Hope it was a little insightful into the league that was (its still going, you can still squeeze some fun out of it) - Ігри
Any mechanic that makes me store something, fugure out the most optimal way to use and then tskes me out of the map is bad.
@@Miawou543 far different - delve is collect, go to area, choose your reward (no crafting deterministic BS) and kill monsters
I love the mechanic. It makes me sort my life together🤗
yeah i had 4 quad tabs FULL of this, it was definetly the most P2w league we've ever had
d3 tiktok coomer brain.
Nah, If the usage is not that clunky it's fine. I almost crafted nothing because it's annoying to walk through the whole graveyard and place 50 things one by one.
Imagine beastiary but you have to pick the monsters you wanna fight by walking through the menagerie and clicking in them one by one. That's tedious, almost no one would do that. Clicking on a recipe is way easier. That's why people actually use beastcrafting.
If a league couldn't keep even Mathil playing for half of it, you know you've fucked up bad.
necropolis was the league i quit the fastest since 3.2
Necropolis is the league with more hours for me and i play since beta .
same quit after ~3 days
@@JanPapiezGamingso you didn't play it
@@luisveigas8604 same, i go with the logic that I can't go back in time to play old poe so I just enjoy the current times, and god necropolis was fun, did everything there is and quit the league with fully done challenges and some build ideas for next league
@@luisveigas8604 same. I got around 50-80 divs in this league to try out different builds. I have gained a relatively well knowledge to apply it onto the upcoming leagues.
Haven't played this game in about 2 months. The moment he opened his stash tabs with the coffins, I had immediate nightmarish flashbacks lol.
For me, Necropolis league was fun at first but grew old. It was way too powerful which meant you felt obligated to use it. But it was tedious and required storing a lot of corpses (300+) to use effectively. And it made power creep even worse (although largely offset this league because of the way overturned T17s).
I ended up farming just one T17 (catalina) because it was super easy for my build. The rest always killed me a couple of times.
This is always the worst thing about any economy based game. When a specific method is so good that you feel like you're doing something wrong if you're not engaging with it. That's just exacerbated when that thing is also not in any way enjoyable to engage with. Crafting aspect of the league was one of the worst mechanics ever. However, I actually thought the mapping aspect was one of the best league mechanics ever, or at least it would have been if T17s weren't also introduced at the same time.
You also had the option to just buy bases. Busted mechanic and you could just extract the best from it without interacting at all.
It was so powerful it invalidated almost every other method of gear acquisition so those that stomached it got ahead. Why bother fucking with other mechanics to make anything when there's a thousand 1600 edps bows on the market and the market crashed.
it was so powerful that i used it once then ignored it
i did a single craft for a 700pdps axe, sold the 5 duplicates for 240d
then just entirely ignored everything else and delved, only stopping to do a single map with sulphite allflame to gain like 60k sulphite
i think the #1 thing driving people away from this league was the no opt-in design, forcing you to interact with the little menu before each map and forcefully making them more difficult, also t17 maps becoming the "meta", basically making the game extremely hyperfocused around the top 0.01% players again just discouraged lots of the more casual players
There is an atlas passive that actually gets rid of that menu. I got confused for a while before realizing what happened.
No one forced you to run t17, this is pretty bad mentality. If you cant do it, so be it.
@@GE_Photon_Lord oh yeah, nobody force you to do it, it just is 1000% more profitable than anything else in the game can possibly offer, in a game that revolve around live economy, while also act as the hard lock to a major portion of the game's end game progression. No, flawless system that was, and the 99.99% of the player base that complained was wrong and the 12 of you that actually enjoyed the system was absolutely in the right.
In fact, I doubted you actually "enjoyed" it, you just love being the contrarian because its the only way for you to feel special in your utterly mundane life.
@@canhnguyen-uj6ox And what if its profitable? Those who can do it reap the rewards. How is it not fair to you???
And literally any other content in the game on a t16 generates a gazillion currency, I literally stopped going b2b t17 and played logbooks. I think u just speak random bs 🤣🤣
Not to mention, you dont even need the 5th map slot to play the game, I only need 3 scarabs for one mechanic. A noob like you has no clue how to even use the 5th. With just 4 slots you make mad currency this league on a normal map. Logbooks btw, are side content, they dont even need scarabs.
@@canhnguyen-uj6ox My comment got deleted... Again, no one forces you to farm t17. Why do you care if thats the most profitable? If your build is not made for it, so be it. A regular t16 rn with the scarab rework is giving crazy money. You dont even need the 5th map slot to play the game, you only need 3 mandatory scarabs for most strats.
