I worked at GE 1965-2000, I look back and see how the company declined, it was unbelievable. I was a welder in a service shop, ended up needing to be on the road a lot just to have a job. We had great people in the field, and shops but the leaders cared about themselves to much, the worker was always the fall guy. It was a great job , I enjoyed some travel, all the places I seen and people I met, the big shots took their big money, retirements and benifits and we the workers try to get by. GE got so they did not care about us the workers. WElch sold off to many parts of the company, Immelt was not qualified to run this company.

You have the best perspective. Welch was a villain and the hero worship as the first celebrity CEO was a disaster not just for GE but America. Immelt is a chump with nothing to contribute.

John Flannery should also write a book on his experience at GE because he did try to right the ship but it had already taken in too much water.

Immelt came from a middle class family. He did not grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth! He WORKED his way up!

That failure (Immelt) leaves behind a rich man is indicative of a failed system. This guy is a pontificating failure; who would value his crystal ball?

He has no answers. He's an excuse maker. He's trying to be a good loser, and you know what Vince Lombardi told us. . . "Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser."

Old Jeffie took a 4 star blue chip company and drove it into the ground. At the end end of the day, all blame is his and he needs to own it and stop blaming others. He was the worst CEO of any company.

If Immelt was so terrible as a CEO, why did the board of directors not vote him out at any point during his 16 year tenure? In contrast, his successor Flannery was voted out after about a year...

Let’s not forget about Welch setting up GE for failure.

Tells you a lot about how the higher classes close ranks to prevent upward and downward mobility in the nation. The executives only ever manage to fail upwards, earning millions and securing swanky business school gigs and securing enviable positions in the startup space (what business does this guy have advising startups is beyond me) even after having disastrous careers.
This recent tour whitewash his image using a convenient book, and how the business channels are facilitating it just shows how close this network at the top is.

Jeffrey Immelt might be a case of class but other than you think. When he headed the medical systems division under Jack Welch it performed best of all in GE, because he had been oriented on the demands of GE. When he became CEO of GE he had to do with analysts, bankers and the like, so he might have somewhat admired them. And he followed too often their wishes, considered as his main mistake.

When Coca-Cola stopped making Cherry coke. Immelt bought all the rest and bought a warehouse at the companies expense to house all the Cherry coke because it was his favorite drink. I know. Im the guy who had to handle the P.O.
