She's been turning down every proposal, wearing Daemon's necklace and even touching it while listening to proposals then she talks about marriage, children and Daemon's wife. I didn't think they were being particularly subtle with who Rhaenyra's mind was on.

It's been REALLY obvious that Rhaenyra is into Daemon, especially earlier in this episode, so I'm not sure how anyone can miss all those signs. It's been less obvious how Daemon feels because while he has treated her differently, one could interpret that as him having ulterior motives or special feelings but not romantically. However the brothel scene and his drunken confrontation with the king afterwards convinced me that he loves her too and had perhaps just come to the full realization of it.
Daemon planned for them to be caught together but his conscience kicked in so he felt guilty about using her and couldn't physically go through with it. That's why he stormed out from the brothel and drank a lot. When confronted by Viserys, he decided to shoot his shot and asked for her hand. Rhaenyra basically used Ser Criston to relieve her desire and frustration after being rejected by Daemon, the producers said he was the one available. Milly Alcock said Rhaenyra likes Criston but she would not choose him over Daemon.
29:18 Targaryen genes aren't necessarily always STRONG. In the book, Princess Rhaenys (the queen who never was) actually has a black hair, because her mother is baratheon, but she still have purple eyes like most of targaryens. Only when she's in her 50s she got silver streak in her hair. Not because of her targaryen gene but most likely because of she's getting older. There are actually few more examples when Targaryen's silver hair traits doesn't get passed down, especially when they're not practicing incest lol. This is actually very big topic that will show up in the story. You'll see.
How could anyone think that Daemon loved Rhaenyra as a father? Their scenes are full of high tension, and they always speak in Valyrian which tells you about the complicity they have. I really think he loves Rhaenyra, but he also has ambition for the throne. It could be both, having feelings for his niece but using her for power. I think that's why he stopped, because he didn't see himself able to sully her at all. I don't know, for me it's pretty obvious that they will end up together, they are too similar, and the only people who feel comfortable being themselves.
The first scene is her touching the necklace daemon gave her 4 years ago when’s she’s supposed to be looking for a husband so a hint there who she really wants lol. Daemon stopped because he didn’t want to use her while trying to piss his brother off so him asking for her hand in marriage was legit. She only went to Cole after dameon stopped in the middle and taught her if she not happy with a marriage she can have sex with who she want. It’s obvious who Rhaenyra wants lol she lights up whenever daemon is near lol

in fact , Daemon has pretty thought through everything in this episode . Rhaenyra is the wife he likes, she loves him, they have power together if married. He made sure that they were noticed, he knew that Otto would find out about it and tell the king, he thought that because her reputation was a little damaged, Viserys would marry her off, but it didn't work out a little. I am sure that he could also calculate that after Otto starts reporting on Rheanyra, Viserys may open eyes that he cannot be trusted. So Daemon is the MVP. I do think Rhaenyra actually likes Cristan but not loves him and maybe under different circumstances she he would be like her second choice of someone to be with….. yeah it’s possible to develop feelings for more than one person
Daemon removed her hat cause he wanted her to be seen. he planned everything in the 4 years he was away. he knew he aint go all the way with her but told king he did because perception
@@maxvickrey4357 the showrunners have said that it was partially guilt because he knew he was doing a wrong thing and was manipulating her but also whiskey dick/impotence. So it was both. He couldn't get it up and he felt guilty about what he was doing because he actually cares about her and, last minute, didn't want to be using her, to get her hand in marriage, in the way that he was. He knew rumours would spread because he purposely took her hat off when they got into the brothel.
Daemon loves his family (he said that only he could speak ill of his brother), Rhaenyra was scared that it would happen to her like her mother, that they impregnated her until she died, and Daemon taught her that in addition to duty there is also pleasure, in addition to showing her how people is and what the they think of her.
Episodes 4 + 5 are story of Princess R's marriage. You'll notice the score that opens this episode is the same score that plays us out at the end of the next episode. And it's f*cking PERFECT! SO GOOD.
You *really* think Daemon Targaryen, a man who has never hidden how much he loves being a Targaryen and being of Valryian decent, was "grossed out" about engaging in an incestuous activity? When his and Visrerys' own parents were brother and sister? That man doesn't care at all that he and Rhaenrya are related. He probably deeply relishes that they are, since that is their way, and has been since the days the Targayens were still living in Old Valyria. What stopped Daemon was guilt about using her in such a way, not the incest.
The director of this episode said that Daemon couldn't do it with Rhaenyra cause he felt guilty in that situation... It means that deep down Daemon really cares about Rhaenyra, not that he's impotent and he was unable (physically) to do it, as many ppl said... lmao. Daemon left her there cause he kinda felt that this is wrong and he didn't want to hurt her. Actually it's sweet and sad at the same time cause we know what happened next 😐 She made a terrible decision... Quality HotD reactors are rare. Thank you both sincerely for being rare. Daemon became impotent (second time in four episodes) because Rhaenyra became the sexual aggressor. That's why he got pissed and left. It was discussed during the 'Inside the Episode' segment. And Daemon (or Rhaenyra) didn't get grossed out at all. He wanted to have sex with her so she would become 'sullied' in the eyes of the realm and he could then pitch Viserys on wedding her to him because no other Lord would have her. And it was also a way of getting back at Viserys, proving the overt deference he had for his brother at the beginning of the episode did indeed have ulterior motives underneath.
Considering how much Viserys values history and the importance of "dreams", I don't think he'll ever consider Daemon as his heir. Plus he just keeps messing up.
You can read the books to find out more about the Blackwoods. They are a very interesting house. The Blackwoods were once Northerners but after Aegon's conquest they moved to the Riverlands (for reasons I won't tell). As they were originally from the North, the blood of the first Men flows in their veins. Lord Brynden Rivers (Bloodraven - the guy who taught Bran Stark) is a half Blackwood (his mother was Melissa Blackwood).