Ive been farming t17 b2b and I still go back to farming logbooks. This is not even requiring scarabs, its a side content thing.
It just looks like you are mad for no reason. You dont need to be included in the cool kids' club to play the game and be mad rich. This is probably the most outlandish thing ever, cant do t17 - game sucks. Like what 🤣🤣
Totally agree, other thing that Im not liking from latests POE leagues is that, at least for casual players, everything is more rewarding to sell it instead of running it yourself, any high end scarab, t17, etc.
for casual players, they could farm beasts in white t1-t4 maps (making around 20div/h), so at least beast scarabs were more rewarding for you to use rather than farm; not talking about other profitable strats in t16s
@@kernelization Yes, same as the last 5 leagues at least, Its not about what can you farm, its about using and having fun with the new things they add to the game... To play the same game, farming the same things over and over for a couple of years, puts poe at the same lvl of d2....
@@Lanzafameluis1985 lower than D2 actually.
@@kernelization if he doesn't want to farm beasts... for new players you want to check mechanics not just div/hour. This isn't work
@@divinityai for new players, it’s been like this several years ago when I started playing (loosing time and currency trying to run elder & uber elder fragments); so it’s not special in this league; people bias to blame this league about everything just because they weren’t able to adapt to run t17s
Don’t forget the fact that POE kept patching farming strats after the top 1% absolutely made a killing. GGG made all these changes to end game but obviously didn’t test it adequately to prevent exploitation.
This was a huge hype killer for me at the start of the league, Long time player, every time I saw a new scarab and a combo with the atlas tree and the lantern that seemed even remotely cool, it got nuked by the time I was able to farm up enough all-flames and scarabs to even try the farm out.
I got a question? would rather have them kept those strats in until mageblood was worth 1 alc?
@@Frozenanimeskelett read the second sentence, "obviously didn’t test it adequately to prevent exploitation" aka, if GGG tested it adequately the strats would have never existed
@@Frozenanimeskelett you make a valid point about the importance of the economy, but what we saw with the overflowing amount of wealth produced in the last league was that people stuck around and played longer. There were many, like myself, who got characters to a level they could not have imagined because strategies to make wealth allowed more build variation to be viable.
But to your point, no I don’t think GGG should have left it completely alone and ruined the economy, but they nerfed the strats so hard that it left a lot of players with serious FOMO.
my biggest gripe with this league was when corpses drop the cluttered the screen and you couldnt click items or other stuff around them. It was probably the biggest reason i quit so early this league.
yeah zooming in to avoid the grave to pickup loot was super annoying, especially when they put the grave on the higher z-depth.
Yup. Imagine essence farming. 20% of the essences will have a fucking corpse right on top of your loot.
The league really emphasized all the pain points I have with PoE.
- Scarabs and corpses to add to the inventory clutter and 50 clicks to dump everything into stash after every map
- Mapping constantly getting interrupted where you have to stop playing and solve a puzzle
- Having to choose between grinding the rest of the level first or bricking your entire XP bar in a T17 map
Tornado was pretty cool tho.
GGG saying sextants are tedious and then adding this scarab system in is incompetent. Why couldn't they just make sextants have way more charges? Sextant mods were interesting.
your inventory have 60 slots every league; so it’s not different than clicking in the other leagues if your farm was rich; rebind left click to wheel scroll with x-mouse
@@kernelization Apologists are cringe.
@@peepopoo4387Sextants were tedious?????? How can you think they weren’t. Especially in SSF sextant farming was a cancer
Affliction was fun, not because of the mf thing, but just the woods, charms, tinctures, trees... At this point, it dont need to be a expansion like Heist or complicated like Ancestor, just something mildly fun like Affliction until POE 2 arrives.
affliction was an expansion like heist and complicated like ancestor. Adding 3 new ascendancies to every class is absolutely massive. Adding a whole new mechanic that ramps up the difficulty of all existing content is also massive. Affliction was a full expansion worth of content, even if it itself didn't bring many new zones or bosses, it did bring a significant amount of content and completely change gameplay.
It had a lot of great lore and flavour, too.
Fuck I meant Affliction when I was talking about new sub-ascendancy stuff, but yea good league with good reward structures that felt useful right from the start.
affliction could have more days and delay necropolis a little, would be very smart
Affliction is kinda ambitious tbh. It adds systems that an actual game expansion can do like the new wildwood level as it's already similar to assets used for PoE2. +A whole libarary of new builds due to extra ascendancy and item systems of tinctures, charms, and corpses. It's just a lot.
