    Lost my mother at 6, my father carried me and 3 brothers on his own, so this song means a great deal to me, awsome song, and awsome parents. TY

      Yvonne Trott look up Pastor Bob Joyce. He is alive and well and living under that name since he had to fake his death to get away from the bad people and keep his family safe. Lisa has always had her daddy! Priscilla never remarried. Because they are still honoring their vows from 55 years ago! Research and you'll find everything you're looking for! Happy findings...

    Elvis didn't have to write songs, songwriters are all over him writing songs for him, his massive talent for your info, aside from beautifully blended of voice, he had this amazing interpretation of song w/ passion & emotion, he enlivened every song he sang, he arranged the songs, he orchestrated to his standards. He was everything as an entertainer. If you hear & watch they way he sang those selected 100s of songs, you will understand.

  • @_Conzo_

    Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Pat Boone, Jerry Lee Lewis, the list goes on, were all amazing. Elvis, however, was just in the right place at the right time. His music was rebellious, loud and dangerous for its time and, he was bloody gorgeous. The females loved him and the adults resented him, that's why he was so loved. Also, Elvis' vocal range far surpassed anything the people mentioned above could sing. To go from Jailhouse Rock to Crying In The Chapel to Gospel is astounding.

    YOU ARE SO RIGHT, ELVIS DID NOT NEED TO WRITE HIS MUSIC. MOST ENTERTAINERS IN THE 50'S,60'S AND EARLY DID NOT WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC. THAT'S WHAT SONWRITERS WERE FOR !!! HE WAS A MASTER AT ARRANGING , ORCHESTRATING AND RECORDING HIS MUSIC TO HIS EXACTING STANDARDS.! LISTEN TO THE WORDS IN HIS SONGS, THE EMOTIONS AND HEARTFELT WAY HE SANG THEM, IF HE DIDN'T FEEL THE SONG HE DIDN'T RECORD IT. !!!!

    See, I don't see why people don't think he had a normal life style like us. Maybe not all the time sure. But most of the time he seemed like he had a normal life. He loved those two girls a lot. They where his life. And people don't see it as a normal life style because he was very famous. It doesn't mean famous people can't live normal lives if they wanted to. They are people too you know, just well known people now.

    bottom line ? Elvis was famous not because of his voice but because he was the BRIDGE he brought ALL people together he mixed it up and his coffee coloured style and sound connected to ALL and he knew (as most people know) that MUSIC doesn't have a racial, religious, nor political affiliation Music just IS and so was Elvis !

    Too bad Elvis couldn't have gotten into a detox program, hired a vegan chef and lived a fulfilling life, one which included balanced nutrition and regular exercise. He succumbed to drugs, Southern comfort food and the ravages of non-diagnosed depression. So sad. I have always loved him and would have liked to to have told him so. More importantly, I would have made it clear that my love for him was unconditional and that I expected nothing in return. Parasites just took advantage of his innate goodness and generosity.

    maybe Elvis didn't know about Otis financial situation I'm sure if he did he would've helped him BIG TIME Elvis Presley grew up in a poverty stricken environment he was a shy lonely kid He publicly said he hung out mostly with the black folks in his area because they accepted him and he credited them for his inspiration for music & for teaching him to sing Elvis was not a racist I'm sure those black people who exposed him to their sound and style were very proud of their student.by default !

    Now that's a thing I'm realy tired of hearing. Elvis is not labeled as "Elvis Presley: Singer/Songwriter," he was "Elvis Presley: Singer." If Elvis had claimed that he wrote songs, then yes, I would be annoyed but did he? No, never. And to be honest, I couldn't give a damn whether I did or not. I love the man and I love his music. End of story, mhm?

I don't know why that person is on their "high Horse" so to speak. Doesn't sound like they really know what they are talking about. i've known Elvis since 1954 and some of his family. This person is just running off at the mouth about things they know nothing of, except maybe from the trashy media papers.

    I was raised to think if anyone, Bill Hailey was the king of rock, because Rock Around the Clock is the signature tune of the genre, and was introduced in the first rock movie ever, i.e; Blackboard Jungle. Don McLean also wrote American Pie about Buddy Holly. There were so many other pioneers and originators who were so profound, and influential, it seems almost a crime to worship Elvis as if he is some kind of god, considering the man never actually wrote a single song!

