    Baxter Gold, born on July 12, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a trailblazing funk singer-songwriter whose electrifying performances and insightful lyrics captivated audiences from the 1970s through the 1990s. Infused with the vibrant rhythms of his hometown, Baxter rose to prominence in the funk scene with his debut album, "The Wonderful Wizard of Funk” (1974), His eclectic sound blended elements of funk, R&B, and jazz, earning him critical acclaim and a devoted fan base. Over the years, Baxter released several successful albums, including "Gold Standard" (1981) which included the hit single “Planet of Love”, and "Funkadelic Dreams" (1989), each showcasing his distinctive voice and innovative musical style. Gold was also known for his energetic live performances, collaborations with disco and funk superstar Lee Daniels, and funk covers of the rock band KISS. Though he stepped back from the limelight in the late '90s, Baxter's influence continues to resonate throughout the music industry, inspiring a new generation of artists and ensuring his place in the history of funk music.