It's also the reason i'm burnt out with Necropolis. i enjoyed both but my energy can't. I have to rest for 3.25
I think I finally realized that I'm just clocked out with the game, this league pushing that thought even further. Was really fun playing it for so many years.
I think this is where I'm at. I love the build crafting in POE still - more than in any other game - but in terms of actually PLAYING the game, I've been having a lot more fun playing Last Epoch and Diablo 4. Combat feels more meaningful and engaging in both of those games, progression feels smoother, I can target farm things myself rather than just having to collect currency until I can trade for it.
Plus I can play at my own pace in other games; early this POE league I was saving for an item. I was a couple of divines away from it when I went to bed for the night. When I logged back in the next day to get the last couple of divs and buy it, the price had almost doubled because the item was used in a build that'd become popular overnight. Moments like that just feel like total bullshit. I feel like POE's economy is interesting in theory but I find it so unfun in practice. I wish I could just play the game in SSF/group found and have reasonable drop rates (rather than everything being balanced around the trade economy and things needing a certain level of rarity across the entire player base).
I'll be back to check out POE2, which looks promising, but unless POE1 has a league that looks really promising, I think I'm somewhat done with it.
Yep, I've had more fun with Grim Dawn and D2 and sadly I'm not really too hyped for PoE 2. Instead of fixing PoE 1 and making a real sequel that solves its issues, we are going down a whole different route where Jonathan constantly insults PoE 1 and implies people are clueless for liking it.
@@loobkoob Good post. It feels to me like every ARPG is flawed in some way and missing something that other ones have. PoE is really deep and has lots of mechanics to chew on, and has done a better job maintaining my focus over time than other ARPGs. But it's true that Diablo 4 for example feels a lot less bullshit in terms of not having to battle the interface and trade for 10 hours just to run 1 map. Unfortunately, that flip side of that is Diablo 4 is also way too easy and you finish the season in like 3 days with no meaningful way to progress past level 100, an issue Diablo 3 solved over a decade ago. I wish there was some game that melded the perks of both PoE and Diablo 4, but it seems like they will each have their own niche instead.
I agree, these new T17 maps are just bullshit!
They were fixed mid league as well and still broken
As someone playing a "good" build but not a "great" one, I just didn't even get to engage with T17s in SSFHC. Locking our fifth map slot behind t17 completion was an abysmal decision. I didn't even really care about engaging with T17s, but missing out on an additional scarab really sucked.
luckily im a trade league scrub and serviced it pretty soon in the league, but im with you. locking the 5th slot behind t17s was simply a suckerpunch to every self-founder and a very questionable design decision in general.
"oh, you dont want to play a meta build? well get fked" basically.
Leveling a cold build and getting "reflects certain ailments" was peak fun early on
t17s and inaccessibilty to ubers are the biggest mistake GGG made in the past decade
imo t17 shouldn't have interacted with ubers at all
I didn’t hate it on the skill tree but compared to other atlas still tree systems, there were mostly “of course I’ll pick this” nodes and notables. Would love to see them explore more choice and drawbacks when designing future systems like that.
The fact that they didn't make a graveyard blueprint system where you can save a layout and with one button put all corpses in your morg/stash into the gy baffles me
This could've been way less tedious and much like harvest where you do the hard work once and you're done
yeah another example of GGG leaving out vital functionality which the community built instead. You couldn't do that graveyard mechanic without an off-site builder.
That friction is the only thing stopping most ppl from printing "mirror items" - it is objectively unfun. Instead, only the losers who make PoE their job are the only ppl capable of printing "mirror items" through the graveyard... that is GGG's concept of ""balance"".
damn you are genius, i wish they did that, i gave up on league cuz of it, after failing like 5 big crafts where i was using 3rd party website for optimal layout. placing all those corpses 1 by 1 for like 20-30 minutes, rechecking if everything was in a right spot and then failing that 60-70% chance of what u wanted was such a waste of time.....i wish u was in a GGG crew with that idea before the league started. with blueprints you would only need to go thru that hell once, and then just collect/buy corpses and retry your crafts with a 1 button press
One of the leagues of all time to be sure. My first impression of it was that it looked bad or at the very least wouldnt be for me. That was how it looked from the onset and from the outside and seems to match how it played in retrospect. Much time was saved that day.
GGG made necropolis to sell stash tabs. I hate those coffins and how much spaces they took.
I think so too. It's rare when you can actually see how the sausage gets made but this one was very obviously tailored towards the in-game shop.