Daemon is a bad boy and for Targaryens its not repulsive to keep it in the family. He openly ignores the king's commands, he's a warrior and fellow dragon rider, and they get along fairly well.
I think this was all Daemon's plan, hes playing 4D Chess. He put Rhaenyra in a position to get Otto fired. I think Daemon is just using Rhaenyra, praying on her moods. Gets her in the mood to have sex and then he just leaves. So then Rhaenyra is left still wanting to get laid and makes her way to Criston. Also don't forget Daemon deliberatly let Rhaenyra's hair down because he knew Otto has spies everywhere. Daemon's a freaking genius :D
I don't think Daemon was grossed out at all. There's a different issue that we also saw in episode one. I love how many different theories there are though. Everyone thinks it's something different.
I think if Daemon knew Otto's little birds were watching, it was a big gamble for him knowing his brother banished him again after how many days? Daemon found a way to get in trouble after 4 years being gone and it only took a day, perhaps? 🤣 But he did get Otto fired by letting the crowd see who they were. A commenter said Daemon tried to frame Rhaenyra so he can marry her knowing since she's already deflowered, no man would take her. Perhaps. Another is he got limp again (show runners said this) but also because he was feeling guilty. He cares about Rhaenyra and doesn't want to use her as a pawn. The other being Daemon wanted to get back at Viserys. Perhaps it's all of the above? Why can't it be all of them? Whatever you think it is, he got Otto fired. Whether that was intentional or not, Otto still got fired. No way Viserys is going to choose Otto over Rhaenyra even if he believes in what Otto said more. Perception matters. Not truth. If Rhaenyra goes down, her father goes down. So Otto became the fall guy whether Daemon broke Rhaenyra's virginity or not and whether Otto was just doing his job. Again, what Daemon proved was third-party accounts aren't reliable especially if they're biased and working for certain people. For all we know, Daemon saying "heir for a day" was taken out of context. We actually never heard him say that in the show. I don't really buy the idea that Daemon tried seducing Rhaenyra to get back at Viserys. The sweetest moment we've seen was Viserys and Daemon share a hug. If Daemon was doing this out of spite towards his brother, then why make a big deal he returned? Why not sneak back to KL and do this? He came back wanting this to be a celebration. This ruins their brotherly love moment. I know the show runners are saying this but I believe Daemon wanted to get back at Otto. If it was Viserys he was trying to get back at, then maybe the reason he went limp was because he got back with his brother on good terms and didn't realize how great it felt hugging him and being in good graces? He realized he cares too much for Viserys and Rhaenyra and didn't really want to spite Viserys once he felt that guilt.
Good insights. I also believe it was a mix of all of the above; Daemon is known to have both the intense Targaryen emotional and impulsive side as well as a capacity for being really cunning. I definitely believe he knew about Mysaria's spy network, he generally tends to know more than he lets on.
Did Madison just say that Rhaenyra was being honest and truthful with Alicent during that scene where Alicent confronted her??? Rhaenyra was lying through her teeth the whole time, feigning ignorance the whole time. Rhaenyra is pathological.
Metaphor the kings hand is rotting and the infections are killing his body just like his and (Otto) is killing his legacy his path way back to mending his rhaenyras relationship as well as his reign. Both his body and Lineage are being corrupted by his hand and hand as well as other unneeded cuts such as on his back and cuts towards his him with Daemons as well as rhaenyras actions.

Otto telling 'the truth'(a half-truth in reality) is not the point, he overplayed his hand. He is so eager to have Rhaenyra removed from the line of succession that he told Viserys of his daughter's exploits when the smart thing to do would have been to keep it to himself. He'd only know such intimate details if he were already spying intensely on the princess, if you were a king and you found out one of your top advisers was spying on your heir that intensely you would also be suspicious of them, especially in the time period this fantasy universe is inspired by. Otto didn't tell Viserys this from a genuine place, he told him from a place of self-interest, one can tell the truth for personal gain just as much as they can lie for it as well.
Otto was not spying on Rhaenyra in the sense of targeting her. He had no way of knowing about Daemon sneaking her out of the castle incognito, so it was just chance and Otto trying to know about everything going on in Kingslanding that brought him the information about Daemon and Rhaenyra.
I woud like to offer a bit of info on Viserys' dagger. It isn't actually named Catspaw, it's a misconception that comes from it being nicknamed the catspaw dagger because it was wielded by the catspaw sent to kill Bran the first book/season one of GoT.

