Koala gets prosthetic foot in world first in Australia

A five-year-old koala in eastern Australia has received the world's first prosthetic foot specially designed for the marsupial, from a local dental prosthetist. The male koala named Triumph was born without a right foot and had struggled to walk and climb. He was rescued in 2017 by veterinarian nurse Marley Christian, who has since been taking care of her at the Friends of the Koala centre in New South Wales. She had been looking for solutions to Triumph’s missing foot, until Jon Doulman, a local dentist, came up with a boot-like design suitable for the koala.

Sad Tomato Triumph was born without his foot. It's a very rare occurrence. I'm Triumph's American mother. I adopted him awhile ago. I had to. He stole my heart and won't give it back! I call him my Angel Boy.💖🐨