Maybe is, maybe just common Human error and someone really thought its okay to made 2 slots coffins and 66 corpse storage limit would be enough - when do actually fill whole graveyard you need 80 or something, its fine (Clueless)
This far into the league and still not burnt out on Mathil videos, keep up the great work
i've played every league since leagues were introduced, usually for at least 3-4 weeks, i dipped after a few days of necropolis :(
I still can't believe how bad the UI of this league mechanic was. Not even talking about the corpse drops but the graveyard search box not having ctrl-f functionality at launch really makes you think if those people saying that GGG don't do any QA at all are correct.
They have QA... for PoE 2. Same for most resources really. I figure they'll occasionally put out a big content dump for PoE 1 to avoid the perception, but it will remain valid and true that they are putting most of their work into 2, not 1.
I think having the league mechanic stuff on the atlas tree is fine, but they need to put it at the very beginning of the tree, not spread all the way across the tree in different locations. Slam it directly next to the first node, out of the way of the rest of the tree so that it's fairly easy to respec into or out of it depending on whether or not you like the mechanic.
Pretty much my feelings exactly. I stopped trying to do Cropolis crafting after I realized I could just go farm a couple of divines in less time, then buy one of the MANY cheap items people had made with it already. Sold my coffins, made a few leveling items, barely engaged with it at all after week 2 or so.
T17s were so hilariously bad that it felt like a complete waste of time to engage with them because you knew GGG was going to change them eventually. They did some band-aid fixes mid league, but I'd expect a full overhaul next patch. What I'm worried about is that the last time they killed their game like this, they really seemed to care and went on an apology tour and listed to feedback. This time around, it seems like the only interviews and news revolve around PoE2.
I really enjoy the analytical videos you've made recently, keep up the good work! :D
This was my first league back in 5 years and I have had a lot of fun, but I agree with your critique most of the way.
One thing I would note that I liked about Graveyard crafting was that it brought endgame items into reach of less experienced players which lead me to research more complex crafting in a way I am sure I never would have otherwise because of how daunting high end crafting is in this game.
The endless destructive nerfs at the beginning of the league destroyed it.
I liked the "choose which monsters do what in a map" and I'd love to see it implemented as an Atlas passive thingy in some way
Every GGG employee needs to be forced to watch this video immediately (okay, or at least the handful of employees not working on POE2 instead)
It was so obvious that the corpse inventory situation was going to be a disaster just from the trailer videos (and then they said they WANTED there to be inventory pressure to use them asap lmao, even though you couldn't hold enough to even fill your whole graveyard)
Also wonder how many people would rather see them delete T17s entirely and stop the mess now instead of spending the next few leagues gradually reworking them like they did with archnemesis mobs.
People act like T17 are so far away from being good. Dude if they just fix the mod pool they're sick content. All the boss fights are pretty cool. It's fun doing larger map layouts. It's fun getting big loot.
Next league, GGG should either heavily nerf T17 mods, or just get rid of them all together and go back to the old system of getting to Ubers. I really didn't mind Necropolis, but I really hope that they're taking all this feedback into consideration for next league.
they shouldn't nerf the T17s. They should either move Uber access to a more accessible method, like perhaps having the drops on the regular ubers instead. No reason they can't be part of the loot table in the uber elder fight.
Either that or make the frequency of splinter drops higher. I would prefer the former.
I think t17's will be a fine addition once they make the mods less insane and figure out a way to balance the quant bonuses. Some of the bosses also need a re-design like the act 9 final boss where the arena is super small with degens and other cancer shit on the ground so you're pretty much forced to be super tanky or being capable of deleting everything on the screen. In comparison, the heist robot, lycia and expedition boss fights were fair and enjoyable if you didn't roll the maps too insane. Also I think it's kinda cool that uber bosses are now their own thing with unique loot tables, with the exception of Uber Shaper's Starforge that has a
I saw my net worth plummet in 8 hours while I was sleeping due to a strategy that many people used. I get on and it was removed. But my entire net worth went from like 30 divs to like 3div. So I tried ti craft my own items from the graveyard. I spent days farming stuff up myself etc. It whiffed. I just quit at that point. I couldn't do any of the good strategies for money yet, and I was set so far back from the crashing of my items. That whiff on the graveyard just destroyed me.
@15:00 I failed a 3xt1 fracture tri-ele pneumatic dagger 4 times and quit, nailed it.
I also wanted to craft a CoC dagger with just 2 fractures (crit and crit damage) and failed 6 times with full graveyards. I gave up on playing CoC after that.
I've put in close to 400 or so hours this league, because of summer break. I still don't think I saw the divine map mod a single time.
Me neither, even at 40/40. Kinda meh.
