Brian Moore was a class act as a presenter and commentator.
and used to buy his smalls from m and s in Bromley
Loved the coverage in this era,...Brian Moore was up there with the best,.....where as today's coverage and presenters lack the character and polished presentation skills of 1970s and 80s footy shows,...Great times , and wonderful memories
Brian Moore was a fantastic presenter/ commentator.
Love that Vélez Sarsfield stadium and the winter sunlight of Buenos Aires. I lived there near the stadium and could almost see it from my balcony.
Winter sun is a beautiful phenomenon.
Especially in football.
Kevin Keegan big star in the seventies / eighties…. Greetings from Holland
Every world cup should start with this kind of intro. Large, crude graphics. Beamed from across the other end of the world and you could see it. Tired and grainy footage. I love it. It should be a viewing option on smart TV's.
I like the way Keegan gets his points across, it’s a shame he’s never gone into punditry.
GoldBallTV don’t worry. We have Michael Owen....
Keegan was 27 and Gray only 22. Would you get such young pundits these days ?
No probably never again. Youngest now is Micah I think
I play that theme music every night when I walk into my bedroom. ...well....you've got to try and hype things up eh. My wife, however changes to the Steptoe and Son theme.
L o L
Priceless comment. 😂😂😂
Young Andy looking like young Freddie Starr!!!!
😂😂😂
Yes he certainly does 👍👍😀
They put some effort into that studio set......inside the 'S' logo. Pause at 0.28
+KEEFY J Brilliant
Rae George was the set designer for ITV World Cup 78, it was a D&AD Finalist.
Whenever I hear that Alan Tew Action Argentina theme it reminds me of promotions called World Cup Plus featuring a moustached actor playing a goalie wearing a t-shirt with the Argentina 78 logo and words WORLD CUP PLUS on it, with trail rostrum camera effects, back in May 1978.
love that theme.
This was in the days when Brian Moore used to head the ITV panel.
And when you could have three white guys on a TV panel.
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329 what are you trying to say when you say that?
Look at itv and BBC pundits now on world cup 2022.all coloureds.on both channels and same with the amount of women ..it's called affirmative action and white erasure .
@@kfreckle5453 Quotas.
BBC and ITV were the only English-language broadcasters of that World Cup; the United States, on the other hand, had *NO ENGLISH-LANGUAGE TV COVERAGE AT ALL!!!!* The only way we had to follow it was on the evening news.
RTE had English speaking coverage of the 78 World Cup
Jonathan Allen BBC and ITV actually provided the English language feed for the English speaking countries
Great video this. I once had a crush on Kevin Keegan too!👠
Gerald Sinstatt. ..Thats a blast from the past...Got over the scandal
Robin Evans scandal? A love tryst with Tony Gubba?
He was arrested over gros indecency in an adult cinema in Islington.
Keegan advocating a defensive approach, the irony.
When Austria had a decent side! X
Are you sure they are not Simon and Garfunkel?? 😂😂😂
I wish they had done the sound of silence.
any more brian moore video from 70s please
The hair on both of them is something else. Oh and England didnt qualify 😀
Gary Owens you mean
“And England dinnae qualify!”
Things have slightly changed these days...😏
Andy should have subtitles
That's a bit of a stereotype. I could understand him perfectly well even though I was born and brought up in England. However my mother was from Dundee and I had an uncle who sounded like Russ Abbott, so maybe I had an advantage.
Bet Andy Gray is pissed about not even in the squad
He was.
Yes.
And Keegan pissed England did not qualify.
Can't understand a word Andy Gray is saying. Scotland drew with Iran 1-1 even though they didn't score; their goal was an own goal.
You thought you couldn't understand Andy Gray? Try listening to Ally McCoist on ITV and TalkSport. Sounds like the Glasweigan you chat during a night on the wee drams 😃!!!
intro better than bbc
That's cruel on Kevin Keegan talking about the world cup when England didn't qualify.
“didnae qualify” 😂
keegan and gray looked like starsky and hutch
What is Keegan wearing? dear me!
He is only missing his medallion
back then id let fly with one of those light floating cheap footballs, bending in the light wind with the cry "Gemmil' !!! as it bent just inside the jumper on the park pitch. after that if i was lucky id go home for arctic roll. if unlucky, picked up by a 1970s predator and brutally butt raped in a ford corsair.
A Ford Anglia would have been far more seedy.
Peter Sutcliffe had a ford Corsair...
Whats Andy Grays thought process when hes choosing that shirt
It's the 1970s and I want to look the part
Why was Andy Gray not playing for Scotland at 78 WC ?
injured
@@peterstewart8758 Gray was fit but McLeod picked his old favourite from Aberdeen, Joe Harper. Gray was sent off in a World Cup qualifier in 1976 and was then banned from the rest of the group ties. He was also injured during this period and lost his place to Joe Jordan. He hadn't played for Scotland for nearly 2 years at this time but Harper hadn't played for about 3 years!
Hair is the winner 🥇 here 👍😉
Keegan should have been honest about Scotland's chances.
Was Gray injured? He was tearing the old first division up at Aston Villa in that era!
No, he wasn't picked by Ally McLeod. Unlucky not to be included.
Gray's career with Scotland never took off. In 1976 in one of his first appearances he was sent off in a World Cup qualifier and was then banned from the rest of the group ties. He was also injured during this period and didn't play for Scotland for two years until brought back by Jock Stein in 1978. However, he was in and out under Jock who often preferred Joe Jordan. He didn't get selected for the 1982 World Cup either. His final appearance for Scotland came in 1985 in a 1-0 win over Iceland in a 1986 World Cup qualifier. This had been his first cap for two years. In the end I don't think Stein rated him that highly and 20 caps and 7 goals was probably about right.
@@Ruda-n4h Thanks for the insight. I had the same question as Ben
@@Muninman Thanks.
graphical es y classico' bueno bueno'
Andy Gray in the studio and not in Argentina! Was he injured?!
Big ally didnae pick gray nor wark, hanson and he doesnae play 40 goal johnstone.... or souness till ta last match....right barncake was ally
@@Anthony-Testicali Picked Joe Harper as well - part of his old Aberdeen mafia.
at 4 .54 , B.M. certainly made K.K. look stupid 20 years later putting him on the spot by asking will Batty score !!
hench keegan
bit of a cheek kevin keegan being on the panel, the england squad spent the 70s pissed out of their heads and didnt even make it on to the plane to the tournament, he should have been hanging his head in shame, not on the panel talking tactics lol
Keegan wasn't to blame.
Don Revies squad selections
England played in 1970.
My god that is a lot of hair, even baldy
gray should be playing
Gray over Jordan and dalgliesh ?
@@leehogg6248 Without Doubt over Jordan
@@kingarthurusatenniscoach1415 I must admit I always liked gray , but Jordan did have a knack of scoring important goals at the time and had huge experience with a fantastic Leeds side. Over Derek Johnstone I'd say yes, I can only think Johnstone got the nod because he'd had a great season in 77 I think but the rest of his record was patchy though he could play in several positions which might have been a consideration. Davie cooper didn't get chosen either and he's my favourite player. Then there's John McGovern but maybe it was a bit early for him. He went on the following two years to captain forest to 2 European cups And never got a single cap .
@@leehogg6248 davie cooper a great player talented than all the rest,,,i loved cooper,,,
@@kingarthurusatenniscoach1415 I saw him at Ibrox in 1981 against Kilmarnock.

2 lady pundits. Nice!
Andy gray looking at paranoid 😆😆😆