*Daemon's* *Revenge* *On* *Otto* *Over* *FAKE* *NEWS* People need to rewatch the scene when Daemon takes Rhaenyra to the public street orgies. It was planned by Daemon to get caught. You can see a brief scene with Daemon thinking by himself with his hoodie off. The next scene with him since the scenes are intercut with Alicent, Daemon takes off the beanie that Rhaenyra is wearing. This location is probably close to where Mysaria (White Worm) works or used to work. Then you see Daemon walk away from the sex with Rhaenyra. Then Rhaenyra walks out. A little kid is sitting there who works for Mysaria. How would the kid know Daemon and Rhaenyra had sex? He didn't see it. He sat near the stairs and recognized Rhaenyra walking out and then follows her. Then we see a scene between Daemon and Mysaria and Daemon spills out the drink immediately that Mysaria gives him. He probably assumes it's poison or unsafe since he is aware Mysaria is pissed at him. We see the same kid give Mysaria money that's likely from Otto. Daemon is slick. This was all planned to get Otto fired. This was revenge from Ep 1's "heir for a day" that got Daemon banished from King's Landing for 4 years. It's like a magic trick. The incest scene was our misdirection when what Daemon was really doing was wanting to get caught so Otto would get fired which he did. Viserys does listen to Rhaenyra and the rumor came from Otto's own mouth. So Rhaenyra points out about Otto's self-interests. Nobody witnessed Daemon and Rhaenyra having sex because it never happened! By firing Otto, he's trying to protect his and his daughter's public perception and showing that Otto is an unreliable source who is trying to slander their family. Blood is still thicker than water here. It's not like Viserys can fire his daughter. "The truth does not matter. Only perception." Even if Viserys believed Otto more, he'll support his daughter more. If Rhaenyra looks bad, then Viserys will look bad. Daemon didn't deny the accusations because he figured Viserys wouldn't believe him any way. And Daemon really doesn't care how others think of him and perhaps he really does want to marry her since the assumptions are that he did deflower her? Who would take her except him, the first man she "slept" with? But Rhaenyra did deny it and she wasn't lying either. Alicent ends up believing her and told Viserys. Alicent overheard her father and is only trying to cover Rhaenyra's *ss. She's against incest being part of The Faith. Viserys ends up firing Otto for lies which they are. Daemon and Rhaenyra did NOT have sex. Rhaenyra did have sex that night but it wasn't with her uncle. That's not what she was accused for. Otto got fired for his FAKE NEWS. The kid's false eyewitness claims got him fired. Otto needs to hire more accurate reporters. Not some kid "assuming" they did something that never happened while sitting near some stairs. I bet Mysaria got jealous hearing about it. Hence, the drink she was making to "cut the fog", Daemon made sure to spill it out. That used to be her MAN: "Daemon Targaryen. Rider of Caraxes. Daemon vs. Otto's Chess Matches Ep 1: Otto wins Ep 4: Daemon wins Score: 1-1 _ I think it's a good episode showing Daemon's weaker side. Ep 3 showed his bad*ss side. This is his vulnerable side. We can't expect Daemon to be bad*ss every episode. Like he's walking around and killing people left and right. He has layers to him. He's a human being. He has different sides to his character. This was Daemon's simp episode. He's a simp to his niece and he went limp to her as well. I think it's ok to show this side because Matt Smith has said Daemon is a fragile creature. There's this weird sensitivity about him and Matt wants to explore this. Not just show a bad boy who is also a great warrior. Not some dumb brute. If all it showed was Daemon being a bad*ss, then he's basically one-dimensional. The Hound is physically bigger than Daemon but he still showed a sensitive side to him. The more I rewatch this, the more I find this brilliant. We finally see Viserys showing his power and fearlessness. If Daemon wasn't hungover and if this was a different person like a non-relative, Daemon would fight back. This time, he doesn't. The tables are turned. It's Viserys showing his power and why he's the king