Running Betrayal strat which takes almost no time to run each map, already saw 2 Jewellery to divines mods of one which i skiped. Didn't saw a single one during normal strats where i spend most of my time killing large packs of monsters or just killing bosses
First league I played entirely SSF, had a 98 and 97 with a ton of deaths and didn't see a divine mod either. At least the drops as chaos and scour mods felt really good in SSF.
Only seen it once, and it was not me. It was a UA-camr who was complaining about getting unlucky with the map mods while he put a meatsack allflame on top of the divine mod 🤦🏻♀
Saw 1 for 16D but opt out of the league after 2-3 weeks.
making coffins take stash space and the box that pops out when they drop is what made me stop playing.
yeah the UX for this was terrible.
The best thing about corpses was spending 30div to make 200div+ just printing money but even that was tedious. Never have to map, never have to engage with anything. Just layout the crafts you made in a web browser and live in a graveyard trading.
The popups made leveling/clicking shrines or any basic loot a complete annoyances, I just ignored whatever was left behind.
I spent 2 weeks farming to get a full graveyard craft in order to make a tri-ele bow. I made a 99% perfect one but because everyone had made them by then (I play solo) it was only worth 15div. Previous leagues it would be a mirror. That made the fun disappear from that mechanic for me.
Well, the difference is in crafting for you vs crafting to sell. In my opinion it was really good because I make items for me, not items to sell, and whenever I got bad items I'd sell them for corpse value to remake the same item, not for profit
@@mewfour4436 The problem with this was the Graveyard itself though. Without external sites available it was guesswork. So starting on a tri-ele bow was what most people did because that was the easiest to figure out what the hell to do. If I had done a second craft, which I didn't because fuck that noise, I'd have likely tried to get a 2 dmg multiplier affix quiver for my EA champ. However I actually bought one for 9div that was the best in league. It still is afaik. Last price checked at 2 mirrors for some reason.
Too much untested shit got abused and wrecked the economy too many times.
Made my grinding feel worthless when endgame uniques doubled in price within 8 hrs.
i didnt mind the league mechanic itself but the patch just felt way different than affliction... i thought the scarab changes were going to be awesome but they kinda force you to commit to one mechanic in the map by putting all the related scarabs in, whereas before you could just get a little bit of everything, juicing felt different
Current juicing felt like it's easier to do mid tier juicing for no brain mapping, but way harder to do all inclusive juicing. Before 3.24 we had atlas tree with 4 scarab and 4 compass. Now we have only atlas and 4 scarab
Absurd amounts of micro-management to "min/max". The complete disparity between a random craft vs a completely planned out graveyard being the difference between a 1c rare and a BIS item meant random crafts were pointless for a casual. The fact that we had 64 plots or whatever it was to mix max and for some of the highest tier crafts or specific rolls would require that you intentionally place nearly every plot forces you to understand a convoluted rows/columns/mirrored/multi craft increased % roll chanced system just for the chance at a good roll meant I had like 5 3rd party apps open at the same time just to plan a craft.
The T17s mixed with uber frag changes furthered the gap between casuals and high end players this league encouraging either a high level of understanding in game mechanics and build making to make an off-meta build capable of putting up with T17s insanity or simply playing the meta which came at a heavily increased cost with the insane inflation due to mirror tier rares shit out by the mechanic, exploitation of map burning for insane divine stacks early on, the dumpstering of uniques due to the back-to-back-to-back mechanic exploit and nerfs with strong box exiles and meat sack stacking so if casuals who'd be lucky to ever see an insane T1 or T0 drop don't even get a payout.
We all have our own personal takes on what type of mechanic we like most, for me, this league was an unfortunate combination of changes and mechanics that just made interacting with the base game worse which is what keeps me coming back every league.
Are you going to do a tier list of the builds you played in 3.24? I found these videos you did at the end of the league very helpful for thinking about what builds I might want to play in the future.
I survived this league thanks to mathil, and the twitch frogs. Think this was my most despised league to date. Tornado was a blast, so two thumbs up there.
i had a lot of fun in necropolis, but i never made a singular item with the actual mechanic, i just enjoyed the new scarabs so much, it kept me entertained.
So why exactly this corpses arent just a counter in your graveyard? like i have one this thing and one that thing and ten of this too? i have ~30 tabs of corpses instead
it was the level requirements that forced it. They could have setup a user interface to separate that but I see their predicament.
30 tabs of corpses? You sure you don't need external help?
Oh there's a really easy way to deal with corpse storage, just stop picking them up, stop trading for them, just ignore it completely.
