@@The15iceiceice15 No one's taking aways all of his "Local" Accolades from him, he's been a coach in the PBA more or less 15years sure he's a well decorated Coach but his coaching style and approach to game is very One-dimensional. Nagsstart palang sya upto now Dribble Drive Offense yung style ni Chot, yes it's good for the "local" PBA leagues since most of the coaches here eh matagal na nnagcocoach sa PBA, nagrorotate lang sila ng teams na nililead pero same coaches for what? For the past 2 decades? Kaya walang growth and improvement kasi same startegy and coaching style every season. Chot is still a good coach locally for TNT pero for the "NATIONAL TEAM" na lumalaban "INTERNATIONALLY" hindi na applicable yung One Dimensional and DRIBBLE DRIVE OFFENSE. Wala naman pumipigil sayo na iPatronize mo yang poon mong ai Chot. Pero marami na nakakakita ng stagnat and regression growth ng Philippine basketball.
I agree na dapat naman talagang sisihin and be criticized *responsibly* si Chot Reyes for his ineffective system and coaching. But the one really responsible for the entire mess is yung SBP with Al Panlilio. Ang hirap kapag walang progressive leader sa kahit na anong program or organization haha. Laging may kasamang toxic positivity na may kurot ng false patriotism.
Agree 100% command responsibility . Need to build a successful framework to achieve goals. accepted the resignation of the assistant coach ( foreigner ) but not Chot Reyes , Misplaced patriotism.

With the news of Jordan Clarkson coming to join Gilas, suddenly, ang mga vloggers na very critical sa SBP at kay Chot Reyes, ay biglang naging malambot ang stand. It is proof na naging successful ang SBP na bawasan nang bahagya ang galit sa kanila nang mga basketball fans. Ang nakalimutan dito nang iba, if not nang karamihan, na ang pinaka-ugat na problema dito ay hindi ang lineup nang Gilas, kundi ang SBP at si MVP mismo. Dapat i-revamp ang SBP or dapat palitan na nang different body to handle the national team. So, kahit andyan pa si Jordan Clarkson at iba pang superstars dyan sa basketball, sa kangkungan pa rin tayo pupulutin, dahil sa bulok na sistema at paghawak nang team. There is no moving forward as long as SBP and MVP ang may hawak nang national team.

@@liannnarvacan1776 Agree, the NCC system worked before under the leadership of Boss Danding and Coach Ron Jacobs, with Coach Chip Engeland of the Spurs as on the naturalized players. They have the experience to make it work. Hindi puro PR and/or Marketing job. SMC has a tradition of winning and competing at the highest level always.

I just feel bad for Chot man, this guy is just clearly been put in the coaching job by SBP to take all the shots from the firing squad. It’s pretty clear why SBP, the PBA hated tab baldwin. Cuz all the promising players with the likes of Abando, Ramos and etc. are playing overseas. And in the eyes of the PBA and SBP this is bad business for them. Instead of improving the PBA league which is the right thing to do like increasing the salaries of players, Putting a stop in all those unfair trades. They just simply got rid of Tab Baldwin who impose as a threat for them, without thinking the end result of the national team. Which is the current team is at its state today. Pitiful

How did you know that these are the reasons why SBP and PBA hate Coach Tab? Any evidence about this claim?
Coach Tab defeated Lebanon in 2015 with some of his players not on their prime anymore like Taulava, Thoss, Hontiveros, Intal, no Junmar, no Japeth and other bigs kasi may issue rin sa pagpapahiram ng SMC players that time but with the good system he used, he had able to maximize the available talent he had and stir Gilas to #2 or runner up in Fiba asia 2015.
Advise for coach chot, dapat may naka lagay sa resignation letter nya na "irrevocable resignation" .

For SEA Games, no defensive adjustments, even as they killed us from 3-point range. Subbing in Tungcab, Navarro, and Lopez could have made a difference defensively impis na sina Pogoy, Troy, at Mo, who were liabilities.
Asia Cup, defense din. Losing Dwight, Balti, and Kouame hurt, pero ayun. Again, little defensive adjustment din, that compounded their absence.
We really need a defensive coach and defensive players, kaya advocating ako for Tab, or if not, Goldwin Monteverde, mapa-head coach or staff.
Just to clarify din, offense wasn't really that much of an issue in our past Asia Cups. It was DEFENSE.

