This is the trail I grew up on. The most underrated trail in Newfoundland. I hope this video brings the trail the attention it deserves. Watch all the way through for 3 separate epic drone montages. Thanks everyone !
OMG loved every minute of this video. I am moving to Nfld in 2022. First went there in 2003 fell head over heels in love with the place. Then came back in 2018 for two weeks. I have made the decision to move there. Something about the island, the land, the people, I feel like I belong there. I plan on travelling from one end to the other seeing EVERYTHING. I may never leave that is my mind set right now. I will need to decide where to plant my feet and live. But my heart is there. Love it, love it, love it, thanks for the great video.
Great video..!! Home sick now... lol. I grew up in Hare Bay next town down from Gambo and we hung out either back in the woods or running the shore line... running, jumping, climbing the rocks and of course on the ice pans. I had to laugh when you said... its a wonder we all didn't drown. ...lol. Again, Great video... Thanks.
Thanks for informing people about this trail and the fossils! I spent a lot of my childhood around that coastline as well as a kid growing up in Little Catalina. I’ve brought people along on several occasions since becoming aware of how special this place is! It should never be taken for granted that’s for sure!
Just watched this video. It was one of your best. Drone footage and music were over the top awesome. Funny how we didn’t die as kids playing like this. And now the kids and young adults piss their pants if you hurt their feelings with just words. Lol. Great work as usual Troy.
You have a good heart and means well.....keep up the good work. I really like the drone footage of the cave area and Little Catalina, an area I've never been too. Maybe one day on my next trip home.
Hi from the Baie Verte peninsula. Just found your channel and subscribed. Enjoying the videos. Just finishing my small remote cabin and watching you build yours reminds me of everything I had done. Right down to the styrofoam plates for packing your frying pans lol. Keep them coming. I’ve tracked my build in pictures but wish I had done a few videos. All the best.
What an incredible trail! The camera can play tricks sometimes as far as flat spots but there looked like a few places that a small tent could be pitched. I could certainly imagine waking to a view of the ocean and a coffee with JD Shore rum cream! hahahahaha! Even though my grandfather was from NFLD, I have only been there once when I backpacked the Long Range Mountains. I fell in love with the place and hope to return for a few weeks someday. Thanks for sharing your hike, the drone action was fantastic! :) :)
Beautiful video thank love Newfoundland my home 🏠🏠🏡 bring back memories when I was young I used to visit miles Cove little small town my grandparents live there he said visit all the time they used to come after me in the boat ⛵⛵ love IT there I wish I was young again but that's not going to happen it's good job that we got memories to fall back on thank you for the video again it was beautiful
Reminds me of my youth. In Placentia,Hr.Grace and Mearsheen Island. Its a wonder that we survived running across shale beds with nothing but jagged cliff's and surf below. Someone was looking out for us. Excellent video. Thanks.
Bet Your Childhood Memories Were As Fresh as They Were Yesterday, Very Much Enjoyed This, Troy, No Better Spot For A Mug a Tea & Blony Samich ! Loved The Signs ! Thanks For This, Friend ! Tourism Dept ? ATB Ter & Mel God Bless
Hey brother, I can feel your pain of not having your favourite childhood area not on the list of Newfoundland's favourite paths to hike on. Although it is beautiful and breathtaking it does look a little dangerous in places and with that comes potential injury and lawsuits.....maybe!! I just found your site today and love your content so far. I gotta go now b'y and watch another one. Keep up the good job and don't bother with the naysayers.
Great job Troy; good intentions on the trail bud, hope someone listens, it looks to be just what you say and lots of fossils! I really enjoyed this hike and never had to use the ventolin once lol......... Take care
Great job Troy and the choice of music was perfect. Its been 25 years since I have been on The Rock and your video makes me wish I was back. Perhaps its best not to publicize the trail too much or it will be ruined by too much traffic.
I just moved here 2 weeks ago and have been crossing the trails off, lets go for a hike bro, i dont know anyone here would be nice to have a hiking/bushcraft mate lol
Troy, I have watched all your vids, and have loved them all. But none have made me feel as close to home as this one. When you were sitting on the rocks remembering your life and activities as a boy, I can tell you now that your story can be repeated hundreds of thousands of times. There is no way as boys that we would have left Arch rock, or the gulch unchallenged; and while we wonder how we ever made it without killing ourselves, yet those were character building times. It is a tragedy of our times that technology has prevented kids from discovering their own world around them. I just have to get home again, and soon. Thank you so much for sharing this. You did a fantastic job! And now I want a baloney sandwich to boot!
We tried to find the trail while in the area this summer and, sadly, could not. Asked a number of people where the trail started but they either did not know or said it was grown over from not being used. ☹️ Will have another look next summer.
Thanks so much for sharing this video. My family (wife and kids 9 and 6) and I were in Bonavista late August. We popped over and walked this trail from Little Catalina at Dayton Road to the rock. Picked a ton of blueberries along the way (filled a small cooler) and had a lovely picnic at the rock. It was a beautiful afternoon and is definitely undiscovered and underrated: after parking at Dayton, we didn't see another soul for the entire 2-3 hours that we were there! If it weren't for this youtube video, we wouldn't have known about this. Thanks for sharing and helping to make for a lovely afternoon on our Newfoundland vacation.
Awesome video Troy! Spent lots of time on this trail as a kid. My grandfather always told me 3 French men were buried on the hill next to pay point mine. I’ve tried to find more info on it but haven’t had any luck. Just over the hill in the little Catalina direction is 3 sunken spots. That where I was always told the French men were
Thanks Troy for taking your time to inform us of this. There are so many niche places here that we know very little about. Going to spend the next few years exploring our province.
Thank You !!!! Send Discovery an email . And maybe your video . Or Tourism Newfoundland , they would be Lucky to have your footage , and yes , hopefully you can get some funding . Be a good work Project , to put some folks to work !! Fish eaters !!! Otters
My parents live in little Catalina! I just shared this video with my dad, who hikes a different trail every day! Thank you! I will def be trying this when I visit :)
our home of NFLD is truly blessed with sunning rugged beauty not surpassed by many others ,this is a great video , my father was born and raised in Port Union and taught me the wonders of the woods at an early age
Its a trail we must do once I'm able to one of these days. Very informative Troy. Beautiful scenery....thanks for taking us along....this trail should be recognized and promoted.
That trail is amazing! A little tricky in spots, and downright dangerous in others, but all in all, not a bad trail! Felt like I was right there with you..and my heart stopped for a minute, when you peered way over the edge of that cliff! I would love to go there, and see all the fossils! Thanks for the tour!! The view was breathtaking, from up on those cliffs!!
Great job buddy! Definitely will be checking this out the summer 👍 your a great ambassador for everything outdoors! Love your content keep up the good work!

