  • Hey, guys! How are you doing? It’s been a while since I’ve done a video giving tips on public speaking! So here’s one for you.
Someone messaged me recently asking why they still feel like they came up short even if they keep memorizing what they need to say. Memorizing your speech or answers is not the best strategy simply because there are other things you need to consider in the moment to make your delivery more impactful. In this video, learn about how you can ‘practice’ spontaneity and how you can move your audience by speaking from your heart.

Hello, everyone! I hope you find this video helpful in identifying the more technical aspects of speaking with spontaneity 🤗 also, excuse my lisp, I underwent a bit of dental restoration (which I’ll reveal in my vlog soon too!)

    •Practice Spontaneity
•Nothing beats practicing with a camera.
•Try 'familiarizing' rather than 'memorizing' when you practice.
    •Don't just practice pronouncing words.
•Be in the moment, not in your head.
•Remember you're saying yes to learning, not to failing.
•Get in touch with your emotions.

Thank You ate Nicole for the Tips!
I can surely use these whenever I speak in front of a class. As an education student, I get to speak in front so many times and I've done so many Speech related extravaganzas . But after I speak, I always feel frustrated and unsatisfied cause I feel like I did not improved even though I already knew my weak points and even though I kept learning on it for the next time. To the point na Parang maiiyak na ako, at palagi Kong sinasabi sa classmates ko na "okay lang ba Ang performance ko in front?"... Kasi I have this experience during my 2nd year in college, we were told to speak about a certain topic in front (about Inclusive education) and throughout the span of my performance hindi ko namalayan na nakatingin lang pala ako sa labas ng room, instead of sa audience...My gosh that was very traumatic!...😔😔😔🥴🥴🥴😭😭😭
My weakness Kasi is that I became so nervous if I am in front na even though I already mastered my topic and so "nanginginig" talaga ako always, in front. My weak point as well is my eye contact, as much as I would love to have eye contact to the people around me to be more connected to the audience, It feels like it's hard for me, cause napapangunahan ako ng thoughts ko na "Oh, baka Mali ako sa sinabi ko" "Baka, they wouldn't agree with my point" "Baka, pinagtatawanan na nila ako on their minds" etc.etc. And so, Jan na nagsisimulang ma.blank na Yung isip ko and I don't know what to say anymore. Even though sa mind ko palagi kong sinasabi na "CONFIDENCE".
Feel ko talaga sa writing ako mas comfortable. But I also need to relearn how to speak in front cause it's a demand when it comes to my course. 😔😌
Ano Po bang tips mo when it comes to these things for me to turn these weaknesses to strengths and on how to connect more to your audience ate Nicole?
By the way, kayo talaga inspiration ko ni ate Cat whenever I speak. Palagi Kong rine.recap Yung mga tips nyo. You two are my CONFIDENCE Po ❤️... ✨🙏

Thank you for this! As always, you're giving us helpful content. I really hope I can overcome spacing out and shivering in front of an audience.
Di naman ako mahiyain. In fact, I'm proud of how improved I've become from being shy bec. of being closeted to being unafraid of giving opinions and answers in class pero I still can't get to stop myself from shaking once I realize people are intent on listening to me. It must have something to do with the traumatic experience I had in elementary when a teacher scolded me for bringing an "ugly Xmas lantern" in class. She made me stand up then scolded me in front of everybody and threw the lantern on my face. I was a shy kid. I was an honor student. I can't somehow get over it. Will I ever? 😞

JuanEspiritu Santo YES YOU CAN! I’m so sorry to hear about what happened, nobody deserves to go through that. All the more reason for you to grab more chances to do public speaking, especially with topics you’re really passionate about, to create better memories onstage 🤗

Jumping off on Nicole's point on seizing opportunities to practice public speaking, you may consider sitting in a Toastmasters Club meeting. Specifically, you may sit in at Alabang Community Toastmasters. We meet regularly to improve our public speaking and communication skills. Our primary goal is to help each other become better speakers and leaders. Our club tries to make each meeting productive, interesting, and fun. We also strive to maintain a friendly, nurturing, and supportive environment.
If your goals are aligned with ours, you may join our next online meeting on August 29, 2020, at 2:00 PM PH time (6AM GMT) via Zoom. For more info about our club, you may check out facebook.com/alabangcommunitytmc/ or email us at alabangcommunitytmc@gmail.com

Hi Queen Nicole, I'll be having a face to face interview next week. This video helps me a lot since I have a tendency to be nervous whenever I speak to someone else. You reminded me to speak from the heart. You are one of my idols in terms of communication skills.