while Daemon is on the ground completely helpless. Viserys, Daemon, and Rhaenyra all showed different sides to them here. Viserys showed more power. Controlled the room in every scene talking with Daemon, Rhaenyra, and Otto alone. Daemon showed vulnerability which is compassion to his family. Rhaenyra showed her wild side and pursuit for liberation as a female. Even saw growth from Alicent and Criston. These aren't cardboard cutouts. All made mistakes. All with different layers to their personalities. All this while Daemon still got Otto fired by finally playing the same game he played on him in Ep 1 by proving *third-party* *witnesses* *aren't* *always* *reliable.* _ *Is* *Daemon* *the* *Johnny* *Lawrence* *of* *HOT* *D?* I'm thinking he kinda is. I said kinda. They both can act like dicks full of insults and still be the most entertaining characters in their respective shows. Scene stealers. But with Johnny, he doesn't do enough evil stuff to make viewers hate him. Cobra Kai doesn't kill characters. Maybe flashbacks of Kreese in Vietnam, but that's it. Johnny is extremely flawed. Says the most inappropriate things to people. Un-PC. Stuck in the 1980s. Technologically inept. But he's still easily the most entertaining character in Cobra Kai since the very first episode. And you can see him trying to get better. I wouldn't watch the show if Johnny Lawrence wasn't so likeable. With Daemon, he's going to do things that will make you question your fandom towards him. You still haven't seen the worst of him. It's going to get much worse. But remember, it is war and characters are pushed to kill. By Sunday, he's going to sin again. At the same time, you still haven't seen the best of Daemon either. This is how some fans might feel about Daemon after each episode... Fans: I love Daemon! Fans: I hate Daemon! Fans: I love Daemon again! Fans: I hate Daemon again! Fans: Ok, I love and hate Daemon! This is basically how he's written. I'm already seeing it in the comments. "Daemon was my favorite character. After this episode, he no longer is. LOL.” In one episode, you think what a despicable POS he is. How he could do such an awful thing? In the next episode, you'll be chanting his name, calling him such a bad*ss, and wanting to buy merchandise of him proclaiming he's your favorite character again. Love. Hate. Love. Hate. Love AND Hate. It seems Daemon's greatest weakness so far is anything to do with his niece and older brother. He would slay anybody else but he would balk if Rhaenyra shows up at Dragonstone or he would let his older brother kick him on the ground with a dagger held against his neck. And this might surprise some fans because Daemon can be so arrogant and fearless, but he does view himself as an underdog. He's a younger brother like a Prince Harry and Michael Jordan. Everything to him can be personal even from the pettiest slights. He's a walking contradiction. I never read Fire & Blood although I should since it's on my phone. I do know how it ends for all the major characters. All I can say is wait for The Battle Above The Gods Eye. Just keep watching and stop judging them after every episode. Too early. We haven't got to the good stuff yet. I promise you at the end of this series, you will once again say Daemon is your favorite character. What he does at the end is so BAD*SS!!! He will remind us all that he's the G.O.A.T. of ASOIAF like Michael Jordan 🐐 hitting that last shot in Utah back in 1998. The greatest final moments for a character you will ever see.
More good insights, but a bit too much spoiling. Even if you're not saying things outright, it's easy to deduce many things from what you're writing for people who don't want to get spoiled. I personally don't mind, I know the entire story from start to finish already, I'm just here to see it executed on TV, but I'd try to be a bit more considerate. When you start mentioning specific battles in the future you're going too far.
I think the tea is the biggest get back from Otto. Hightowers n the maesters are very close, if you don’t thrust your hand the maester is the next best thing. If your maester is more obetiant to you hand…. Perception is the way of lords n people until there’s truth shown. Whatever happens I think this causes the a big rift it this story.

