I like the golden bricks. It's like someone donated a modern art piece to the village and they stuck it there and the villagers find it polarizing

I agree, and inside of the fountain is like the best of both worlds- water feature AND a statue!
The pop of gold looks really cool.

Agreed, If anything there should be a more ornate fountain somewhere and that one has a statue.

Maybe an idea for one of the new houses on the lower level, add a roof cafe that's accesible from the upper level! Cozy lights, benches, small bar, etc. Would look great inbetween the larger buildings methinks!

You should add little walls to some of the properties, especially that new one in the train track corner. That's what people IRL would do to separate their backyard

The extended harbour could (maybe) eventually transition into a beach. Due to the difference in elevation separating the general landscape from the current harbour, the beach could be accessed via a sandy hill or integrated steps. The change in elevation could also allow you to add features like headlands, arches, stacks, caves or even wave cut platforms. Contrastingly, a longshore beach could allow you to build a bar, a lifeguard tower and other recreational structures.

I think for the fountain, the scattered 1 by 2 tiles looked really good. I'd say add some to it, with the current placed tiles below. That way the cool effect of scattered tiles is there and we also can't see the floor below.

You could switch out a few 1x2 plates between the rails for quarter circles, so you still get some variation in the floor without studs stucking up.

You should end the harbour and build a beach area! Think that would look sick. Maybe you can use the height difference as well to build a beach villa at the bottom end
Maybe some newer style houses at the bottom to change it up, youll figure it out

If you're looking for more ideas for buildings to fill out space in the city, maybe you could do a building under construction or renovation? That would also bring up some storytelling opportunities. Plus, is it really a LEGO city without a bright yellow piece of construction equipment? ;)

If you want to change up the solid grey tiles on the tram line while keeping it flat, maybe try changing some of the 1x2 tiles to 1x1 round/quarter round tiles. I'd recommend keeping them dark bluish grey, but the small holes will add some detail and the shadows will give it a slight colour variation. While on that topic, there are a few spots with mostly/entirely one colour (the walls around the second level, the tile path next to the tram), maybe try this technique here as well? Small details that show age like cracked walls, different colour stones used to replaced broken ones on the path, maybe even some litter to add some colour. Also, is there a website for your Lego museum? I would love to visit one day.

To connect the western area, you could add a few small details and make it an amusement park! A western themed educational park where people can go and ride horses, hang out in a saloon and go for carriage rides and watch a train heist!
I think it would be really cool! You could do a small transition area where there is a parking area, minis in normal clothes wearing cowboy hats… etc. make it feel like a tourist attraction. You wouldn’t have to ruin any of your incredible work, just add a few minor details to explain why the Wild West is connected to a modern town.
That’s just my idea though… feel free to take it or ignore it.

I liked the scattered blue tiles! It looked like moving water, or at least gave it some volume. It would be cool to see you shape the fountain a bit (add some foam/bubbles?). Also I'd love for it to end with a beach -- as someone who crew up by the shore, it would be so cool to see your take on a boardwalk.
These are all just suggestions though. I absolutely love your work. It's so creative and cool to see the updates!

_For a start;_ I really like the gold bricks in the fountain, simple yet effective and they stand out from the rest of the city. I'd just love for you to add some loose, scattered light blue see through pieces over the ones you put down there, like a mix of what you did in the beginning and your solution at the end. I think it would bring some _"movement"_ to the fountain :)
_Secondly;_ This *really* looks like many European cities, the _"classic",_ older parts of them. I'm Swedish (though I live in Oslo, Norway, and used to live in København/Copenhagen, Denmark and before that I lived in Berlin for a while) and to be honest - I think this looks a *lot* like some areas of København/Copenhagen, and Oslo, and the city where I grew up in Sweden, Växjö. It also looks like Prague and Amsterdam and towns around the Alps that I have visited for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer, and even (back to Sweden) -> Stockholm and Göteborg.... I could keep going, but I guess you get my point. It's remarkable! I love it!
*Keep up the amazing work, you are a true artist!*

