Nice do love a screen of bamboo makes, such a lovely noise. My best success was from root cuttings almost 100% whereas the success rate on the node cuttings, was vary variable dependent on type. I trimmed off the bottom 1/4 of potbound roots , spread those out into LG old seed tray covered with compost and watered great results! Will film it so you can see 🌱🌱🌱

For running bamboos I had great success trimming the bottom 1/4 of roots, from the bottom of pots and spreading roots out in Xl seed tray cover with compost 🙌 the potted boo is also thankful of the space with new fresh compost on the bottom of the old pot

@@TheWildlandsGarden Still pretty cold here in London & my lettuce that I put out in the warm spell have now gone caput but the pak choy & broccoli have hardened up unexpectedly well. Loving seeing my raspberries & strawberries spread as well & have just taken some sprouts off my red currents to propagate. Love it. Unfortunayely, I'm looking at having to abandon my garden & all the trees I have brought on as I will be moving countries soon. However I have the pleasure of starting a new garden ahead of me

There's, an update in the last video, but long short best results, was from root cuttings. The cane cuts I'd not put the effort in again on running bamboo. But better results on clumpers
Correct, for running best results from root cuttings, clumping not to bad on node cuttings but also good on root cuttings..... For root cuttings lift a potted bamboo and use secateurs to cut of 1/3of the roots. Repot the bamboo in a bigger pot with fresh soil. Then spread out the roots in a, flat large seed tray, cover with an inch of soil and keep moist. Once shoots, emerge cut 2 shoots of root and pot those on. Recover the remaining roots in the tray as more will come! Also for runners in the ground you can pull roots and use the same method.
OK... so all bamboos failed (as one would expect from trying to propagate temperate running bamboos from culm pieces), but no mention of why (because it wouldn't work!). Now you're trying to propagate from pieces of roots? I can pretty much assure you that won't work either. You need rhizome sections with roots, and buds for future development, and ideally some culms with leaves as well.
The root propagation has been excellent. Really great results and of course need at least 1culm or emerging nodule. But the method I've now perfected has yielded many new plants. It's all about trying new things, don't be so negative. Gardening is not absolute and there's many factors. Nodule cuttings worked well on clumping types too

Hi. Thanks for sharing. Is there an update for this? How did the water propagation method work in comparison to the soil method?
On running bamboo it was poor and the best method was from root cuttings. Had awesome results there! Will have to show you on a video

Phyllostachys cant be propogated this way, im not sure if he has updated, but I guarantee those cuttings won't grow whatsoever
