  • What's up! In this video I share 3 IMPORTANT nutrition tips to consider to take your boxing training and performance to the next level. A huge mistake many fighters make (myself included) is eating the wrong types and amount of food.
    A big mistake I use to make is eat a lot of "unhealthy" food. I say "unhealthy" because there isn't really a bad or good food but rather a good or bad diet. I define unhealthy food as food that does not contribute to my immediate goal. For example, eating very oily and high fat food periworkout (around training) isn't the greatest idea when the goal is to have an optimal training session. However eating very oily and high fat food may be an optimal plan for someone looking to add some size and weight.
    CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT. When it comes to nutrition there is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL.
    In this video I share 3 crucial tips to take your boxing to the next level. I cover these tips in depth:
    Tip #1 HYDRATION
    Tip #2 PROTEIN
    Tip #3 CARBOHYDRATES
    Do not fear the weight gain that comes from carbohydrate because it is MOST LIKLEY water weight gain and water weight fluctuations on the daily. If you are consuming a hyper caloric diet THEN you should maybe consider where the extra weight is coming from... (food content in the gastrointestinal tract, water, glycogen, lean muscle mass AND FAT)
    In the future, I'll make videos on specific meals and foods! For all weight classes!

    You are very knowledgeable in boxing and in nutrition. My son is 14 and he is an amateur boxer. I came across your videos and it has helped a lot to understand the nutrition he needs to perform at his best. The proper Nutrition has definitely made a positive change in his performance. As his mother I want to learn to be able to support him and keep him healthy and strong not only in his body but his brain. I want him to be a well balanced boxer. What nutrition online programs do you recommend so I can continue to learn and grow in this area????? Thanks!

    Any tips for a beginner in the sport? I am currently on the path of signing up at a boxing gym and a little intimidated. This video helped with understanding on what my body would need when I workout but now I need that psychological advice. I was never of a fighter growing or even now but I understand as time goes on i knew I need to start changing my lifestyle and also need to be able to defend myself in this world. I think the thought of fighting someone is just the scary part.

    • @toddherrera5977
      @toddherrera5977 9 місяців тому +4

      Oh, the psychological part comes when sparring. You have the confidence that you won't die in sparring.
      Second, out in the real world, well after months of training you now have a confidence that you won't die in a street fight
      Third, after years of training, now the scary part is getting legal actions for murder.

    Thanks for the breakdown,
    What are your thoughts on diet sodas?

    • @ElYuyuBoxing
      @ElYuyuBoxing  Рік тому

      You’re welcome! Drinking diet soda is an easy way to swap (eliminate) calories if you’re looking to eat less calories. A 12oz REGULAR soda can have about 140 calories whereas a diet soda has 0 calories. It’s not uncommon to see people drink 2-5 cans of soda PER DAY! That’s anywhere from 280kcals - 700kcals! Making this simple change can be enough to put someone in a calorie deficit by no other means. I drink a can of diet soda every other day or so!
      TLDR: 12oz Soda= 140kcals… Diet Soda= 0 kcals

    I have a question, why would you need to change the carbohydrate amount higher or lower depending on if you are in training camp or not? Shouldn't you be eating the same amount if not more because the intensity and duration of training camp will be more than out of training camp? This is all based off of a fighter who is training within their weight target at all times so that there isn't a weight cut. Or is it because you want to develop a bigger frame as your base size so when you drop the weight for weigh in and then bring it back up you gain a size advantage for fight night? Or is it because you want to walk around your natural weight because it's comfortable or something? But Floyd Mayweather apparently kept within 3-4 lbs of his weight class. Thanks.

    • @ElYuyuBoxing
      @ElYuyuBoxing  Рік тому +1

      In an ideal world, fighters would fight in a weight class that doesn't require any cut. The reality is 95%+ of fighters do a weight cut in order to get somewhat of an advantage even though that's not always the case. The reason to drop the carbohydrate intake is to reduce the total calorie intake which will drop the weight over time. Carbs are important for performance and recovery so it is CRUCIAL to not drop too low unless you're in the final stage of an acute weight cut and not training hard any longer. Every fighter is different. Some do big weight cuts others do small weight cuts. Boxing is different compared to MMA where the weight doesn't have as big of an advantage because there is no ground game.

    How do you eat 4 times a day and maintain weight?

  • @mikke906
    @mikke906 Рік тому +2

    You think it's bad to eat only around 1PM and then practice boxing around 6PM without any other meal? I just don't get hungry or feel way too full if I eat a few hours before boxing.

    • @ElYuyuBoxing
      @ElYuyuBoxing  Рік тому +3

      I don't think it is bad. If you feel discomfort eating close to training then there is no need to add food especially if you're training in the evenings and already have had a few meals in your system. I would say have a post workout meal or shake and you should be solid.

    • @mikke906
      @mikke906 Рік тому +2

      @@ElYuyuBoxing thanks for the reply. I definitely feel too full and heavy while training if i eat after 1. I was just worried that maybe I wasn't fueling up enough for my work out by doing this. I do try to at least have a protein shake after the workout. Keep up the great work 🥊