Just came from watching the 3rd game of PH vs ITA huh OLATs :(( And I must say, we have potential at ang gagaling ng mag players natin. Kaya pa sila palakasin tsaka nakakatuwa kasi ung mga players na Filipino na naglalaro internationally gaya ni Rhenz Abando at Dwight Ramos ay sinali sa line-up.
Si Homer na mismo nagsabe during his appearance kay Noli Eala na nakausap nya mismo si Baldwin. And baldwin said na hndi nman daw tlga sya yung coach. Program Director lang sya tska may sakit kasi yung ka pamilya nya so he had to go back to States. Feeling ko ayaw lang tlga magpahiram ng PBA pag si Baldwin ang coach. MAsyado ata sila nabbutthurt sa comments nya before 🤣🤣 and sya din ang sinisisi kung bakit nagooverseas ung batch nila thirdy 🤣🤣 Tsaka ibang klase ang development kay Tab kung icompare mo kay Chot. Walang player development si Chot eh

Lessons & Expectations in August Window
1. SBP will say Clarkson can't play because his naturalization takes a long time. Clarkson will come and hold basketball clinic.
2. Teams assembled quickly with little preparation won't stand a chance against strong teams who have been playing for a long time and coach well even with PBA superstars and an NBA naturalized player.
3. Another disappointment for Gilas Fans in August Window.
JC can play as NP dahil passport holder sya like Standhardinger, Pringle, others. No need to undergo the NP process sa congress.

it's really the program.. inayos na to a few years back.. nagkaron ng mga gilas draft, etc.. pero paulit ulit ung "rebuilt" .. bumabalik at bumabalik pa rin sa pagpili ng best available players mula sa PBA at ginagawa pa rin un few weeks before a tournament.. hindi naman tayo kasing lakas ng US para bumunot na lang basta basta ng professional players.. dapat talaga may solid na program at iisa ung vision

Ayaw man natin o hindi pag pinasukan talaga ng politics wasak ang ending. Chot plays for SBP not for the Flag 🇵🇭. Galit sila kay Coach Tab kasi nasasapawan sila. Honestly sir, i dont think the Jordan Clarkson commitment will help the situation better--it seems like a band-aid solution more than anything else for the short term. His playing expense is also shouldered i guess by SBP despite the fact our peso currency is depreciating by the minute caused by inflation. I also hope his insurance will cover any medical-injury related expense(knock on wood) if it happens. Dahil kung hinde, you got REALLY big problem on your hands. Property pa din siya ng Utah Jazz. Kahit sino pang coach ilagay nyo dyan, kung ang preparation ay 5 days, 3 days lang at kung hindi makikipagkaisa ang PBA sa pagpapahiram ng players o sa pag-aadjust ng laro, walang mangyayari pangbabago.

First of all, good job and great video. It's a comprehensive video which somehow gave me a wider view of the Gilas situation.
Based from the vid, what I see is just mishandling again of the Gilas program. Since Tab resigned, SBP just became frustrated for a long time, instead of thinking again of how to continue the good momentum. It felt like "ok, you resigned ....and I'm going to let it fail because of you"-- typical non-progressive mindset. Chot, who is just a loyal employee, just stepped in with less enthusiasm because he knows that the program has no direction. Hence, making the SEA games and the FIBA Asia Cup just "part of the development" --- a nicer term for "papawis games".
This is not included in the vid but all we can hope for now is to pray that SMC, MVP and the PBA don't mess this thing up. After all, Gilas is also a product of the messy Filipino corporate game. Both corporations still hold the contracts and sponsorships --well, if you consider UAAP and NCAA big schools too -- the majority of the best Filipino ballers, with the majority of this now leaning with SMC. Not to mentioned the PBA, the messiest of all basketball organizations, still holds the majority of the best Filipino ballers. They won the post-Tab fiasco so they should step-up with their so called "preparation".
Either way. I still support Gilas and Ize said, let's continue to criticize responsibly. Just pack up a lot with loads of patience.
Eto nangyayare kapag yung personal interest yung mas nangingibabaw kesa sa pag mamahal mo sa laro o even sa bansa mo. Actually punong puno na din ako kay Chot Reyes. But the guy is also a victim. This Al is the main problem. Nakakasuka na ininvite natin si JC to play for Gilas na currently may basurang system kase yung mga nasa taas eh may nakatanim na personal matter. Mas mahal pa nung hindi pinoy yung bansa kesa sa mga full blooded na pinoy jan. Gising gising.

