I love mine. I had the iPad mini 4 and decided to give it to my daughter. I wanted a larger screen and something to replace my 2015 MacBook. I use my iPad for work, web browsing, UA-cam videos, movies, and streaming. Thinking about adding a keyboard to make typing easier. I don’t type much on my iPad, but it would be nice to have a keyboard when I need it. This iPad is a steal considering the iPad mini 5 is more expensive with a smaller screen. The iPad 7 is perfect for all of my needs.

I just got mine on Black Friday for school and I’m LOVING IT! I was able to study for my anatomy lab a lot easier with being able to erase and write on the pictures I can download ☺️ I say it’s perfect for students on a tight budget. I also have a MacBook Pro to pair with it so while I wish I could afford an iPad Pro, this is perfect enough for me.
Farron Hodge I’m currently using Goodnotes 4 because it can back up into google drive and onedrive that I use for school, but planning to switch to Goodnotes 5 once it can do that as well (it only backs up to iCloud rn). I heard Notability is an excellent app as well! I’ve found very small differences between Goodnotes and Notability so I would recommend either one!

the 2018 ipad already had apple pencil support, the only difference between 2018 and 2019 ipad is one more GB of ram, smart keyboard support, and a slightly bigger screen/smaller bezels. (10.2 inch instead of 9.7 inch)

Bought one for my wife and when I hold it in my one hand and my iPad Pro in the other Hand I dont even feel a differnce in weight or thiccness. Perfect machine, I even like Touch ID more for a tablet...but if it only wasnt for that air gap 😩
The 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 is nearly the same price and has a better A10X processor with stereo speakers. It’s definitely better for the same price than the 10.2 iPad.

im not a student anymore but same here i bought the 2018 ipad and although im a little bummed out for not having the smart keyboard support, and space gray looks much better in 2019 than the 2018 which just looks like an ugly silver, it's still nearly the same ipad and works wonderfully. the only downside is the 2018 ipad only has 2GB of ram instead of 3 like the 2019 ipad. So you might notice more app refreshing on the old ipad if you compare it to the new one.
For Me the ram is not a problem, the task I do it just works fine, and I think you can get a better Bluetooth keyboard for the price of the Smart Keyboard. But still and awesome device I can be work and in 2 minutos I unplug everything and I’m in bed watching Netflix.
If you bought the 6th gen iPad, then iPadOS is available which adds pencil support and you can always get a bluetooth keyboard (Logitech has great options). The specs are virtually the same except the size and RAM.
not to criticize or anything but "thin and light" is basically 7.8 mm thick, so an "ok thickness" but also it's the heaviest iPad which is 483 grams. so it's kinda hefty but totally manageable, but still not the easiest iPad to use

I think the reason they used the A10 instead of the A11 is because it would need a redesign, which costs money, and would compete more with their own products, so they wanted to keep a distinction between the base ipad and the ipad air.
Guys, don’t buy the Logitech slim folio since it breaks so easily. I had one for a year with my 6th gen iPad and the keys started popping out. Plus it requires batteries. I’d say if you really need a keyboard just get the Smart Keyboard. Yes it’s expensive but it’s a lot thinner and won’t be that prone to breaking.

Alex Artiga I have the sixth generation iPad (it’s pretty similar to the 10.2) and there isn’t any lag with the Apple Pencil. I can only say it responds slightly slower than a pro, but it’s not noticeable unless u compare it next to a pro. It’s been useful for me in school with taking notes and presentations. Drawing and writing with an Apple Pencil has been buttery smooth for me so I can suggest u to try the device before purchasing it.
How do you insert citations for your essays? Does zotero or end note work with ipad os? Also, is it possible to do statistical calculations using SPSS or STATA on ipad os?

That air gap was the reason I went for the Air 3 instead. For $120 more (Air was on sale), it was a no brainer for me.

Support/CPU is the only advantage. Unless you plan to keep your iPad for more than 5 years, the A10X should still be supported.

Zotero doesn't work with pages. So no. For statistical calculations I doubt the iPad will do it. There may be apps
