I was also sort of crushed when Catherine Disher wasn't back as Jean. Val Cooper (who I was familiar with and is an interesting character) does have insane gravity with her performance, though.
Catherine Disher is the definitive Jean and I prefer her over Jennifer Hale. But I also understand why they went with Hale for the role in '97. The newer cast voices are more conversational in their delivery, and Hale fits in better with that style than Disher would have, especially in her dialogue with Scott. I still miss Disher in the role and think I would've preferred her, but I've also accepted Hale as the replacement. It's also nice that Hale retains a bit of Disher's delivery style with Jean's dialogue, rather than how she voiced the character in Wolverine & the X-Men.

An interesting fact. Disher has also voiced Psylocke in the arcade game. Two different psychics.
