Love these tips. I use baking soda for just about everything, including underarms. A note, I had breast cancer, and the oncologist suggested it during radiation therapy as many deodorants contain aluminium, which I quit using as my mother had Alzheimer's disease...long story. Anyway I have used baking soda for more than 25 years! No one has held their nose even at the gym yet!

Did you ever get rashy from it? Help!? It really worked for the deodorant but I got very uncomfortable in my underarms? I went back to Dove because I don’t want to stink or have a rash but if I could troubleshoot I would go back to baking soda.

@@annettejasso101 just use about a 1/2 - 3/4 tsp of bs. I had the burning happen, when I first used bs (which I use for just about everything!), and I had used way too much. I eventually tried it as a deodorant again, using about 3/4 tsp, for each application (ie per 1 armpit)) It worked really well.

Great tips! People should be aware that using baking soda on the skin might not agree with them. Our skin has an acid mantle that likes to be at a pH of about 5.5. Baking soda is very alkaline, so applying it to the skin disrupts the skin barrier, which could lead to dry or irritated skin. In immunocompromised people it can allow infections to take hold. Also, baking soda on the face may be too abrasive for some people's skin.

A great way to combat that is to cut it with a starch of some sort as a binding agent. Arrow root or tapioca flour work well for this.

These are all great tips! Baking soda may work for bottle labels, but a hairdryer on high is MUCH quicker and can be used on anything, including boxes shipped to you so you can reuse them!

exactly getting the label off is the tip of the iceberg, but some of the glues are still resistant to everything, then I have to use a razor blade and it is really nasty but I hate to toss a beautiful glass bottle that I use for collecting water from my Berkey filter, or for staples like lentils, rice, etc.

The key to this tip is to make sure the shower is wet before you cover with the baking soda and dawn dish soap mixture. Then you spray on the vinegar that you have put into a spray bottle. Then, you go watch a movie. When you come back after the movie is over, the dirt and gunk in your shower will just easily scrub off with a sponge. Then use the shower to get rid of everything down the drain (which will also get a nice cleaning.)

I use Arm and Hammer baking soda deodorant. I can start smelling “dissatisfaction” by early afternoon. I decided to try just rubbing baking soda under my pits for the past two days. I’m kind of shocked how well it works. I work from home and sometimes skip a day showering. No problem. I just took a good whiff after not showering today and I’m as fresh as ever. I plan on getting the aluminum free stuff soon. I might mix it in with some coconut oil and a drop of essential oils and try that. Can’t believe how cheap and simple this is. Oh, and effective! When it dries, it looks very dull and streaky, so I need to go back over it again with something else…even if I wash it away with dish soap, it’s dull! You've actually missed some of the most impressive! First: to clean serious kitchen grease (exhaust fan innards, for instance) it cuts through like nothing else, even more than castile soap which is for lesser-grease messes. Second: for kitchen floor grout, again, baking soda and very hot water, made into a loose paste and put in a squeezy bottle. Once dry residue can be swept or vacuumed, then a hot water rinse with a bit of vinegar gets the rest of it off. Third and finally, after polishing metals (which one can do with lemon juice and salt BTW), baking soda rubbed on the metal gets rid of the polish residue, then baking soda and a bit of water gets rid of all the icky black stuff on your hands and at least mostly deoderizes them!

Thank you SO MUCH! I got the idea from this video to try your baking soda fix for mirrors on cloudy wine glasses I had tried so many DIY treatments on - which only helped somewhat if at all. I was about to go buy some CLR and try that but saw your video . I'm waiting to see if the last layer of cloudiness is removed by the baking soda exfoliant/paste I made to clean the glasses with. Great news, I just checked and the glasses are nearly dry and the baking soda treatment has made a GIANT difference as the glasses are as clear as they were when they were new.
Just wondering though, how much baking soda should a household have on hand to be able to use it for all these applications?

For use as deoderant; it does totally work well! However, it burns if you shave😬 I learned that actually, if you give yourself about a month (I know, a long time), you won't even need deoderant. Like your body goes thru a cleanse, and you won't stink anymore (individual situations may vary, of course). Unfortunately, I'm hooked on antiperspirant because I sweat easily & live in the desert now. It is so painful to be constantly wet.... If anyone has any advice, I'll take it!

Baking soda, apple cider vinegar or a clarifying shampoo. Don't do it everyday because it will dry out your scalp. Maybe up to 3 times tops

Baking soda is great! It really does amazing things as a deodorant, but I like many others get a bit of am underarm rash when using it.
I have noticed that the amount of baking soda I use does make a difference in how much agitation I experience, so I recommend for people to play with the baking soda ratio (and consider mixing with “buffers” like coconut oil/shea butter or kaolin/bentonite clay to see if you can get a mixture that is gentle enough on your skin. You really don’t need much of the baking soda to nix underarm odor, so be careful of using too much-that has made the biggest difference for me.
I really appreciate that such a simple, affordable natural mineral can fight underarm odor so completely.
I like baking soda for house cleaning, too but I find borax usually works better for me in a lot of cases (like cleaning toilets, bathrooms, very dirty dishes, my stove top) as there’s less elbow grease involved.
Still, for things like windows and other places that need a more gentle touch, baking soda’s where it’s at.

Also you could flip the jar upsidedown on a baking sheet with aluminium foil and put it in the oven for 15 minutes at warm temperature (not too hot), the wax should melt and drip on the foil so you can remove it easily when it's cold.

I know your question is a couple months old, but it's totally fine for the washing machine 😊

It’ll also increase the alkalinity in your pool/spa/hot tub if that’s low. It’ll also raise the ph a tad though so just make sure you adjust the ph also. Water Alkalinity should be between 80 and 120.

I use it to make tooth paste, I use it as a mild abrasive cleaner for surfaces and pots and pans, I use it to deodorize, I use it in my laundry, occasionally I use it as deodorant, I use it to clean my kitchen sink, my bath tub and the toilet. I think the better question would be what don't I use it for.

On a weekly basis, to shine up my sink and inside my toilet. On a monthly basis I use it when cleaning my indoor trash cans.

I always, (since forever, Dad was a big baking soda fan) keep baking soda in a sprinkle top container right by the sink. I sprinkle it over the dishes while they soak and clean my dish container & sink afterwards. Also, it’s very helpful in cleaning the electric glass stove top.

I’ve made the scrub with dish soap and baking soda, and I stored it in a wide mouth mason jar. It kept for several months. It will dry out if you keep it longer than that.

💌 I like the baking soda and coconut oil for hand or foot scrub. I also have tried a foot soak in a mini tub of a gallon of water or so and 3 Tablespoons baking soda for 5 minutes or longer. I t is nice and relaxing technique.

My question is when you did your tips and hacks with vinegar you mentioned that you should choose vinegar and baking soda to wash your sink yet this time you just said use water and baking soda. Also you stated that vinegar was to be added to your wash for all its deodorizing properties but in this video you said that baking to this should be added to the wash so does this mean that you can add either or? Love all your tips thanks for always being there love watching your videos thank you for all that you do.

Yes, I think this video was more baking soda centric for those who don't really want to use the other cleaner. My husband hates the smell of vinegar but I'd still like to use something natural so this is probably a better solution for myself and people in my situation.
