This song definitely reminds me of Sia during the Some People Have Real Problems and Healing is Difficult eras. I absolutely adore this song and I think it's the best on the album. Don't get me wrong, I love 'Alive', 'The Greatest', and 'Sweet Design', but this song has a feeling of true emotion to it, especially when she sings the line 'Oh, we don't bend, we're breaking'. This song almost made me cry but in a good way. Keep it up, Sia!
I'm so glad she believed in herself enough to release her own music, as opposed to just writing for others. She's an amazing songwriter, but her songs really shine when she's getting to vocalize them herself. Her voice is one of my favorites. It's big and powerful like many of the great singers, but it sounds just as good whether singing "cleanly" or when her voice is slightly hoarse/cracking, which gives her lyrics that extra heft that makes them uniquely "Sia". Really, really beautiful & heavy stuff.
The melody music is so basic yet so effective, love Sias voice, absolutely beautiful in this one, the suspense and darkness brings out a sorrowful and regretful message, alongside those powerful notes, just simply spectacular!
