Who'd have thought flowing grouped objects would lead to such a large discrepancy?!? Been struggling with my ignorance of this fact - thank you so much for showing me where I was going wrong!
PJ, you are the most helpful CAD designer on the WHOLE internet, I am running MG 5.1 with inbuilt Rhino but never as helpful as your input , thankyou so much :)
Thank you PJ for another great lesson! This video is keeps it simple and to the point. Your teaching skills and knowledge of the subject are so admirable.
Such a thorough presentation! you have covered all possible options. As always you are so enthusiastic to communicate and share your knowledge. Much appreciate every single video!
Hello PJ! You are simply the best! Many thanks for everything you do. Your English is perfect, the rhythm of the explanations is perfect, the methodology is perfect!
so many thanks for your comprehensive teaching skills. i have learned much in my short time and am very happy to purchase training materials from you and wil be seeing more of your videos for a long time. thank you again ,Sam Barnett
Thanks a lot for you video! Really helpful but I was searching for a tip that I didn’t find here, how can we keep the original design with no gap between the different parts if we do rigid yes? Is the only way posssible by record history and move them one by one? Seems to be a lot of work to do there should be something smarter to do
Great video! This might be a bit old but what would I need to do if I want to flow along curve a single surface body around a circle ? I applied the same as shown in the video but the result always stays open no matter the dimensions of my surface. Is there any way to close it?
A very indepth lesson, great stuff. But i keep wondering why we always need that plane underneath the honeycomb and select them both before you can flow along curve or surface? I am new to Rhino and see this as a on odd thing.
@@PJChenJewelryDesign Thanks for the answer. That way I couldn't do it. The closest I got to the expected result was extruding the spiral and using the Squish command. After applying the desired shape over the 2D pattern, I bring it back to the spiral. Then I used the Split command. I'm trying to model a violin scroll and I'm running into some difficulties. Thanks anyway.
thank you veyr much PJ, i do have another question in mind, so from now on we use the curve from created from a flat surface or can we also use the curve from the two side surface? it gives a funny surface though

does the initial polysurface have to be made of multiple components across the plane?
Excellent. A very comprehensive and clear explanation.
Glad you think so!
Sooo incredibly helpful! I've been struggling with this on a project that involves a "blanket" of milgrain-- really useful!
Glad it was helpful!

flow work well for patterns. If you want a single surface wrap around a circle, I would recommand sweep command
Hi PJ I was wondering what all the buttons have you are? They are not standard ones found in rhino and I’m wondering what plug in you use
I do have some plug in found in Food4Rhino.com
Thank you for the great tutorial! How can we use flow along surface for a cube or rectangular curves?
You can. it may deform the shape but you can click rigid option to keep it not deformed.
Good Afternoon Mr PJ
Hello!!
A very indepth lesson, great stuff. But i keep wondering why we always need that plane underneath the honeycomb and select them both before you can flow along curve or surface? I am new to Rhino and see this as a on odd thing.
that is for the reference surface.
I like these videos where you compare similar commands.
that is great!! more to come!
Your video solved all my doubts 😀
Thanks 👍
Most welcome 😊
Why when I try to flow my object, my target surface brakes into multiple mini surfaces?
have you found an explanation or solution? i'm currently struggling with the same issue
Great tutorial! Is it possible to roll a flat surface to make scroll with this technique? I'm going to use a predefined spiral for this.
It may deform on the pattern depend on the size, but it is possible.

when i use floow along curv and get to target curv i have to chose two pionts in a straight line and dont get the curv i need, idk what im doin wrong
Very beautifully explained .
Thank you so much 🙂
should the design we need to flow (on a circle) need to be connected?
no, but better control if you have them connected.
@@PJChenJewelryDesign thankyou for the answer. I love your way of teaching. Do you have video of making a cylinder or box of slitted shapes?
thank you veyr much PJ, i do have another question in mind, so from now on we use the curve from created from a flat surface or can we also use the curve from the two side surface? it gives a funny surface though
it may be stretch too much if the surface you plan to flow is narrow
thanks for the tutorial but I have a question to ask why can't I close the bulla between the 2 solids?
What do you mean?
@@PJChenJewelryDesign I couldn't apply a decoration on a surface (boolean failed) ... then I looked at your tutorials and I succeeded ... thanks
Thank you.
You're welcome!
how do you flow along a subD??
Hello pj, when my flow along curve command is applied, the product turns upside down. What is the reason for this? Can you please help, thank you. :)
I want to reflect it outside of the environment, but it reflects itself into my environment in an opposite way, why?
it is the direction issue. just need to pick the other corner of your target surface
my problem when i put on my target the orientation of the pattern are different for what i what,(direction) what should i do..? thanks
pick other end or corners

Do you know why? Thank you.
are you with Rhino 7 or older version?
@@PJChenJewelryDesign no, i'm with Rhino 6.
