I absolutely think this video was so awesome! So many artists don't understand why they can't get past that amateurish look in their projects, and you explained it perfectly.
Thank you so much and I'm especially glad you like this video. It's been through a couple of thumbnails and at least 3 title changes, trying to find the right audience here at UA-cam who would appreciate it. I'm glad it finally found you and thank you for letting me know that it resonated with you!
Love this!!! As my Copic colors selection is very small, primarily the greys & a few skin tones... The markers make the process so much faster. However, I'll need to use the options of possibly Inktense & Colored pencils for this one.... Or potentially just greyscale
What about a grayscale base with Inktense over the top? I've never done it before but if the grays stay on the lighter end, I think the Inktense could totally work. Who knows, maybe you'll invent a new style!
Thank you! Yes, I always use either live or photo references and I always teach with photo references. This project was a combination of photographs and actually, that's the class lesson. We mentally combined two references and then changed the colors of several eggs. Every student creates totally different egg sets based on their favorite colors and taste/style.
Fantastic content. I only just discovered your channel and have already learned so much about markers from you. I'd like to join the Underpainters group. How many Copics do I need? I've got everything else. If you send me an affiliate link for the Copic markers I need to get going to join the group, I'd be happy to support you. I liked and subbed and can't wait to learn more about this medium.
Hi Ruth-- here's a link to the Underpainters: vanilla-workshops.teachable.com/p/underpainters It's an open media group. I work in marker + pencil but we have others doing watercolor only, watercolor mix, plus two digital painters. You would fit in nicely with your Pan Pastel base and could skip the markers entirely. If you do want to learn markers, because everyone chooses their own colors, you could easily purchase just the colors you think you'd use each month. BTW, I need to update the sales page linked above. The group just recently voted to slow down and stretch the monthly projects over a 2 month period. So now, the first month is the big challenge and then in the second month, I offer a related skill challenge plus we do a live Color-Over demonstration where I help someone improve their project and there's lots of Q&A.

So important a point - that almost no one ever teaches. Just do art. Take the training wheels off. Great video.
I'll definitely catch this replay!!!!
Thanks, Cheri. I appreciate your constant bubbly enthusiasm. Let me know what you think when you're done. Much love!!!

Your drawing is so beautiful, do you use a reference photo?