This league I decided to go back to OSRS and I've been having a blast. Its just one of those leagues where you can just take a break and not miss much. The past few leagues for me have just been speedruns to a min/max TS build than transition to autobomber or 1 button build. Depending on the next league I might just stick to Last Epoch and OSRS til PoE2.
The league started in a terrible state, in terms of league mechanic and t17 design. The devs made some heavy-handed last minute changes to keep the league afloat beyond the first week but those changes weren't tested enough and kept breaking the league over and over. In the end it was a miracle most of the player base stayed for a couple months.
Two things this league did wrong for the majority of the fan base, 1 - forced league menchanic and 2 - it was a pure crafting mechanic. I been since closed beta, i still dont understand most crafting and this league just made it even more confusing. Great for the 1% streames but bad for casuals.
Got 3 characters past 95, which is a first for me. Bought my first ever Mageblood. too. But basically ignored the mechanic other than to sell the rare corpses. The patch was great but the league mechanic left me very flat.
the biggest disspointment were the haunted mods did like 10 crafts with over 1000 weighting to get a haunted mod got 1 in the 10 trys over the whole league
Im surprised you didnt talk about the scarab rework at all. Anyways, IMO T17s should never be the primary farming area for MF/parties. They really need to reevaluate the T17 paradigm completely.
Aside from one or two 4-5 plot crafts to learn how it worked, I sat on a partially completed craft from a guide that would have given me tier 0 frenzy/crit gloves. I still have not completed it, because every time I opened it and started looking at the graveyard and my 4 separate stash tabs of coffins I immediately lost all desire to continue. It was just so many relatively minor things that added up to make it not worth my time.
The need to look at each corpse type (demon/humanoid/beast/etc), THEN match those with all the correct modifiers with the possibility of needing those to match with all ADJACENT plots.
80+ separate plots that each have to be manually filled in with the most clunky UI.
Your storage cannot contain an entire crafts worth at one time, so you have to dig through multiple stash tabs for the precise correct coffin.
The fact that I took three different characters to 90+, but did not finish a SINGLE full graveyard craft should tell you all you need to know about how tedious it was.
Coffins:
Take away item level, make them stackable, bulk trading (took a bit to get online, why?), take away monster type affinity (why on here)?, make everything searchable day one (one guy).
Tedium didnt equal the rewards some times. Even with GG items being shot out early trading was abysmal to set up to attempt a craft.
Here's to next league and hoping its a banger!
I ignored necropolis the same way i ignore quin69 takes
Thank you for the videos :-) i am so glad i didn't play the league now :D, but i'll keep watching your videos ;-)
When a streamer like Mathil doesn’t complete the challenges because they’re too hard and grindy, you know there’s a serious problem.
I hated the inability to opt out of the game mechanic until I was ready for it. I like making super powerful items, but hate how long it takes, how much inventory it takes, and how necessary it felt because of the mandatory lantern mechanic.
As an ssf player i quite enjoyed the league because the crafting was op af and the currency drops from the league were pretty decent for me. I can see the isses though. I honestly think a big problem was the way they fumbled t17s and that just didnt affect me because i didnt have an economy meta to compete with
That's so true. I've had 24 tabs full of coffins and couldn't complete a single recepie without trading for very rare and expensive corpses so i just gave up at some point.
18:58 well put :D
Crafting is basically an 88 socket resonator
They should have made corpses drop as regular items so you could use your loot filter. Corpses are basically incubators. And you could filter them like that
3 atlas trees instead of 1! Great change since you could mix farming strats easily when you ran out of some scarabs. Also Sextant removal/scarab change was fun
People underestimate this. Its literally the best league because of this, everything else bad is eclipsed.
Even just removing the corpse types would have been a huge improvement. I would have crafted WAY more if I didn't have to setup the shitty fractured/duplicate squares.
My second suggestion was for us to be able to sacrifice corpses then use the resulting currency to buy other corpse types. This would have given us a hybrid corpse generation between self and trade. Mechanics that require heavy amounts of trade result in inflated prices for the items related to that mechanic.
Ive been doing a 2 man private league since ziz and steel did it in affliction so I'd say I had a good experience because of how easy it was for me to craft 90 percentile gear, played necro BAMA and had alot of fun with it till i hit tier 17 maps, tier 17 was agony and I did not enjoy them, however as a positive this is was the first time i've solo'd sirus, maven, and the feared so i did have fun bossing
The only correct thing to do this season is to modify the map with the Chaos Stone to increase the cost of currency. Don't add more items for making equipment. The game is supposed to do subtraction, not addition.