The director said that this was Daemon's plan all along. Destroy Rhaenyra's reputation so that no Lord would marry her and she would have to marry Daemon, then HE would eventually get control of the throne. Plus he wanted to embarrass and humiliate his brother. Also, from what the show runner and the director said, Daemon did not "defile" Rhaenyra because he has erectile dysfunction; he's impotent. Remember episode 1? That's why he stopped and left her there.

Okay its clear that both have feelings for each other first off back in episode 1 the women that Daemon was with when he was having sexual problems asked him if he wanted her to get the blonde girl to help him out she even seen it. I think Daemon has always been drawn to his niece but his brother would never allow it. Then he gave her a necklace now she has worn that necklace ever since she even wore it while going to find a suitor yet she told Daemon she never wants to marry perhaps its because she fancy him. You recall when his dragon hit her boat she hit her head looked up seen his dragon she knew it was Daemon she hasn't seen him in a year a smile came to her face. In the kings room she was looking everywhere for Daemon he enter she looked right to him and clapped then told him congrats for his victory. Rhaenyra told Daemon she was being sold off and didn't want it so he gave her an out made her get seen was hoping to wed her but his brother wouldn't have it he knows where his heart belongs he love Rhaenyra its there family way to be honest Rhaenyra actions show her feelings as well she wanted her uncle she has for a long time its why she didn't want to marry she has a crush on Daemon. You notice she was pissed at him slept with Cole took off his necklace then agreed to her father plans not knowing her uncle asked for her hand wonder what she would of said if her father told her what Daemon offered I bet YES father I love him I rather be with him then someone I don't love we get that part. Its clear to me from day one Daemon has issues with other women he is thinking of his niece she is thinking of him its there family way and its the GOT. In Game of Thrones we saw incest between Cersei and Jaimes and this is very wrong and not because they are brothers because in the Targaryen family there is a lot of this and it is normal in the family for example Daemon's countries and Viserys they are brothers and they are tired and Viserys is married to his cousin who is a mother and Rhaenyra so incest is super normal but Cersei is Jaimes there yes and wrong Because they are not Targaryen if it was Targaryen then it's ok they can be together but they are not Targaryen that's why na series they hide it because they know it's wrong What are they doing that is incest they can't, but if they were Targaryen then no one is bothered by them but they are not Targaryen so they can't have any relationship it's only Targaryen that can do incest because it is the Targaryen family custom to do incest The Daemon likes Rhaenyra the daemon wanted to show things to Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra doesn't know anything outside the kingdom the daemon's plan I believe the daemon wanted people to see them together and that they say the princess entered a brothel with her uncle so much so the daemon took off rhaenyra's hood and hat before entering the brothel but the daemon gives up and leaves what a shame because he left her alone and rhaenyra and christian's relationship was also wrong because christian he is a knight and he soiled his white tunic, remembering that Christian is older than Daemon, so age doesn't matter in this universe, just as incest doesn't matter because it's normal in the Targaryen family. I'm already used to it because I read George Martin's books and the stories he tells about the Targaryen family all contain incest. Incest is the most normal thing in this universe I didn't like the way Alicent spoke to Rhaenyra if she wants help friend no and just like you approach a friend Alicent is jealous of her Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra slept with whoever she wanted, she doesn't have to sleep with an old man, you'll understand yet but later Alicent is jealous of Rhaenyra's life in the book shows more See the difference in the scenes when the daemon talks to Rhaenyra, talking even though she is married, he can feel pleasure with whoever she wants in the scene with Alicent and viserys Alicent is not feeling pleasure in the scene with Rhaenyra and Daemon Rhaenyra is feeling pleasure even if it was the kiss but she likes it more after she sleeps with Christian and she feels pleasure and you can see In the throne scene, when the daemon says that Viserys can do whatever he wants, because he is the king, he rules over him and the law, he is a Targaryen, this is true, as it is also true when Viserys tells Alicent that the daemon and Rhaenyra are dragons they are restless this is also true

She's been turning down every proposal, wearing Daemon's necklace and even touching it while listening to proposals then she talks about marriage, children and Daemon's wife. I didn't think they were being particularly subtle with who Rhaenyra's mind was on.

It's been REALLY obvious that Rhaenyra is into Daemon, especially earlier in this episode, so I'm not sure how anyone can miss all those signs. It's been less obvious how Daemon feels because while he has treated her differently, one could interpret that as him having ulterior motives or special feelings but not romantically. However the brothel scene and his drunken confrontation with the king afterwards convinced me that he loves her too and had perhaps just come to the full realization of it.
Daemon planned for them to be caught together but his conscience kicked in so he felt guilty about using her and couldn't physically go through with it. That's why he stormed out from the brothel and drank a lot. When confronted by Viserys, he decided to shoot his shot and asked for her hand.
Rhaenyra basically used Ser Criston to relieve her desire and frustration after being rejected by Daemon, the producers said he was the one available. Milly Alcock said Rhaenyra likes Criston but she would not choose him over Daemon.
29:18 Targaryen genes aren't necessarily always STRONG. In the book, Princess Rhaenys (the queen who never was) actually has a black hair, because her mother is baratheon, but she still have purple eyes like most of targaryens. Only when she's in her 50s she got silver streak in her hair. Not because of her targaryen gene but most likely because of she's getting older. There are actually few more examples when Targaryen's silver hair traits doesn't get passed down, especially when they're not practicing incest lol. This is actually very big topic that will show up in the story. You'll see.

How could anyone think that Daemon loved Rhaenyra as a father? Their scenes are full of high tension, and they always speak in Valyrian which tells you about the complicity they have.
I really think he loves Rhaenyra, but he also has ambition for the throne. It could be both, having feelings for his niece but using her for power. I think that's why he stopped, because he didn't see himself able to sully her at all. I don't know, for me it's pretty obvious that they will end up together, they are too similar, and the only people who feel comfortable being themselves.

in fact , Daemon has pretty thought through everything in this episode . Rhaenyra is the wife he likes, she loves him, they have power together if married. He made sure that they were noticed, he knew that Otto would find out about it and tell the king, he thought that because her reputation was a little damaged, Viserys would marry her off, but it didn't work out a little. He couldn't get it up and he felt guilty about what he was doing because he actually cares about her and, last minute, didn't want to be using her, to get her hand in marriage, in the way that he was. He knew rumours would spread because he purposely took her hat off when they got into the brothel.
Daemon loves his family (he said that only he could speak ill of his brother), Rhaenyra was scared that it would happen to her like her mother, that they impregnated her until she died, and Daemon taught her that in addition to duty there is also pleasure, in addition to showing her how people is and what the they think of her.