Great video! For the tram line I'd reccomend going in a straight line instead of at an angle towards the houses (make the turn 90 degrees). You could make a main promenade / "main street" with the tram, central road, green foliage+ setbacks, and sidewalks in front of the townhouses and central street. You could then open up wider sidewalks for dining areas, retail stores with operable facades, etc. This would really sell the idea of a central city! Hope this helps 😊

I love the new house walls, although I must say that the roof looks a little weird, not the new plate technique, but the way that the front facade isn't connected. It's a normal roof that suddenly ends in a triangular shaped wall. It might just be me, but it looks a little off.

Gable walls rising above the roof tiles is a real thing but I agree that it looks weird here, I'd suggest removing the facades and building the roof out a little larger so the tiles cover the wall. Gable ends might need to be taller to achieve a decent roof pitch.

Don’t forget to add those cables that are above tram lines, what else could those black things be for you know, I also fee like that red roofed house is a bit too rural? it makes the transition look a little bit off in my opinion and i think something more urban would fit better there and that house would fit more in the countryside :)

One thing I always like to see in buildings and structures is when two buildings have a road or pathway between them, and they're connected by a bridge that goes over that pathway. Not sure where something like that could really work in your city, maybe with the houses along the tramline? Would be neat to see though.

A tram stop doesn't need a covered shed, just a small passenger waiting shelter maybe.
I still think you should build an angled road climbing between the upper and lower levels, and have the tram climb up that road to the road on the upper level. the tram then serves a purpose. The houses you want to build can be built stepped up the road. The only problem will be the angle the tram can climb (trams often climb relatively steep roads), so how far back the road would need to go. And it will also require Lego to build a level to angled track transition.

I have 2 suggestions of ways to end the tram line: the first one is to just end it with a buffer, which is the most common option for ending tram lines, or decorate the end point like it is some kind of turn table like the ones used at the ends of the san Fransisco cable car lines.

I love your videos man, keep up the work. About the tram line, you can build a buffer stop on the end surrounded by barriers, in order to prevent minifigures from getting hurt, and I was thinking about a little yellow line on the side of the tracks, like ones that you can find on the tram stops. Also, you can try to build a big water Tower on the outskirts of the city. Like from gravity falls. It will look cool in my oppinion.

    • @yatokami7907
      @yatokami7907 Рік тому +2

100% agree with the buffer block and the yellow line, but I think a water tower wouldn't quite fit the western European style the city has, as they're not quite as common here in the form you mentioned. Though a water tower in the old brickwork European style, or even like the post-war smooth concrete "pillars" they have as water towers in parts of France would be a really neat addition to the city.
I also think the tramline still needs overhead wires, so a little electrical junction box should be at the end of the line as well, connecting to those.

I like the gold bricks as a sort of abstract statue of its own.
    But!
I also recommend dumping some extra 1x2 clear bricks into the fountain space to give the impression of uneven, frothy water. Basically the same way it was before you undid the tiling, but with the blue tiles underneath as well. Best of both worlds!

  • @Force_kin
    @Force_kin Рік тому

Because there is already a ticket building at this end of the tram line, I would suggest just leaving it blank. I know it sounds boring but that is how some tram lines end. I think a full station building would look clunky, and the fence seems a bit out of place. If you want something like a fence i would add a bumper block (A concrete block) instead of the fence, in a similar design to the first flower pot..without the flowers.
On a side note, I'm absolutely addicted to this build, keep up the great work.

In my opinion, I know it's a lot of work but I would build a circle for train going through the city. It should look amazing to see tram going between all the buildings and cross the streets because in our country are tram tracks normaly covered in road and trams are going trough town. Another thing it'll be amazing to build some type of wiring above the tram. Your work is amazing and your creativity reach unlimited possibilities. Thanks for making content like that!!

