In 1976, a 13 year old girl, Nanette Martin, who was also a paper carrier/delivery, disappeared while on her route. 3 days later, they found her dismembered body in 2 garbage bags. Detectives later learned she had been held captive for 2 days, tortured, raped, then strangled. They arrested Thomas Edward mahrt, (28) and he was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 99 years. He's eligible for parole in 2096. What led to his arrest was (if i remember right) the landlord had been in his apartment and came across pictures of Nanette, nude, tied up. He also found her glasses there. There are some sick, sick people living among us 💔
I watched the story of Danny on Forensic Files. He loved his bike. When his parents saw his bike sitting alone they knew something was wrong. RIP Danny
Great video. Love how when you were talking about the Indian chief there was a big clap of thunder and it started raining. It’s like he was telling you his spirit was there 😊😊
As someone just getting over COVID 19 and having Heart Disease, COPD, and type 2 diabetes I can assure you life is precious and we all should count each second as a blessing. No matter what we go through we will eventually get through it and come out the other side wiser. How odd that when you were talking about Chief Big Elk, the storm rolled in. They say that all Chief's are mystics. Maybe that was his way of letting you know he could hear you.
Green burial intrigues me.. I worked at a funeral home and when COVID-19 hit I was laid off for the owners son to take my place. The cost of a funeral is unbelievable especially when it’s unexpected. You have to pay for it upfront or be able to take out a loan to cover the cost.. when some of the families could not afford a casket they had no choice but to cremate even though it was against the wishes of the deceased.. no plots.. no headstone.. no memory.. it’s sad and it’s all to do with money.. everyone deserves to be remembered.. thank you for everything you do.. Let their names tell a story.
Another great video. Thankfully this murderer was caught. Unfortunately alot of these murders remain unsolved after the years they tend to be forgotten. So many unfulfilled lives taken and gone too soon. Makes you appreciate the little things in life. Never take a moment for granted and live each day like it's your last
The little boy, Danny, with the paper route passed away 6 days before my daughter was born. It's not exactly how the cycle of life should work. We shouldn't have to bury our children, not at any age, but especially when they are still children.
Thanks for doing such great work! So interesting. I grew up in Bellevue and my parents are buried in this cemetery. On a clear day it has a beautiful hilltop view of the Missouri River Valley and the high river bluffs across the river in Iowa. I saw graves of 3 friends in this video. An added note about Danny, this was the first murder we had in Bellevue in the 13 years I had lived there (and I am sure decades before) and everyone was pretty freaked out. The hunt for his killer went on forever and he actually turned out to be a serial killer. It was so bizarre because he was an Air Force sergeant stationed at the 55th Reconnaissance Wing at local Offutt Air Force Base who never missed a beat and kept on working normally right under their noses . For weeks, the artist's sketch of him was posted everywhere in town including in the hanger he worked in (in multiple locations). It wasn't that the sketch was that off or anything its just that no one suspected it to be a GI at the base and also there was no reason to suspect him. Everything normal; nothing suspicious. He also murdered 12 year old Christopher Walden in Bellevue 3 months later. He was actually caught cruising a day care center looking for another victim after a vague witness in the Walden case set them on there way to finding him. Here is a link on History.com about it. www.history.com/this-day-in-history/a-13-year-olds-dead-body-turns-up. Good summation. It was figured out during the investigation that a boy was killed in near a base where he had previously been stationed (Maine, I think) and he was charged with that murder also. Remember it like yesterday; it was a horrifying for, what was then, a MUCH smaller town.
I lived in the cemetery in Riverside MO when I was younger for a little while with my aunts who worked there. I would walk around the cemetery and read the headstones names and dates. Alot of the children that died had a heart for their headstone.
Hi Lamont. Glad you are well. Thanks for the tour. I went walking on my own in the local cemetery. I’ve always walked in cemeteries but with the gyms closed and social distancing I’m walking more
