Reminds me of the scene in the WoR where Gau finally reunites with his father, who doesn't even have the presence of mind to remember his own child anymore. I was indifferent to Gau before that moment. Then at the end of the scene, when he says that he's just happy his father's still alive... Beautiful remastering here, man.
Gau is a fantastic character, very agitated and active. *The saddest theme in the game* I love Gau's story to the point that when I finished it, it made me cry.
Ye gods, this poor kid...I wanted to hug him and never let go, even as a young-ish girl playing this. I remember thinking "He likely doesn't understand what was done to him...and that makes it better and worse at the same time." at about age 10. I always used to try and make up for what kind of an awful, raw deal he got by slapping a Merit Award on him and using him to singlehandedly ruin Kefka's day :3
I straight up went "No one will miss his dad, right?" and then went "..Gau will." And kept going in the game. Such a magnificent character and a great game. Why is 7 the one that gets all the credit?
Gau's theme fits his story pretty well, poor kid. FFVI is my favourite game of the series because of the depth each character has in the main plot of the game, each one is unique. The soundtrack is astonishing and sentimental. Nice rearrangements, keep up the good work.
You can fade into a smooth and gentle bit but part of the charm in Gau's theme and part of the way it reflects Gau is that clumsy, over-deep, loud cello carrying a sweet and somewhat pained melody.
On my first play on this game, I didn't payed much attention to Gau's story. I felt like he was a comic releif character, and I even used him a lot, but I didn't knew his history well. This was about 2 years ago when I was 18 y/o, I first started with FF games, with FF 6 being my first one (and thus, my favorite). Now, I'm replaying this wonderful game, and when I found out about Gau's backstory, it was shocking to me. Such a nice boy, abandoned by his own father like that... And this beautiful theme fits that tragic story perfectly, to the point of bringing tears into my eyes. Thank you for remastering the gorgeous melodies of this wonderful game :)
"with FF 6 being my first one (and thus, my favorite" Such psychological insight, and youre spot on with the Gau story, just the same way, thus the theme is powerful.
I never understood why Gau's theme was so melancholy because he was a very high energy and comedic character, then I found the scene of him meeting his father in the WoR part of the game.
I agree, FFVI is the best in the series... but not because of story. I mean, there's a lot of plot holes, but it's still the best Final Fantasy... What did Gau to the story, aside from giving main characters Aqua Helmet? Also Mog - he was good for saving main characters in beginning and then... he's optional. And Umaro. And Gogo. But a lot of other characters were pretty good deatailed. It's still the best Final Fantasy! Final Fantasies are best not for the stories, but for the atmosphere!
Just to trigger a spoiled FF7 fanboy: Gau’s father is actually an AU version of Cloud who lost his wife Aerith during his birth and then abandoned him.
Gau father is making me mad abandoning gau... Poor gau but still I can't denie that he totally un useful and hard to master all rages. Mostly for ios to get acheviement.

Gau is the ultimate survivor, he ended up being taken in by MONSTERS, and learned their ways, somehow!

Absolutely perfect remaster of this track. Who the F gave this a thumbs down? Kefka?
Actually it's Gau's father

Well his father wasn't the most sane person on earth. I think Gau ended up being way better as the savage boy we got to know
You want me to be honest? I think Locke’s more of the comic relief slice of life person.
Uwao! Pretty song! Pretty song!

Best remastered song as far as i've heard. =D
I always loved the cello riffs in this
Very lovely remaster or that great theme :)
Wow that sounds really nice, great job!
good stuff!
Whatever, I think you nailed it in this.
I would have to agree with absolutely everything in your comment
This is one of the ones that I didn't like the sound of in the game because of the hardware. This is excellent. Beautiful.
Actually you learn about Gau's past in the World of Ruin.
And how does it help to team?
Kefka disliked this video..
Also Gau’s father

You are confusing "Story" with "Relevance to the Plot"