When his and Visrerys' own parents were brother and sister? That man doesn't care at all that he and Rhaenrya are related. He probably deeply relishes that they are, since that is their way, and has been since the days the Targayens were still living in Old Valyria. What stopped Daemon was guilt about using her in such a way, not the incest.
The director of this episode said that Daemon couldn't do it with Rhaenyra cause he felt guilty in that situation... Daemon became impotent (second time in four episodes) because Rhaenyra became the sexual aggressor. That's why he got pissed and left. It was discussed during the 'Inside the Episode' segment.
And Daemon (or Rhaenyra) didn't get grossed out at all. He wanted to have sex with her so she would become 'sullied' in the eyes of the realm and he could then pitch Viserys on wedding her to him because no other Lord would have her. And it was also a way of getting back at Viserys, proving the overt deference he had for his brother at the beginning of the episode did indeed have ulterior motives underneath.

You can read the books to find out more about the Blackwoods. They are a very interesting house. The Blackwoods were once Northerners but after Aegon's conquest they moved to the Riverlands (for reasons I won't tell). As they were originally from the North, the blood of the first Men flows in their veins. Lord Brynden Rivers (Bloodraven - the guy who taught Bran Stark) is a half Blackwood (his mother was Melissa Blackwood).

Daemon is a bad boy and for Targaryens its not repulsive to keep it in the family. He openly ignores the king's commands, he's a warrior and fellow dragon rider, and they get along fairly well.
I think this was all Daemon's plan, hes playing 4D Chess. He put Rhaenyra in a position to get Otto fired. I think Daemon is just using Rhaenyra, praying on her moods. Gets her in the mood to have sex and then he just leaves. So then Rhaenyra is left still wanting to get laid and makes her way to Criston. Also don't forget Daemon deliberatly let Rhaenyra's hair down because he knew Otto has spies everywhere. Daemon's a freaking genius :D
I don't think Daemon was grossed out at all. There's a different issue that we also saw in episode one. I love how many different theories there are though. Everyone thinks it's something different.
I think if Daemon knew Otto's little birds were watching, it was a big gamble for him knowing his brother banished him again after how many days? Daemon found a way to get in trouble after 4 years being gone and it only took a day, perhaps? 🤣 But he did get Otto fired by letting the crowd see who they were.
A commenter said Daemon tried to frame Rhaenyra so he can marry her knowing since she's already deflowered, no man would take her. Perhaps. Another is he got limp again (show runners said this) but also because he was feeling guilty. He cares about Rhaenyra and doesn't want to use her as a pawn. The other being Daemon wanted to get back at Viserys.
Perhaps it's all of the above? Why can't it be all of them? Whatever you think it is, he got Otto fired. Whether that was intentional or not, Otto still got fired. No way Viserys is going to choose Otto over Rhaenyra even if he believes in what Otto said more. Perception matters. Not truth. If Rhaenyra goes down, her father goes down.
So Otto became the fall guy whether Daemon broke Rhaenyra's virginity or not and whether Otto was just doing his job. Again, what Daemon proved was third-party accounts aren't reliable especially if they're biased and working for certain people. For all we know, Daemon saying "heir for a day" was taken out of context. We actually never heard him say that in the show.
I don't really buy the idea that Daemon tried seducing Rhaenyra to get back at Viserys. The sweetest moment we've seen was Viserys and Daemon share a hug. If Daemon was doing this out of spite towards his brother, then why make a big deal he returned? Why not sneak back to KL and do this? He came back wanting this to be a celebration. This ruins their brotherly love moment.
I know the show runners are saying this but I believe Daemon wanted to get back at Otto. If it was Viserys he was trying to get back at, then maybe the reason he went limp was because he got back with his brother on good terms and didn't realize how great it felt hugging him and being in good graces? He realized he cares too much for Viserys and Rhaenyra and didn't really want to spite Viserys once he felt that guilt.
Good insights. I also believe it was a mix of all of the above; Daemon is known to have both the intense Targaryen emotional and impulsive side as well as a capacity for being really cunning. I definitely believe he knew about Mysaria's spy network, he generally tends to know more than he lets on.

Otto telling 'the truth'(a half-truth in reality) is not the point, he overplayed his hand. He is so eager to have Rhaenyra removed from the line of succession that he told Viserys of his daughter's exploits when the smart thing to do would have been to keep it to himself. He'd only know such intimate details if he were already spying intensely on the princess, if you were a king and you found out one of your top advisers was spying on your heir that intensely you would also be suspicious of them, especially in the time period this fantasy universe is inspired by.
Otto didn't tell Viserys this from a genuine place, he told him from a place of self-interest, one can tell the truth for personal gain just as much as they can lie for it as well.
Otto was not spying on Rhaenyra in the sense of targeting her. He had no way of knowing about Daemon sneaking her out of the castle incognito, so it was just chance and Otto trying to know about everything going on in Kingslanding that brought him the information about Daemon and Rhaenyra.
He definitely was spying on Daemon, which he knew and played it so there would be scandal.