Took some time off and came back to farm more challenges and I gotta say ... the UI blocking with corpses is super annoying. Like I'm trying to just click shrines and pick up loot and my screen is blocked by things I don't care about and can't turn off. Seems like they could have at least done mid lead change to disable the mechanic. Or give me a tree node to not drop any bodies.
I crafted exactly one item that was a guaranteed outcome fractured chest. Not picked up a single coffin after that. Allflames were hit and miss too, sold some for insane amounts, got 2 MB and quit lol
they should have put a 1 pt node connected right too the start of the map device for disabeling league mechanic, moved power from atlas league nodes into the mechanic and carried on the format from campaign where you needed too kill the mobs to enhance the mechanic. This would still not fix the corpse part of it, but i do think it would have made it alot better.
I am pretty sure that t17s are in fact meant to be the stepping stone as they said, but they jusst missed the mark horrifically, and i strongly suspect we will see some heavy heavy nerfs there.
While I didn't enjoy Necropolis as a League - scarab re-work will carry PoE 1 from now on. By far the best part of the patch.
Scarab changes is probably the reason I played Necropolis this much. Not perfect though, I think the atlas tree becomes too cluttered with scarab nodes.
@@lifeloverNorris i think they kinda need to redo some of them cause some seem completely pointless
the thing that killed the league for me was how absurdly op high end corpse crafting is and how it requires you to trade a bazillion times for it. surely i will go farm essences, harvest and harbies to craft my items when i could just go buy a trillion corpses. my main gripe is that it made all the other crafting feel super sucky. i interacted with it once or twice in an endgame way and that was about it. but hey buying triple fractures was pretty neat.
Dumb storage, extremely bad UI to use, crafting so mind boggling 99%+ of players just sold corpses, totally unable to avoid a totally random league mechanic.
How could it not go wrong?
Never got to the QoL Update.
Made some decent items after hitting reds day 2, noticed that i hated the process and couldnt stand the idea of having unfilteraböe corpses i ‚had to‘ take and store and quit.
Check back in a week later, my buddy has 6 quads of corpses he‘s selling while making 6-t1 items in a different quad.
Why do they insist on creating mechanics that feel like homework
It's not homework, it just sucks to such an extent that you need homework to make it worth it at all.
to waste your time and make you stay logged in longer to buy mtx
@@danknstein6504 wearing an alu hat while typing this
@@dagowowthis is basic mmo profit strategy but i wouldn't say mtx in case of ggg but stash space, especially quad tabs with this league design, each coffin takes 2 squares and shitload of them drops each map
@@kottiqkhaotiqq9151 that design wasn't supposed to be how it works anyway. Why do you speak with confidence, when your premise is already wrong and correctable with 10 seconds of googling? dont @ me
Having corpses cover drops in maps broke me, chally rewards were ass too
This league was great, I didn't t pick up a single corpse or go to the graveyard even once and I had a really good time with my elementalists lvl100
When I was trying to skip the mechanic, but items would fall behind a corpse text and I'd be forced to pick it up was probably the most bothersome thing for me overall, I felt like I couldn't truly opt out/avoid.
It had a lot of tediousness, and was impossible to not interact with. Never quit a league so fast, unfortunately
my biggest problem with it was terying to level without leveling uniques. the prower needed to kill some mobs was rediculouls and playing a late blooming build was really hard to do.
"You put in a ton of effort, got a shit item out of it, and never wanted to interact with it ever again" Pretty much sums up my enjoyment of the corpse mechanic, tbh
It was such a small annoyance, but even when I resigned myself to ignoring the graveyard and only selling valuable corpses... the vast majority of trash/overabundant corpses ALWAYS covering loot I wanted to pick up did my head in. The whole scale of the league mechanic was so overly designed and tedious for tedium-sake. Miss me with finding it fun to collect 88 fossils that don't stack at 2x1 size and then socketing them into an 88 socket resonator on the floor.
Even with all the problems, i had a ton of fun, first league i tried to get 38 challenges and got it
Kinda liked the league but already burnt out from affliction. But still, i was still able to play for like 2 months straight because the scarab system is fun and the necro crafting is interesting. I hope they carry over that type of crafting but in a different way. I really like the deterministic aspect of it.
For me it’s one word: Jank.
A few more words: The crafting mechanic may have been „good“ but it was terrible. Yeah, having access to usable Phys weapons and such is nice but if I have to manage two big stash tabs filled with 2 tile items and four menus it’s tiring.
