WHAT'S YOUR CHOICE?
Are you (or a loved one / student etc.) looking for a set of budget cymbals? Which do you prefer out of @ZildjianCompany Planet Z, @meinlcymbalsHCS, @PaisteChannel 101 or @SabianVault SBR series?

Somehow, Drummer's Review made the Meinl HCS set sound halfway decent, but gently used, high quality cymbals are the way to go! There are multiple Facebook groups where I've found a complete set of A Customs, AAX, Byzances, 2002's, for just $100-$200 more than a brand new set of these trash can lid packs.
Dont buy new budget, get used cymbals on the secondary market.
Buy nice or buy twice.

@@bijikedelai Someday I may get some Meinls although I love my Istanbuls.
Second hand / broken and repaired professional cymbals are a MILLION times better...
That said, the Paiste hats and ride are surprisingly usable in my experience.
I've also used the crash as a bottom hi-hat along with thin high end crashes and it works much better there than as a crash IMO.
With a crash upgrade, I believe this set could last some time in a setup.
Since I actively use a 13 inch set of Planet Z hi hats for live shows, I guess Zildjian is the winner in my book. I find that they avoid those sharp notes others can have, whilst being very present in the mix.
But for the paiste is pst 3. PST 3 is in the same price range with meinl hcs and sabian sbr. 101 is a lot of cheaper
I don't car for budget cymbals at all but the Meinls sounded the best

Dont buy budget cymbals produced by big brands. Buy Zultan cymbals instead.
Yes, thats the way. I have Anatolian cymbals and there is no comparison with cymbals in this video.