People need to rewatch the scene when Daemon takes Rhaenyra to the public street orgies. It was planned by Daemon to get caught. You can see a brief scene with Daemon thinking by himself with his hoodie off.
The next scene with him since the scenes are intercut with Alicent, Daemon takes off the beanie that Rhaenyra is wearing. This location is probably close to where Mysaria (White Worm) works or used to work. Then you see Daemon walk away from the sex with Rhaenyra. Then Rhaenyra walks out. A little kid is sitting there who works for Mysaria.
How would the kid know Daemon and Rhaenyra had sex? He didn't see it. He sat near the stairs and recognized Rhaenyra walking out and then follows her. Then we see a scene between Daemon and Mysaria and Daemon spills out the drink immediately that Mysaria gives him. He probably assumes it's poison or unsafe since he is aware Mysaria is pissed at him. We see the same kid give Mysaria money that's likely from Otto.
Daemon is slick. This was all planned to get Otto fired. This was revenge from Ep 1's "heir for a day" that got Daemon banished from King's Landing for 4 years. It's like a magic trick. The incest scene was our misdirection when what Daemon was really doing was wanting to get caught so Otto would get fired which he did. Viserys does listen to Rhaenyra and the rumor came from Otto's own mouth. So Rhaenyra points out about Otto's self-interests.
Nobody witnessed Daemon and Rhaenyra having sex because it never happened! By firing Otto, he's trying to protect his and his daughter's public perception and showing that Otto is an unreliable source who is trying to slander their family. Blood is still thicker than water here. It's not like Viserys can fire his daughter. "The truth does not matter. Only perception." Even if Viserys believed Otto more, he'll support his daughter more. If Rhaenyra looks bad, then Viserys will look bad.
Daemon didn't deny the accusations because he figured Viserys wouldn't believe him any way. And Daemon really doesn't care how others think of him and perhaps he really does want to marry her since the assumptions are that he did deflower her? Who would take her except him, the first man she "slept" with? But Rhaenyra did deny it and she wasn't lying either. Alicent ends up believing her and told Viserys. Alicent overheard her father and is only trying to cover Rhaenyra's *ss. She's against incest being part of The Faith.
Viserys ends up firing Otto for lies which they are. Daemon and Rhaenyra did NOT have sex. Rhaenyra did have sex that night but it wasn't with her uncle. That's not what she was accused for. Otto got fired for his FAKE NEWS. The kid's false eyewitness claims got him fired. Otto needs to hire more accurate reporters. Not some kid "assuming" they did something that never happened while sitting near some stairs.
I bet Mysaria got jealous hearing about it. Hence, the drink she was making to "cut the fog", Daemon made sure to spill it out. That used to be her MAN: "Daemon Targaryen. Rider of Caraxes. Wielder of Dark Sister." She misses his red wyrm that used to burn inside her before it went limp.

I think it's a good episode showing Daemon's weaker side. Ep 3 showed his bad*ss side. This is his vulnerable side. We can't expect Daemon to be bad*ss every episode. Like he's walking around and killing people left and right. He has layers to him. He's a human being. He has different sides to his character.
This was Daemon's simp episode. He's a simp to his niece and he went limp to her as well. I think it's ok to show this side because Matt Smith has said Daemon is a fragile creature. There's this weird sensitivity about him and Matt wants to explore this. Not just show a bad boy who is also a great warrior. Not some dumb brute. If all it showed was Daemon being a bad*ss, then he's basically one-dimensional.
The Hound is physically bigger than Daemon but he still showed a sensitive side to him. The more I rewatch this, the more I find this brilliant. We finally see Viserys showing his power and fearlessness. If Daemon wasn't hungover and if this was a different person like a non-relative, Daemon would fight back. This time, he doesn't. The tables are turned. It's Viserys showing his power and why he's the king while Daemon is on the ground completely helpless.
Viserys, Daemon, and Rhaenyra all showed different sides to them here. Viserys showed more power. Controlled the room in every scene talking with Daemon, Rhaenyra, and Otto alone. Daemon showed vulnerability which is compassion to his family. Rhaenyra showed her wild side and pursuit for liberation as a female. Even saw growth from Alicent and Criston. These aren't cardboard cutouts. All made mistakes. All with different layers to their personalities.
All this while Daemon still got Otto fired by finally playing the same game he played on him in Ep 1 by proving *third-party* *witnesses* *aren't* *always* *reliable.*

I'm thinking he kinda is. I said kinda. They both can act like dicks full of insults and still be the most entertaining characters in their respective shows. Scene stealers. But with Johnny, he doesn't do enough evil stuff to make viewers hate him. Cobra Kai doesn't kill characters. Maybe flashbacks of Kreese in Vietnam, but that's it.
Johnny is extremely flawed. Says the most inappropriate things to people. Un-PC. Stuck in the 1980s. Technologically inept. But he's still easily the most entertaining character in Cobra Kai since the very first episode. And you can see him trying to get better. I wouldn't watch the show if Johnny Lawrence wasn't so likeable.
With Daemon, he's going to do things that will make you question your fandom towards him. You still haven't seen the worst of him. It's going to get much worse. But remember, it is war and characters are pushed to kill. By Sunday, he's going to sin again. At the same time, you still haven't seen the best of Daemon either.

