  • This dish has a natural caramel pecan sauce. "You do not make the sauce, it makes itself".. If you do it right the it creates it's own sauce just like it does with your favorite baked apple dish. This is a great holiday dessert. Save some quince for Christmas or whatever holiday/holidays you celebrate. It is worth it!!!
✨✨Firm Pears or Crisp Apples will also work with this preparation.... or make all three and compare 😋✨✨

Baked a quince just like a baked apple recipe. The skin is harder than an apple so need to work slowly, also the fruit itself is harder too so when coring you have to be careful. The results of your labor dessert that is wonderful!!! Quince are great baked, roasted, sautéed, and also poached. It can be made into jams, jellies, purees, and even curds but it has to be cooked first. There is no eating this fruit raw.
    Baked Quince Recipe
    Ingredients:
2 Quinces - Peel, cut in half, and core
    Whole Butter- 1/2 Stick
    Brown Sugar- 1/2 Cup
    Maple Syrup- 2 Ounces
    Cinnamon- 1 Tsp
    Cardamom- 2 Tsp
    Lemon- 1
    Salt- to taste
    Pecans- 3 to 4 Ounces
    Procedure:
Peel, cut, and core the quince. It is harder than an apple so take your time. Cutting around the core can be slightly difficult so again, work slowly. Place quinces in cold water with some lemon juice to keep from oxidizing (turning brown). Now transfer 1/2 quinces in a baking dish with the cored side facing up. Add a slice of butter on each, some brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and maple syrup if you like here or half way through. You decide :) Now squeeze lemon juice over each quince halves. Add small amount of cold water to the pan. Bake in a 375 degrees F Oven (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes to an hour or until done when there is only a slight resistance when pierced with a thin knife. Check after 25 - 30 minutes and baste... check water levels to make sure there is some left but not too much. The oven creates the sauce and you want the right texture. Quince are never in a hurry so wait for them to decide when they are done. It will be worth it :)
When done, adjust seasonings, and serve. It goes great with ice cream, whipped cream, sorbet, or on it's own. Whatever way you like to eat baked apples you can eat baked quince the same way. Enjoy!!!