Being able to replace mob types with special ones is really cool but I definitely don’t want to do it on every map. If it’s something we can occasionally opt into I want to see it return. But again, it’s tiring to have another menu pop up every time I run a map which is most of what I do when I play the game. And compared to the risk/reward of Wildwood it’s so uninteresting to juggle the Lantern mods.
I really hope that GGG will have the taste and foresight not to turn PoE into a worse game again as they did with Necropolis. This league was a detriment to my enjoyment compared to Standard.
even though the league didn't click with me, i'm glad they are experimenting with things. eventually they'll hit paydirt. there's also value in finding out what doesn't work.
i bought 4 more quad stash tabs this league and ended up not using my corpses, well played GGG :D
i rly enjoyed this league because of the wander buff
i skipped this league the moment i saw in the announcement u have to fuck around with the mobs before entering any area
I also don't agree with the "all or nothing system" - if you wanted very very very specific mods you'd be looking at most at a 30% chance to get it, whereas you could also fracture specific mods to then craft the poe way and have much better chances with that, whilst making a halfway there item - my example was a chest piece where I wanted specific mods, but it was almost impossible to get all the mods, however getting 2 of them was okay to fracture which I then manually crafted later. Is it perfect? No, I'm missing "fire resistance cannot be penetrated", but it's much much better than what I had previously
one thing mathil forgot to mention is that t17's Currency bonus and Quantity bonus was the main reason for the hyper inflation this league
I didn't see it go that way at all. The first 2 weeks it was Meatsacks, Anarchys, the way people were farming fractured items and the mirror items being made from crafting. People weren't really running T17's except when the exploit was still working. When they did the super-nerf the damage was already done.
@@tehf00n The first 2 weeks nobody could beat t17s so of course.
@@blackomega34 there was a cheese with the heist boss.
Yeah this league got boring fast and the mechanic was meh at first then they buffed it and it crashed the market. I had fun because the base game is in a good spot rn, but I quit after like 3 weeks because my 2nd character was "done". I usually play a league starter then 1-2 other chars that I build up to almost bis gear (not mirror tier but like a few dozen to a hundred divs/item), in this league I got my bis items in like 1-2 weeks with grave crafting, but it was torture, trading for like an hour and then setting up for an hour for 1-2 crafts, felt bad even if it was like mirror tier double fractured thing. Also T17 were a joke, if you didn't have a geared up meta build or a character specifically made for them they were straight up impossible with some chars, my 2nd char was an es stacker flicker trickster with like 200k ehp. Did all the ubers except maven on it, but T17s were undoable 80% of the time and fuck rolling them for 100s of chaos when I can just make more currency doing my basic ass atlas strat, I only completed 3 out of the 5. Hopefully boat league has more of an in-map/zooming mechanic and they do something with T17s but we will see. Rn I'm waiting for the Last Epoch cycle start tomorrow.
For me the added friction of seeing the lantern ui every map broke me.
I theory the idea of using monster corpses in crafting is thematicly pretty cool, but this was so miserable.
I'm not a crafter beyond very basic shit. I don't block affixes, I don't double corrupt or use special bases. I go to my craft table and chuck on an extra stat or maybe some harvest juice to re-roll until I hit something ok.
Necropolis over complicated crafting for people like myself. Having to use more websites to efficiently place corpses to get the rolls you wanted and then, it's still RNG. It was a lot of time taken away from mapping and killing shit, for me anyway. I tried it a dozen times or so and I think I got a sub-par (but an upgrade) item for my DD character. I ended up just selling corpses and buying the shit I needed honestly.
I had more fun this league than last, just purely because the mapping was fun with the added Necropolis bonuses.
I think it's a good idea to have some really hard content in t17 maps, but a lot of map mods aren't hard they are unplayable.
Seeing you having hard time with T17 make me realize I will never end one this league, then quit...
Agree with 100% of this video
i'm glad my pc died before this league so i'm not forced to play it ahahah
By far the worst league I've played
Good: Items
Bad: Everything else
I thought it was pretty fun. 8/10 . I like crafting league
I'd like a bigger coffin storage system tho
was one of the best leagues ever. you could actually get mirror tier items crafting ssf.
I am still playing, but mostly due to all the new scarabs and 3 atlas trees, allowing to test out many things! Never engaged much with T17's OR Necropolis content, as it was immediately cumbersome and disagreeable. Just take the 5th map slot unlock for example, how tf did they think it was fine to lock that behind a T17 completion?!?
Overall, with the market crashing too, I had a great time and still do, 8/10 league overall, but at least the league mechanic and T17's belong in the Kalandra/Archnemesis Tier of implementation =)
