Mazda 3s are FANTASTIC cars. Especially the 2010-2013 model they are beautiful and have awesome reliability ratings. I’ve seen many for sale with over 270k miles running and driving fine. 2004-2009 are amazing as well but the looks of 2010-2013 are awesome

The 2012/2013 also have the SkyActiv engine, and they’re more powerful than the older ones while also getting better MPGs!

I love them. They are more reliable than many other Japanese cars outside of Toyota. The newer ones with the Skyactiv engines use Toyota's transmission.

The Check Engine light on the Subaru is probably because it has a catless downpipe, which would also explain the loud exhaust and turbo noise.

Hey I bought my 2013 Mazda 3 from Copart and it’s been the best car I ever bought. Mine was front ended and that was the only headache I learned with this gen Mazda series is that the frame is very weak or better said lacking support in the front. So even though my car didn’t look horrible it was frame Ben t pretty good and it took some time to pull and chop and weld. But after that best car for the value I ever had super great mpgs. Long range. Affordable insurance etc.. great car. And they have ok resell value with low milage… and only mechanical thing I have learned or ran into is the pcv valve is faulty on the skyactive motors so you have to add a oil catch can and clean the upper manifold and lifter / injector area every once in a while. Other than that awesome affordable go getter

Sometimes, a starter that is just starting to go out, will hit a spot it won't where it won't start, but a jump will get it beyond that spot. Also, you can sometimes tap on the starter with a good stout wrench while turning the key (a two person job) will get a bad starter to start a few more times as well. I had one once that would start 9 times out of 10 or better and then need another bump until that trick no longer works or you get tired of it and replace the starter.

I feel like the Journeys could have been a decent vehicle if they never had the 4 cyl 4 speed auto option. The pentastar is the only way to go on these if you're in the market for these and they come with the 6 speed auto.

Most people are more familiar with the RX series than other Mazda models. Ford contracted with them back in the day and supplied them with engines, chassis, etc. The Ford Ranger and Escort of the 90s and early 2000s were essentially rebadged Mazdas. Their engines were known for their reliability and durability. I had a 08 Milan with the 2.3 L which had 260 K on the original engine and transmission when I sold it years ago.

Could you check out that blue 10th gen corolla at 5:53? Couldn't tell if it was wrecked or just a loose bumper, but those are great cars and they still go for good money these days.

  • @jmonte5899
    @jmonte5899 9 місяців тому

That first Mazda really is pretty rough. Those electric windows though, sometimes rocking the switches back and forth gets them going, like you found out. However, when that doesn't work, you can try slamming the door shut while holding the switch. I had one like that, and after it started going down, it worked just fine.
And the foggy headlights, but spray gets them looking pretty good again. Just don't let the bug spray dry or they'll get really sticky until you get them cleaned off again.

i have a 2012 skyactiv i love the car gets great gas the only time it left me stranded was when the drive belt shredded on my way home vacation. But was able to get it to a hotel and get a new belt on and get home thanks to my dad driving home at the same time. My only gripes are the lack of power with being a 2.0 N/A with like 155 HP from factory but probably more like 113 after the years. Honestly id recommend it but id go for the newer models with a little more HP if it were my choice.

well all i can say i bought a 2007 Mazda 3 5 years ago for 600 knowing i was going to have to do a trans im a mechanic and been a gm guy my hole life and i thought it was going to be a nightmare the motor is a 2.3 and its a automatic and once you remove all the plastic stuff and air cleaner box there's actually all kinds of room and is super easy to work on i actually pulled the trans out the top with my cherry picker in my drive way car had 120 thousand when i got it i got a used 70 thousand mile trans for 500 i still have the car it know has 200 thousand on it still going strong haven't had to do no wheel Barings i did replace ball joints when doing the trans i have to say one of the easy front wheel drive cars to work on and they are pretty fast for what they are and they take corners really good one down side are strut mounts if you don't replace them the car becomes a rattle box other then that never had a problem with the 2.3 motor in 5 years so far and it don't leak or burn a drop of fluids if i was ever to find another one dirt cheap i would want it to be a manual tho

The Mazda 3 is a fun little car especially if you have a manual but the automatic is ok too

Ford and Mazda had a working relationship for a long, long time - the original run of Rangers were just rebadged B-series pickups from Mazda all the way from '93 to 2011. The first two generations of Mazda3's were built on the same platform as the Ford Focus, and thus they use FoMoCo parts (which are readily available). Heck, the Duratec engines (which evolved into what is now EcoBoost) were based on Mazda's L-series engine.
I have a Gen 1 Mazda3 with over 200k miles on it (have owned it for 10 years, starting at 127k miles) and it's still going strong. Cheap parts, easy to work on, and it just keeps going. I'm gonna drive it until the wheels fall off.

Randy Mazda's are phenomenal cars. My dad was a Mazda tech for many years and he worked in a dealership but also sold at GM Cadillac Chrysler and Honda. And he used to always say that Mazdas rarely came into the shop because they never broke down. They would come in for services but very few repairs. Parts for those Mazdas are not that expensive. This is not a German vehicle they're made in japan.. they're actually right up there with toyota.

I like a good looking car as much as anyone. However, the older I get, the less I care what a vehicle looks like so long as I bought it that way, it serves the purpose I bought it for, and got a great deal on it. Now if I bought something in perfect condition and it ends up with a dent or scratch later, it drives me nuts and my eyes go straight to the damage every time.

Heck with the roof other than scuffing off loose paint in the pockmarks and shooting those spots with some DupliColor.
Maybe sell the performance exhaust and put something a little more stock back on it so I don't have to listen to the Drone. On the other hand Subaru exhausts are farghin expensive. 😅
