  • The Ruger BX-25 magazine for the Ruger 10/22 rifles is great. But, magazines get dirty with time and need to be cleaned. Here's how you can do it!

I just discovered this video. It's perfect! To the point, as clear a detailed explanation can be. Great job.

Thanks for putting this up... I've never had any problems with these or the Butler Creek version in my 10/22 or Chargers... Started having problems with one today in my Charger... It didn't seem to raise the cartridge up and the bolt wouldn't go forward... Just took it apart and back together and it seems to be working fine now... I had a friend last week who had just got a 10/22 from a pawn shop and it was extremely dirty... He was having problems with the aftermarket versions... I loaned him one of my Ruger versions and it worked well... I'm suspecting that some of the crap in his gun got down in the mag... Thanks again...

ive got a dozen of these and NEVER had any issues at all , i think they are one of the best engineereed magazines out there , not sayin all are perfect because i dont know , but in a 10-22 with these mags if you have issues its probably ammo related

@@tex7518 they jam so much unless you put tape on the back lip

Ammo-related problems? Nope, I tried damn near all the different ammo on the market. The problem is the magazine. And the jams really kick in once you start to rapid fire with them. It can’t handle rapid fire very well at all.

yokedmonster I tried that tape and it worked and then it went back to jamming again. The problem is internal and external!!

I've never had no problems with them. Only thing I've ever had an issue with was if I was shooting too fast and the casing doesn't pop all the way out of the gun.

So one of my 10/22 mags doesn't seem to be feeding right so I do a search on disassembly and who do I find??? Hello Matt! We meet and it's not even Sunday night. Good video. Clear, concise and closeup. Thanks. JimE

I bought a 2 pack of these mags. One of them works flawlessly. The other constantly jams. The actual front of the round doesn't raise high enough to feed out of the magazine. I've watched vids on how to disassemble and clean but haven't had any luck cycling 25 rounds without a jam.

Good video however the 25 magazine has a few mistakes and is not a marvel of engineering at all. First is Rugers general sloopy shaky loose tolerances. huge gaps easily of .050 for absolutely zero reason on every dimension. The sides shake back and forth about .010 too much on each side. On the reciever face--they made a disastrous mold making error. They put 3 degrees draft on the face with the large round pin that butts up against the reciever making it a pointed housetop which shakes back and forth like a teeter totter. The 10 stock that face is correctly flat. How could the engineers at ruger not only not catch the mistake--but keep the mold the way it is after it was discovered??? All they have to do is make one electrode and burn down in that area to make it a flat face. Zero draft on molds on some surfaces are quite common in many cases contrary to popular belief. Next comes the even dumber spring loaded pin that sloppily goes into the hex hole of the butt end and pushes against the flat front face in question--not only is the spring too weak but the pin itself is far too loose. youtube abounds with videos how to take out that pin and grind the face of the part so that it allows that pin to come further forward in sort of a "better than nothing fix". The ruger 10-22 is a starting point to rebuild it but many users report that they sometimes get it to feed correctly in rare cases. In most cases its a "fixer upper"--upon arriving home with it especially if the person is a machinist or into manufacturing with a feel for tolerances. Clearance must be there or you have a jammer plus there is slight variance in parts so you cannot make one gun to slip fit zero tolerance because they have to be interchangable. That being said their tolerances and mold making errors are an embarrasment to the mold making, machining and manufacturing community. I have one and am slowly getting it right------------ by rebuilding everything. First time buyers usually young should be forewarned it is not true its a perfect gun and americana--that the sloppiness and terrible working of it with different magazines and ammo is indicative and sloppy loose manufacturing and mold making mistakes. the end

your welcome I may actually call Ruger and explain to them that they only need to make a single electrode to burn down straight on that one wall of the mold. all free--siince im retired and dont mind mentoring.
