pacer !!!
Ill try and help you out after all these derbys mate haha
A car just left outside ( not in a creek) for s similar length of time here in the UK would be more rotten/sized than this!