Tower road in East Point, Catalina is the best place to start.

Next time i go up there with the drone ill see what it looks like from the sky...
I grow up on west coast of nfld and we have type of trails there to that aren’t mark by the parks
Awesome video Troy. Thanks for this. Will definitely be looking to do this one in a few months. And definitely having a seaside mug up.
Thanks for the tour! A beautiful hike for sure.
We always called it roarin cove. Heard it called rolling cove too though. No trouble to hear it when there’s a big sea on.
Привет ! Отличная прогулочка по шикарным местам не тронуты человеком .
Murphy’s Cove trail is also nice. And you should even do the Skerwink one day.
I've done them all. They are all beautiful.
Just like alberta sure 😆
Ha !
An excellent video dude. The musical choice is spot on and that trail looks pretty damn cool.
Have you ever come across flint or chert or jasper for stone a steel fire making
No just quartz usually.
Ok thanks man
Look forward to hiking it how far for Catalina are the fossils?
15 minutes...
You are born without fear. Fear is learned from dealing with adults.
I've hiked up around bonavista, too bad I didn't know about that spot. What camera are you using?
I believe I'm using a gopro 9 but can't remember to be honest.
Thanks Troy for taking your time to inform us of this. There are so many niche places here that we know very little about. Going to spend the next few years exploring our province.
Thanks, I live near add will definitely check out the trail this summer.
That is some awesome footage
I see now why this trail isn’t on the maps. Parts of the trail isn’t family friendly.
beautiful trail. We hope people who find it, respect it so it stays a beautiful memorable place to explore. thanks for sharing.
just simply amazing right in our own backyard. the drone footage gave me goosebumps..haha. great stuff troy
Thanks buddy !
Quite Interesting! Thanks
You grew up and still live in an amazingly beautiful and rugged land . Outstanding drone shots and the water clarity is fascinating ...Many thanks !
Well I wish I had 3 or more thumbs 'cause two thumbs up is simply not enough for this priceless video. Bless you Sir!
Thank You !!!! Send Discovery an email . And maybe your video . Or Tourism Newfoundland , they would be Lucky to have your footage , and yes , hopefully you can get some funding . Be a good work Project , to put some folks to work !! Fish eaters !!! Otters
There was a footprint in arch rock too not sure if it’s eroded away or not used to always call it a devils print growing up
So glad I got to do this trail last month. It certainly did not disappoint, beauty all around! Thanks for posting.👍
Troy, do you know of any taxi services in the area to get a ride back to our vehicle if we do this trail one way??
There is a cab company in Bonavista but not sure the name. Should be able to find it through Google. Might want to call ahead as well.
Excellent video, thanks for showing us this hidden gem of a trail!
My parents live in little Catalina! I just shared this video with my dad, who hikes a different trail every day! Thank you! I will def be trying this when I visit :)
Thanks for taking us on the trail and the history lesson.

If our parents knew what we were up to as kids......Great job on the video!
I was told it is called roaring cove. Walked down to the sandy beach last year from Eastpoint. Plan on doing the full thing this summer. Loved it.
I've never been on this trail. Spent a bit of time down backside in catalina though. Looks like a pretty good trail!
Awesome video. Thanks for giving us the tour. Beautiful countryside. Love the drone footage
Another great video, but youtube killed it I had a add every 2 minutes and most I couldn't skip.. Hope you make good money from this one.
Its crazy how straight some of the lines in the rock are.
Thanks for the tour! Great job. Today's kids are too pampered to do half the stuff we did. We were fearless and agile back then too.
Sorry did I miss the name of the trail?
It's Arch Rock trail but listed on all trails app as roaring cove trail.
Awesome 👌 thanks for taking us along on your hike 👍👍 and beautiful hiking country it is.
Aren't black bears there? Aren't you afraid?
Great job buddy! Definitely will be checking this out the summer 👍 your a great ambassador for everything outdoors! Love your content keep up the good work!
I have tea every night like blueberry. What kind is in your lunch cup?
Tetley !
