Fully agree with the Sawk comment. It’s almost uncanny valley in appearance and making it tall is terrifying.

It's all called route 8 because it is all part of the same path leading you from one location to another, in this case Hammerlocke to Circhester.
It's a long distance, cutting through multiple habitats, but it's still all just 1 path.
Note: This isn’t a consistent philosophy among Pokémon games. It's been true since at least Kalos (with the exception of Abrette town) and possibly Unova, but Sinnoh absolutely would have split those up into multiple routes.

I had already completed Shield and was just messing around in the Northern Wild area trying to hatch eggs. Ran into the first Vanillite I'd ever encountered in the game and it was shiny. I avoid every single other one in my Shield save file just so it can stay my only encounter. I technically haven't ever come across a regular one as far as the game is concerned.
I had a dream where I was shiny hunting Pokemon and I specifically remember that Vanillish looked like strawberry ice cream
I've seen a Shiny Sawk. I encountered one years ago when I played Pokémon White. It's rather underwhelming as it's just a darker shade of blue.