  • @wintersrevenge5958

I think for the tram line itself, you should have a tram house/station. Somewhere that the tram can be stationed at over night, while the building or part of it, also housing a ticket booth and seating area. The downtown plaza area already looks amazing with your underground entrances and everything else going on. Maybe the tram house could be an upper floor to a train housing right underneath it, with access for engineers and mechanics to check on all locomotives while not running? That may be cool, even if very very very ludicrous

first time im commenting about the city, but here we go.
i think a good way to mark the tram stop, would be to have simply a sign. a sign that the tram driver would see and know where to stop. add a small patch of greenery behing the sign, like a 4x6 plate.
for the station itself, slightly raised, but not too much. don't cover the tram itself. only cover the platforms if you are going for modern looking stations.
if you go for older looking stations, you should cover the whole tram as well, similar to 1900's british rail stations, and keep the platform slightly higher.

To get from the upper to the lower level near the tram rails, I'd sugest 1 small alley between 2 buildings with a staircase. Maybe just 6 or 8 studs wide at most. It will be just that tiny bit more believable than everybody using a building. It will probably be a very steep staircase (maybe 4 plates per step rather than the usual 3) or peeking out a bit from the line of houses, but I think it would fit fine.

For the train station end of the line, I think you should have a small dedicated boarding area with a just a roof over a couple benches along with a somewhat built up bumper actually on the track

The ending of the tram line is fine, but it definitely needs a sign and an info board for the passangers. Maybe also a shelter and benches.

At the end of the tram line, I think it could be great to have a modern glass roof with a ticket buy and a coffee shop. Maybe, you can add a commercial center behind
the platform where the tram line can stop.

I think it would be great if where the harbour extends into the L-shape, if a 'below-table' corner could be added with a sunken ship wreck, with divers etc. Using similar tiles to the new fountain, you'd hopefully be able to view the wreck top down and from the side.

You should make the tram as a connection to the railway station and city and it should end like in real life

Maybe you could cut the angle of the wooden plate so the harbor angle isn’t 90°. You could have a rock work or even a small beach in that corner, and maybe it would help this part of the landscape look not too squary

ending the tram line with a vintage building in which there are 2 tracks would look sick

Add an glass elevator next to the house that you use to conect up and down platform. In my opinion moddern cities have a lot of elevetors that can help ppl going wherever they can, and the glass elevetor that can be automize to show how it works for ppl who came to see lego city.

I think it somewhat makes sense for the tiles in between the tramline to be smooth and not have studs, as it would be a part of the road people don't usually walk on as much and thus isn't as irregular/broken as the rest of the path.
You should definetly keep the dark grey tiling around the tramline and extend the light gray pattern as you said. At the place you said you might add another building (on top of the vegetation) the space between the buildings and the tramline will become more narrow and that's where you should end the light gray pattern and transition into the dark gray tiling.
As for the fountain, I'm not sure if a statue would be a good idea as I quite like the abstract art aesthetic of the golden bricks, but I think you could definetly add some small transparent light blue on the fountain itself to show that it's actually pushing water out.
Lastly I feel like if you add another building where you said, the area behind it where the tree is will become a little too cluttered. The tree is definetly too good to sit behind there and you should move it somewhere where it is more visible. Instead I think you should go for a small garden with low vegetation to better show off the rock face you've created and also that green hill from today's update.

It might be cool for the staircase near the lower buildings that leads to the upper platform to extend outwards, so people wouldnt have to go through your house to get uptop! Found your channel recently, great work!

I think it'd be really cool to make the fountain functional. It wouldn't take all that much. Just some silicone and a small water pump and adjustable flow valve.

Add a small depot hut with doors and a bus stop like station! And for the row of houses connecting the upper and lower platform add a public lift/elevator

The foutain top need to your place logo or the like.
It is smart to minimized how much the building is interconnected to the terrain since it would allow you to change the building around later.

I think, for the tram tracks, you could make some kind of basic pattern like stripes or something to add color and seperate from the surrounding area to help hide the lack of studs, or just occasional spots with strip designs so figures know where the tracks are perhaps, just some ideas i have though
