  • We haven't done a complete an thorough clean of our grill in a few years. In this video we'll take you through our step by step process for doing a really deep clean on this grill to not only clean the grates, but get all of the rest of the grease, renderings, grim and grit. Excellent video; thanks for the tips! I guarantee most of the grills you see on the side of the road for garbage pick up are due to folks not bothering to clean their grills. Some don't even cover them. The combination of those two will significantly decrease the lifespan of a grill.

    • @BBQandBottles
      @BBQandBottles  4 роки тому +13

Totally agree. While a grill like this might cost a little more, if it's well maintained it will last you 10+ years no problem.

A little tip I have from working in a kitchen, use sprite or ginger ale in a spray bottle with hot water. Turn on the grill, let it get hot, spray the soda mixture on the grates, then scrub them with steel wool. The sugar, carbonation, and steam, helps pull off any stuck on carbon deposits.

like 50/50 you want it to be diluted enough so it steams up and doesn't leave a lot of sugar to burn

When I worked for a deli with a flat top we would use the grill cleaning liquid and carbonated water from the fountain. Let the liquid get real hot then pour the water on. It was fall right off the surface.

If you know this, then why are you watching videos on how to clean a grill? I swear people want to step on ties and tell everyone what they know, too. Such a corny way to operate. Why not just make your own video instead of clicking on how-to videos for shit you already claim to know how to do. SMH

@@TopBillinSports hahaha, well first of all, you seem like you’re having a bad day, it’s not that deep man. I’m gonna take your comment as genuine interest rather than an insult. Every year for father day I clean my dads grill for him. I worked in a kitchen in the past, but I had never deep cleaned a personal BBQ grill before. I was used to cleaning flat top professional grills. Anyways, I take a lot of pride in my work, and I wanted to make sure my dads grill looked great for him. So I watched this video to see if there were any useful tips I could use since cleaning a grill is a bit of a headache. As for sharing my tip from a professional kitchen, that’s just one of many steps in the cleaning process. People are here to learn how to clean a grill, I knew a useful tip, and shared it with people who take pride in their work. It’s as simple as that. You’re clearly not one of those people and that’s okay, but don’t go commenting on videos you don’t have interest in.
I hope my explanation helped you better grasp why someone might comment on a UA-cam video. I hope you have a better day.

Never use steel wool on stainless steel. The carbon steel from the steel wool can become In bedded in the steel and cause rusting in your stainless steel.
Also, when using scotch bright go with the grain of the stainless steel. Scotch bright can scratch stainless steel.

Great video, the only thing That I would add is the fact that you don’t have to use grill oil. You can use any cooking oil, I like canola but you can use peanut or vegetable. I treat my grill grates like cast iron, and I season it multiple times before use(but instead of putting it in the oven I put the flame on). Nevertheless, it was a great video and very informative, thanks

You can also use Citrol after the Dawn/hot water bath. Citrol will remove tar. It'll work on grease too. As far as seasoning the grates just use veggie oil or whatever you have on hand. Do it every time, it's easy. Once you keep doing it if you miss one time because you're in a rush or something it's no big deal.

Try a drill with Strip wire brush attachment; I have a dedicated DeWalt drill. In addition try oven cleaner on the grates, wood bin, and flavorizor bars. The SS flavorizors IMO should be tossed every year or two depending on use; they're pretty cheap. I'm thinking about replacing the grates on mine after 5 years. Between the two

  • @ginbrannan

I have a smaller charbroil. Cleaned it good as I could last year after about 3 years not being done and I purchased new flavorizor bars. This year the grill was easier to clean. but I still find it hard to get all of the black crusty crud out of it. I do use Dawn and a Scotchbrite pad to scrub the grates, but even the soap and pads don't cut all of it. I've hesitated to use the steel wool or a steel brush because of metal fibers. May have to try next time and see how it works. Appreciate all the tips in this, including all in the comments!

It appears in the video that you are using the same green sponge that you just used on bird poop. Tell me I'm wrong...

Oven/grill cleaner and high pressure washer didn't do the trick. Got to go the old fashion way, like here.
How did the inside cover got cleaned from the built up grease and grimes?

Remove your burners and hook the open end to a garden hose, now, while water is flowing out of the burner holes brush the holes lengthwise, the flowing water prevents debris from going inside the tube holes while you give your burner tube a super clean scrub.
