- The Genesis Electrified G80, a new electric large luxury car, earns a TOP SAFETY PICK+ award in the crash test from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
To earn either of the Institute’s two awards in 2022, a vehicle must earn good ratings in six IIHS crash worthiness evaluations, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It must also be available with a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.
For the lower-tier TOP SAFETY PICK, at least one good or acceptable headlight system must be available. For the higher-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+, good or acceptable headlights must be standard across all trims.
The Electrified G80 meets all the requirements for the higher-tier award. All trims come with acceptable-rated LED projector headlights and a standard front crash prevention system that earns superior ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian tests.

Our 2021 G90 5.0 recently was in a major accident and was totaled. My wife and son were in the car. They hydroplaned at 60 mph on the interstate and ran off the road hitting two large trees.
Great news they walked away with is neither of them receiving a bump, bruise, cut, or ache/pain. The tow truck driver side it was nothing less than a miracle.
So, she is already driving the 2024 E Supercharged G90, and it is beyond amazing!
Great job to the Genesis design team. We also have a G80 and a G70.😊

Impressive results. Those curtains BETWEEN the passengers is such a great safety feature and addition... I think that's underrated..
Airbags between passengers are not a great technology. Even Chevrolet Traverse has that function.

@@DAEGUcitizen06 국뽕이 또….. 센터콘솔측 에어백은 그리 고급 기술이 아닙니다. 원가절감을 심하게 하는 회사나 옵션에 따라 차별을 두는 회사의 경우 없을수 있으나 그리 비싸지도 않습니다. 물론 2000만원대 차량에 넣기엔 조금 무리가 있으나 5000만원 정도의 차량이면 조금씩 들어가기 시작합니다. 옵션 넣으면 1억 넘어가는 차에는 당연히 있어야하죠.

That first test is quite new and after they added it it made cars much tougher

It's one of the NEWER tests but definitely not new. The prior generation G80 or Hyundai Genesis Sedan (2015) and the Tesla Model S have obtained the highest scores ever on that test.

@@keithshayle7027 I would like you to know not to try to avoid the crash between trucks or heavyweight vehicles when you realize you would not make it not damaging the car while driving in your vehicle. Although it's got the TSP+, which is a highest award existing in IIHS, its way of absorbing the force of impact is rather dangerous also considering the vehicle is electrified. In small overlap crash between heavyweight vehicles when in this car, there is high likelihood that the crumple zone gets fully crumpled in a blink of the time and begins to damage the cabin, giving intense amount of force to you in crumpling of the cabin, narrowing your survivability in such crashes as a result. i highly recommend you to slam on the brakes hard while trying to make the entire surface of the front of your car to hit against the object coming towards you while hitting back side of your head on the headrest behind you aswell, if you felt you're definitely not going to avoid the collision.

On euroncap I know they always test the base package, in this car there is no base pack without safety features, it's an expensive luxury sedan. 🤣
Genesis safety is the same across same model as far as I know. The differences are related to features
The features are probably collision prevention so it doesn't matter

Crash test one of those new Chinese cars. Chery, Haval, JAC etc. These cars have randomly just came out of nowhere and got pretty popular. But I’ve always questioned their manufacturing levels.

@@Epikhii 다리가 깔아뭉개지면 화재나 후방추돌같은 2차피해에 대비하기 어려워지고, 대쉬보드가 밀려들어온다는건 정상적인 충격흡수방법이 아님. 탑승객에게 영향을 미칠 만큼 차에 변형이 온다면 차라리 고무로 만든 차를 타고 다니는게 더 충격흡수에 낮지 않을까?

Why passenger doesn’t get Center air bag? Most car companies focus mainly on driver, but usually loved ones sitting in back
Are you referring to front or rear passenger? For obvious reasons, since it's a 5-seater you wouldn't be able to engineer that while the center seat can potentially be occupied. If it's the front passenger you're referring to, only one airbag is sufficient because it's designed to keep the driver and passenger from knocking against themselves during sideways movement.
Center airbags are on like 2% of cars, way ahead of its time.
Coz 98% of the accident the casualty of the injuries is the driver and the next beside....
Plus the empty seats automatically airbag is off

Kinda hard to differ if the cars is good or bad. Only the last test I am certain the car is good, but first test: did the dummy still has functioning legs? What with test 2: the door did touch the legs...