    @ZEITGEIST @ZEITGEISTism Why would super-talented song writers like Otis Blackwell or Arthur Crudup need anybody to hold their hand? They were the ones with all the talent, ffs! Why do they need this big white "mazza", Elvis Presley to hold their hands and escort them into the music industry! They WERE the music industry, like Michael Jackson said at Harlem, but they were flushed out and subsumed by the "system", which is fundamentally biased toward white, sanatised, guitar rock

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    I agree with just about everything you have said, but none of it justifies Elvis being lauded as a "king" above all others, or the way people speak about "Graceland" as if it is some kind of spiritual home or royal dominion. The Presleys are not real royalty, "king" is just a metaphorical title, it is widely open to subjectivity!

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    @MrElvis96 No he did not claim to be a songwriter, but just like is implicit in Descarte's ontological argument that the concept of "god" must necessarily contain the concept of existence, surely, if you are going to posit a singer as "the king of rock and roll" it must imply at least some measure of songwriting ability? Elvis Presley had none!

    • @CECICEO-cz9ho
      @CECICEO-cz9ho 6 років тому +1

      You're trying to use too big a vocabulary for yourself and it makes you sound really STUPID ........

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    PRESLEY KNOWS THIS, SHE KNOWS IT WELL, BUT SAYING THE NAME "MICHAEL JACKSON" IS LIKE A MAGIC CHARM, EVEN SAYING "ELVIS" WON'T GET HER THE SAME LEVERAGE. SAYING MICHAEL'S NAME GETS HER ON TV, INTO MAGAZINES, AND SHE HAS EVEN EXPLOITED HIS NAME TO HELP HER LAUNCH HER NO-GOOD, TONE-DEAF CAREER. EVEN I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ELVIS HAD A SINGING VOICE, BUT HIS DAUGHTER CAN NOT SING FOR SHIT AND SHE UNETHICALLY EXPLOITS MICHAEL JACKSON'S NAME AT EVERY TURN AND ERRONEOUSLY CLAIMS TO BE HIS EX "WIFE" - A LIE!

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    Listen, it's no skin of someone like Elvis Presley's nose to say he liked black people - what has he got to lose? But people who were close to him have said in interviews that he did not approve of, amongst other things, mixed marriages. That sounds like a bigot to me - or worse! Many people have cited Elvis as a racist, he may not have been a serious racist but he was still bigoted enough to attract a lot of hatred from people who feel he manipulated and stole the music of black originators.

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    @ZEITGEISTism You think Michael Jackson needed anybody to hold his hand when he broke through for black artists on MTV? No, of course not! Black artists are more than capable of paving their own way in music, rock and roll is their music ANYWAY, so nobody needs a day nurse or a nanny, that is just racist bullshit to excuse the fact that no black man will ever be called the king of rock; not Chuck Berry, not Little Richard, not even an Hispanic like Richie Valens.

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    @ZEITGEISTism Well you're onbviously a strong Elvis fan which is fair enough, I can see his fans are very dedicated and I respect that, but sorry, your understanding of social politics and the music industry is all ass-up and takes conveniently from most commonly used propaganda lines. Let's just clear one thing up - Elvis did not "pave the way" for black artists; he replaced black artists!

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    @ZEITGEISTism It's like if I paint some great artwork; I invent the brush-strokes, I pioneer the entire genre, then someone else comes along and gets rich and famous out of it, and I am told they did me a "favour" because they stole my style and I died penniless! It is a ridiculous concept and one that has been conveniently used by racists time and time again.

  • @BDSaysHi
    @BDSaysHi 12 років тому

    Not only did Elvis and his washed out, boring, pseudo rock obscure the talent of god knows how many black artists, but he also stomped all over the real white rockabillies too, the good ol' boys of the true medium, like Bill Hailey and Buddy Holly. These guys shit all over Elvis, Holly wrote and produced all his own material, but Elvis is the love-child of John Wayne and J Edgar Hoover, so they glorified him above all other rockers.