This is basically how he's written. I'm already seeing it in the comments. "Daemon was my favorite character. After this episode, he no longer is. LOL.” In one episode, you think what a despicable POS he is. How he could do such an awful thing? In the next episode, you'll be chanting his name, calling him such a bad*ss, and wanting to buy merchandise of him proclaiming he's your favorite character again. Love. Hate. Love. Hate. Love AND Hate.
It seems Daemon's greatest weakness so far is anything to do with his niece and older brother. He would slay anybody else but he would balk if Rhaenyra shows up at Dragonstone or he would let his older brother kick him on the ground with a dagger held against his neck. And this might surprise some fans because Daemon can be so arrogant and fearless, but he does view himself as an underdog. He's a younger brother like a Prince Harry and Michael Jordan. Everything to him can be personal even from the pettiest slights. He's a walking contradiction.
I never read Fire & Blood although I should since it's on my phone. I do know how it ends for all the major characters. All I can say is wait for The Battle Above The Gods Eye. Just keep watching and stop judging them after every episode. Too early. We haven't got to the good stuff yet. I promise you at the end of this series, you will once again say Daemon is your favorite character. What he does at the end is so BAD*SS!!! He will remind us all that he's the G.O.A.T. of ASOIAF like Michael Jordan 🐐 hitting that last shot in Utah back in 1998.

The director said that this was Daemon's plan all along. Destroy Rhaenyra's reputation so that no Lord would marry her and she would have to marry Daemon, then HE would eventually get control of the throne. Plus he wanted to embarrass and humiliate his brother. Also, from what the show runner and the director said, Daemon did not "defile" Rhaenyra because he has erectile dysfunction; he's impotent. Remember episode 1? That's why he stopped and left her there.

Okay its clear that both have feelings for each other first off back in episode 1 the women that Daemon was with when he was having sexual problems asked him if he wanted her to get the blonde girl to help him out she even seen it. I think Daemon has always been drawn to his niece but his brother would never allow it. Then he gave her a necklace now she has worn that necklace ever since she even wore it while going to find a suitor yet she told Daemon she never wants to marry perhaps its because she fancy him. You recall when his dragon hit her boat she hit her head looked up seen his dragon she knew it was Daemon she hasn't seen him in a year a smile came to her face. In the kings room she was looking everywhere for Daemon he enter she looked right to him and clapped then told him congrats for his victory. Rhaenyra told Daemon she was being sold off and didn't want it so he gave her an out made her get seen was hoping to wed her but his brother wouldn't have it he knows where his heart belongs he love Rhaenyra its there family way to be honest Rhaenyra actions show her feelings as well she wanted her uncle she has for a long time its why she didn't want to marry she has a crush on Daemon. You notice she was pissed at him slept with Cole took off his necklace then agreed to her father plans not knowing her uncle asked for her hand wonder what she would of said if her father told her what Daemon offered I bet YES father I love him I rather be with him then someone I don't love we get that part. Its clear to me from day one Daemon has issues with other women he is thinking of his niece she is thinking of him its there family way and its the GOT. They will end up together one day mark it down o the other thing Daemon is smart not only did he want Rhaenyra he knew this would get the hand fired because he knew he would pass the info from the worm women. Its clear Daemon was trying to help his niece but also remove Otto he knew what both of them would do because its GOT!

In Game of Thrones we saw incest between Cersei and Jaimes and this is very wrong and not because they are brothers because in the Targaryen family there is a lot of this and it is normal in the family for example Daemon's countries and Viserys they are brothers and they are tired and Viserys is married to his cousin who is a mother and Rhaenyra so incest is super normal but Cersei is Jaimes there yes and wrong Because they are not Targaryen if it was Targaryen then it's ok they can be together but they are not Targaryen that's why na series they hide it because they know it's wrong What are they doing that is incest they can't, but if they were Targaryen then no one is bothered by them but they are not Targaryen so they can't have any relationship it's only Targaryen that can do incest because it is the Targaryen family custom to do incest
The Daemon likes Rhaenyra the daemon wanted to show things to Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra doesn't know anything outside the kingdom the daemon's plan I believe the daemon wanted people to see them together and that they say the princess entered a brothel with her uncle so much so the daemon took off rhaenyra's hood and hat before entering the brothel but the daemon gives up and leaves what a shame because he left her alone and rhaenyra and christian's relationship was also wrong because christian he is a knight and he soiled his white tunic, remembering that Christian is older than Daemon, so age doesn't matter in this universe, just as incest doesn't matter because it's normal in the Targaryen family. I'm already used to it because I read George Martin's books and the stories he tells about the Targaryen family all contain incest. Incest is the most normal thing in this universe
