This performance by Kesarbai - who was primarily a Khyal Singer - is breath taking. Probably the best Babul Mora or for some listeners one of the best! just listen to the intense emotion this amazing vocalist conveys. One could listen to this piece countless times and every time get one's mind, heart and soul transcend the material existence!

A great Bhairavi by the all time greatest female singer of India. But Babul mora ? My vote for the bare sadness and acceptance of the inevitable in the composition, without any ornamentation, depicted in 2:58 minute flat by KL Saigal.

While listening to this wonderful piece, comes in mind the singing ofJOGI MAT JAA (not in a recordng but in concerts in Kolkata and at Patna} by our most revered PT. ONKARNATH THAKURJEE. Both singers' souls got amalgamated with the pathos of the lyrics and carried the listeners with them till the end and beyond! Both shall be remembered as long as listeners of Hindustani classical music would survive.

Someone has commented that is perhaps the best rendering of Babul Mora. It depends upon one's preferences. Kesarbai's version is very good indeed but there are remarkable performances of this song by other singers.