Excellent video and excellent performance from the car. It does make you wonder why Rolls Royce don't have any crash tests done, at least I haven't been able to find any. Maybe they have something to hide? Not sure why they are allowed to be sold without a crash test though... Happy to be proven wrong... anyone???

Center console air bag? Really? When did those start coming out?
@@베드로-j6r that’s kinda cool. I have a friend that was hit on the side and they hit the center console, they broke their hip and them being jolted around the center console they also tore something in their esophagus and had internal bleeding. That’s kinda cool manufacturers are now building something to hopefully lessen that.

genesis... believe me! but can you see for yourself what the problem is? take the car from the dealer for a test but I also suggest the Acura TLX!!! mega car.

Genesis is based on Europian luxury (Bentley), while Lexus is based on their Japanese luxury philosophy. Lexus have better reliability and build quality, but Genesis have better modern tech and interior.
Anyway We can't buy both.

@Mario Lim 그 부분은 제조사의 선택입니다. 말씀하시는게 맞다면 다른 회사는 못하는 걸까요? 스몰 오버랩 영상 찾아보시면 볼보처럼하는데가 있고 안하는데가 있습니다. 볼보처럼 하는게 맞다면 다들 볼보처럼 할 수 있습니다. 다만 볼보처럼 진행 방향으로 나갔는데, 바로 앞에 낭떠러지거나 벽이 있다면? 그건 2차 피해가 아닐까요? 제조사들이 선택을 하는건 스몰 오버랩 테스트같은 상황 이후에 2차 피해를 나름의 기준으로 해석을 해서 이뤄지는 것이지, 기술력의 문제가 아닙니다.

LA에서 처음 쿠페 차량 공개되었을 때부터 보고 차량 주문해서 샀습니다. 그런데 쿠페 절대 사지마세요. 겉모습만 보고 사시면 안됩니다. 비싼 차를 왜 삽니까? 차값에서는 차량의 안전비용도 포함되는 겁니다. GV80쿠페 2대 구입해서 신랑이랑 나눠서 타고 다니는데, 제가 받는 쿠페가 문제가 많습니다. 의자가 시동이 꺼진 상태에서 지 맘대로 움직이고, 매일 운전하는 차가 완전 방전되어 A/S 센터에 들어갔는데... 그것도 한번은 제가 정비센터에 가서 차량 점검 해달라고 우겼고, 한번은 렉카차에 실려서 갔는데, 현대에서 문제를 못찾겠다고 합니다. 문제를 못찾아서 차량은 정상이라고 합니다. 이게 말이 됩니까? 현대에서 급발진된 차량 한대도 인정 안하고, 모두 운전자 과실로 밀어붙인다면서요. 정말 돈이 아깝습니다. 이제는 다시는 현대차 구입 안할겁니다. 이건 소비자 농락이지요. 원인을 못찾으면 정상이라니..... 처음 차 계약할 때 어찌나 친절하게 전화오던지.. 그런데 차량이 방전되고 이상하게 움직인다고 했더니 아무도 책임지는 사람이 없습니다. 오히려 운전자 과실로 몰고 있습니다. 저는 운전 경력 20년입니다. 이러다 차량 급발진 하면 저면 운전 부주의로 세상하직하는 것 아닌가 걱정입니다. 현대 정말 살인 기계를 1억이나 받고 팔고 있는 겁니다. 현대는 안전에 대한 책임이 없습니다. 차 팔고 나면 끝이네요. 차량 구입자가 얼마나 불안해 하면 타는지는 상관하지 않네요.

I just don’t like the shape of the grill which the bottom is pointed down. It would look better if the bottom of the grill is flat. Everything else looks fine.
