    Watching Altaïr’s moves in slow motion makes me understand just how great of a fighter he was

    Honestly, as much as people are biased against Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft will always have some of the best if not THE best combat choreography in the entire video game industry.

      +Cirlex Yea, they definitely had great mocap teams and choreographers

      Emphasis on had, Syndicate's choreography was a mess.
      Or maybe Assassin's Creed III and IV's double counter kills just gave me high standards in how well multikills should look. :V

      +Cirlex Yea I've seen some of syndicate's choreography and I wasn't impressed, especially compared to 3 and 4 like you said

      Either the animators got lazy or the new mocap guys weren't all that great at their martial arts. They had the basics down, but they just had no idea how to chain together proper looking multikills unlike III and IV's people.

    I like how each assassin has his own personality expressed in his style. AC2 looked like it recycled alot of animations from the first one but just by Ezio's stance and swagger and the new animations they actually had you could tell his approach was so different than Altair. Altair is kinda limited, but his style really hammers home him getting his fight done and getting away to me. Thats the feeling i got. Its always deflect, punch in the face, torso skewer, hard pull out. And then theres Connor. He really is just looking cool but not making sense but you cant hate it cause it just looks so damn cool. He flows through a battle like water streaming around rocks and hes still through it all telegraphing an anger that hes keeping under control. Ubisoft catches alot of criticism but their mocap and choreography are bar none. Its too bad that they couldnt keep doing that kind of fighting system cause it was aging and falling behind but theyll always hold a distinction of how awesome they were at the time.

      Yea for sure! The AC games always had superior mocap to most other games. I do like the progression the combat system took from 1 to 4. I haven't really played past 4, but I heard the combat in Unity is crap

      JoeyBslash 3 from a gameplay perspective, i liked Unity alot. It had a challenge to it. You had to really earn your victory and it felt like it had consequence. It didnt facilitate counter animations much. Syndicate brought the easy counters back but they werent great. Fight choreography is tricky cause you want the protagonist to do awesome stuff but you gotta make it so theyre not waiting for you and actually trying to defend themselves. Its hard to do and doesnt always work but the attention is away from it most of the time. It seemed like more than a couple times in syndicate i noticed an enemy giving me his arm, or stepping in and bending down so i could trip them better and stuff like that. Origins battle system is more like dark souls or zelda. It doesnt lend itself to many awesome looking finishers or quickly dispatching a bunch of enemies. The old system just hit a wall and couldnt develop anymore. It wasnt fun to play anymore. It always looked good but there wasnt any more challenge that could be added without being severely disorienting. Its too bad but i appreciate they actually try to remember its a game and not a movie. Maybe one of these days theyll have a eureaka moment and be able to bring it back in a new fun way, but im not holding my breath for it at this time.

      So far, it is 2nd to Black Flag for me. Black Flag was just loads of fun for me, as it took the best gameplay aspects of 3 and expanded on them. 3 was a huge jump graphically and changed up the gameplay quite a bit, but it still felt like an Assassin's Creed game. I liked the setting as well.

      JoeyBslash 3 oh absolutely. I spent so many hours on black flag just attacking ships, jumping on and killing the crew. That game was way too much fun tbh

    The AC1 counter attacks can be improvised for modern use, since people don't use swords for combat. Instead of a hack to the shoulder, smash the enemy in the head with a pipe for anything, because obviously, a thrust won't do shite but hurt his stomach.

      +do you see me? well, you can't cuz i can't see you for sure. In Filipino Martial Arts, the blade techniques can usually transfer to impact weapons for the most part. A thrust to the face with an impact weapon would be more effective than to the body...speaking from experience lol

    • @rockkid1412
      @rockkid1412 7 років тому +1

      Oh Lord, imagining how ugly it'd be if you thrust to the face. D:
      Anyways, you're vids actually opened my eyes for martial arts. Don't know what to start with but I'm thinking about either the two Korean martial arts.