So fast forward tayo ngayong August 2023. 0-3 ang Gilas sa group stage ng FIBA World Cup and relegated na lang sa classification phase. Obviously, walang nangyaring maganda sa "end goal" ni Chot. And may bagong article pa quoting him, "We've shown that we can compete and even lead against these top teams". Puro moral victories na lang Chot, 2014 pa namin alam na kaya sumabay ng Pinoy pero 9 years later, same same pa rin. Masaya na lang na nakakadikit at nakakalamang pero olats pa rin.
We're all Tab this, Tab that... YET we don't even seem to understand him. we're just using him as ammunition against Chot.

I agree na ang SBP ay hater ni Tab kahit na yung result ng work ni Tab is positive tapos aatakihin nila, some people might be OA and dick riding this "Tab > Chot" but it's true based on the result itself. Culture daw ng basketball. Iso, bara bara, walang dedicated na team para sa Gilas, PBA hindi naglelend ng players, walang magandang program ang Gilas etc. Nakakatawa sinasabi mong tayo ang problema eh hindi naman tayo ang nagbabasketball, sila yun. Ang SBP ang problema at si Chot na epal.

Honestly yung system na ginamit nila sa Asia Cup is quite decent tho meron parin dribble drive. But sometimes di maiiwasan kasi ang ganyan play in some possession lalo na may isang player sa loob na court na feel nya he's on fire.
But one thing na ka puna2x sa performace nila is the consistency sa defensive end. Yung team captain di nag bobox out, ang pangit ng drop coverage nila sa pick & roll. walang communication sa defense. Lalo na pag babara ng open lane pra ma iwasan ang free drive to the basket. As in ang daming lapses sa defensive end. Umiinit ulo ko lalo na yung ultimong pag position nila sa drop coverage or even mag hehedge na lang.
Yung mga mistakes nila offensively and defensively is most often mga basics sa basketball eh. Proper screening, communication, defending pick & roll, at yung nakaka irita box out. At the end nagmukhang undesciplined ang players ng Gilas. IMO
Diyan natin nami-miss si Tab, DEFENSE, lalo na disiplina.
Si Chot kasi, he's not much of a defensive coach, and ang preferred players niya usually, offensive guys (shot creators, shooters), often at the expense of defense.
Kulang pati ang ingame adjustments, buong game naka man to man lang eh lugi nga tayo sa size 😆

2014 he is good but onwards till this day basketball has changed so much especially in international scene his rotation may work in PBA but in international scene that is easy to break apart ,he needs to resign, SBP needs to wake up. Sea Games which we have kept the gold medal since we got defeated and that's with a "overkill" lineup. I didn't follow Gilas that much anymore since their constant defeats in international scene, the last time i watched them was with Tab as a coach which they were able to defeat SK. Could be that players leave Tab because they can't comprehend the better rotation he has and they were okay with Chot's basic rotation?.This might be my last straw and other people to watch and support Gilas if Chot will still stay as the coach and if they failed this run.
edit: if him and SBP still has a little bit of conscience left and knows that Chot is the problem please resign accepted or not.

- setting a play for an inbound alley oop dunk na seconds na lang natitira kahit tambak na kalaban para sa "quotient". multiple times niya ginawa na umiskor pa rin kahit concede na ang kalaban.
- intentionally shooting at the opponents basket to avoid elimination
- not preventing the australia brawl from escalating
- first time na hindi gold ang Pilipinas sa sea games after so many years

I realize, the biggest picture of Gilas problem are the whole SBP Organization itself. and trust me, these includes POLITICS sabayan nio po ng EGO ng mga yan when they realize how Coach Tab influenced filipinos and realized, NEED changes in Philippine Basketbal System.. not just Chot.

Not rotating players and defensive adjustments killed Gilas' Gold Medal on SEA Games. Isama mo narin yung hindi nag timeout nung 3rd quarter, babad yung 1st 5 buong 3rd quarter, then yung Bench malamig na. Thats how his coaching system, favoritism nga sa players. Consider mo din yung pag mali nagawa player sisi agad sa player na yun. While si TAB at Nenad, chill lang pag may turnover ka.
