One of the funniest if not THE funniest moments on this fantastic show. The mystified look on Bartlet's face when he says "I wasn't supposed to take them both?" cracks me up every single time. Then the way he tries to stay involved in the conversation despite being so high he had his own air traffic controller just makes my sides ache. Brilliant acting from a superb actor and perfect support from the rest of the gang makes this a perfect TV moment.
Oh man, this series. It could make you pump your fist with excitement, it could make you grip the arms of your chair with tension, it could make you wipe your eyes with sadness and, in scenes like this, it could make you split your sides laughing!

This could be my favourite scene from the series! Everything about it is perfect! I love the little smile shared by C.J. and Sam when he gets a hug from the President! I also love how grumpy Toby is about getting his hug!
A couple things: 1) i love how some of the staffers exchange muted smiles of amusement over the fact that the old man was stoned. 2) Its a good thing the country didn't come under attack while he was under the influence. It might have been a mess.

I don't remember much of the after math, but apparently I was talking about how much I loved everyone, offered to buy the doctors and nurses lunch, and told my mom I was going to buy her a new car. Worst part of it all is that my Father, great guy that he is, decided it would be good to film clips of this on his phone.
Man for being the OLD guy on the set he looks pretty AOK there. I say this with all the respect in the world for NOT wishing that Charlie would have the struggles it seems he does but WOW getting back to regular life has given back a ton of years to Martin.

One of my subordinates took this exact same cocktail (plus an anti-inflammatory) after falling off a ladder. She wasn't loopy like this, but very upset that she couldn't stay awake as if she was somehow failing the rest of us. I took a look at her prescription and asked how the hell she wasn't comatose (unlike the president here, her doc told her to take all three pills). It took everybody in the room loudly ordering her to bed before she got over being upset.
I miss John Spencer. Such an amazing man and actor. And the bloopers from this scene are hilarious 😊 Other little known fact. Rob Lowe grew up down the street from the Sheens. They were friends and neighbors.
This one and the one in season 4 just before the Bartlet - Ritchie debate and they're having a quick fire q&a in the oval, and the president bets the senior staff that Toby cant stay quiet if he gives a bad answer, cracks me up every time.
