Naruto’s first mission was a great arc. His encounter with Haku and Zabuza was Naruto’s first real experience with the real shinibi world. The way he humanized Zabuza was surreal. It helped solidify his motivations moving forward
Haku (and Zabuza to an extent) is the reason naruto formed his ninja way, nailing talk no jutsu and effecting the lives of many, i like to tell myself this so i don't feel real sad about his death, truly a kind soul who went into the shinobi world because of love and thankfulness, he did not intend to kill Naruto and sauske during their fight (he could throw needles from many sides and could kill sauske when he started first made the ice mirrors if he wanted to in my opinion and instead threw them in places to incapacitate and have sauske temperately die.)
CJ Johnson Exactly can you actually believe people say Zabuza and Haku are not important to the story? Naruto remembers both of them in the literal last fight of the manga.
I totally agree...I was hooked on Naruto from watching this arc....Its making me tear up, because of all the hate and revenge that comes with being a shinobi, it did not once change Naruto. His will of fire is strong..x
Same here. It's what got me hooked to Naruto in the first place. This arc made me cry so much that I had to stop binge watching and continue the next day haha.
One scene that I find interesting is when Gato kick Haku, It’s zooms into Naruto’s face and He’s shocked while Kakashi and Zabuza are not phased. To me, it show a contrast between all three of them, Kakashi and Zabuza have seen the worst of worst when it comes to shinobi and Naruto is experiencing that for the first time. Also, later on when Zabuza kills Gato Naruto looks away and Kakashi says to him “don’t look away, when you live like a warrior this is how it ends” like this is the norm for shinobi, seeing people die. Or maybe I’m just looking to deep into this
Goku2241 Also Kakashi can be seen as jaded or complacent when Sasuke wakes up and claims that it’s a miracle, showing that he genuinely believed that Sasuke had died, as it is normal for the young to die quickly in the world of shinobi.
I feel like Haku's death hit me sooo hard, just like Kimimaru's death, because he was used and had potential to be a compassionate person but was just a product of a series of unfortunate events.

Haku and zabuza were absolutely integral to naruto and sasuke's story. I believe both naruto and sasuke visited their graves sometime after the end of shippuden.
"You have the same eyes as me." -Haku to Zabuza The look they shared wasn't that of frigid murders, but that of want for someone to love them. Together they filled that need.
Im glad Zabuza and Haku were the villains of the first arc and im glad it was the first arc as well. I dont know why but I got attached to both these characters and I almost cried when zabuza died next to Haku. Even when there was a flashback with Kimimaro meeting Zabuza and Haku i got sad again lmao.
When Zabuza and Haku were reanimated during the war, Kakashi fought against them and said that now they were truly being used as tools. And the way that Kabuto disrespected so many dead shinobi and the way they died got the Copycat Ninja, and me, really steamed. While Naruto influences so many people around him, it's thanks to people like Haku, Iruka, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Gaara, Tsunade, Sasuke and so many others that form his outlook on the world and what he wants in life.
Sivan Levi kabutos reanimation was a blessing in disguise. People like gaara, sasuke, pakura student, mifune, hanzo, sasori, Sai, even kabuto himself. They helped these people fully move on in life.
@@picassojulien899 Yeah. It gave them closure. Still though it was underused. In the sense that, we didn't get to see some of the coolest interactions we could have seen Like Sasori making peace with his grandma, or juugo meeting kimimaro or suigetsu meeting his brother
From the 4 comments above me, i can conclude that war arc kabuto really has no idea how humans function. He went to give them leeway and kept their personalities on purpose so it makes it harder to seal them away, only to get far stronger shinobi after each reanimated ninja.
It broke my heart when Kakashi said, during the war arc, “I’m glad you were Naruto’s first Opponents” they inspired his ninja way, and helped him have purpose bigger than being acknowledged
This arc summed up Naruto's unique story in a nutshell. To change people, in a cruel world of Shinobi, breaking his opponent's "mask" and reveal their identity, people with wounded heart and emotional trauma This is basically what he did to Pain and Obito

Even though I watched the series likely over 4 times and saw the scene of Haku and Zabuza, it always wrecked my heart and cried like an adult baby. Literally!
I remember i saw the naruto arc during a mini marathon on toonami when i was younger. It broke me watching Naruto come to the realization of how harsh his world is. I didn't know much about the series beforehand but i was hook ever since. It's been a bumpy road, especially buruto but I'm glad I've been on it all these years.
I still remember this like it was yesterday. I was my very first experience with any anime what so ever. I was 6 and was at a new years party but being one of the only kids there and an introvert at the time i stuck to myself and it was in my step dads office building being familiar with the setting i snuck away and found a conference room and saw i tv thus turning it on and trying to find cartoons late at night. Immediately I went to cartoonnetwork and found what i was looking for but not what i was expecting as there was blood and violent and such emotions that i wasn't show as being a kid i was sheltered and treated as such to now be show a real glimpse of human nature through this anime Naruto. It was the final episode but i could grasp what was happening and the memories is still vivid with me today 16 years later.
This arc is one of my fav's. At the end when Zabuza slowly dies, he aknowledged Kakashi and thanked him. Asked Kakashi to put him next to Haku. Without hesitation Kakashi carries Zabuza with empathy...that is when my heart fell for Kakashi. Team 7 with respect acknowledged both Haku and Zabuza. The one thing that made me truly believed in Naruto, when he asks Kakashi if its ok to like bad guys? I knew from then that Naruto will forgive and show no hate towards anyone. I love Naruto and all characters from Konoha.
I love your videos so much because you really look in to the purpose of the creator rather than just summarizing their content based on visuals and other peoples opinions. I think you have a knack for figuring out what a show was made for rather than just trying to show off your superiority in taste/intellect, you have everything from anime to music to movies to marvel, and it shows you value the people that make these things and what they’re trying to show to the new generation. Having you as the spokesperson for this creators in a platform available to people of all ages is even better because your audience (teenagers and young adults) can gain a deeper understanding of something that would otherwise be considered a waste of time. Honestly you make UA-cam a better place to learn for a kid like me and that’s why you’re my favorite UA-camr.
I just started watching Naruto. I just finished watching the first season and as soon as I check UA-cam. Your video pops up in my feed. Absolutely magical
Yuki clan history: After the war ended, memories of the gruesome battles still lingered in the minds of the people, causing wide-spread persecutions against those with type of kekkei genkai. Because of this, the Yuki clan, whose members carried the Ice Release kekkei genkai went into hiding for their own safety.
One other video where I finish with tears ! hahaha Haku is my favorite character in Naruto, he don't appear very much, he is not as stronger as the other opponent but he is the most... I don't know... pure, kind, empathetic... and yeah, thank you for your deep voice and clear view Sage's Rain
This is the first time ever i shed tears, first time ever watching naruto starting from the beginning, i never cried before to a movie or anime, but damn, this one hit me so hard, hard enough to make me come here see wether i'm the only one that cried or not, well, i am not disappointed. This is, and forever will be the best anime of all time.
Feeling every emotion fully is a difficult thing to do especially when it is so easy/ more convenient to ignore our emotions. Thank you for making this video I really needed to hear this!
So this whole Genin arc was a Rollercoaster, I loved every moment of it, when sauske died for a moment and naruto went crazy. That hit like a rock, even worse is haku was breaking too because he didn't want to really hurt Naruto or Sauske, then when he came to the realization that he was just a pawn to Zabuza that hurt too. Then towards the end when all of Gatos men showed up and Naruto made Zabuza human again. And also when Kakashi moved a dying Zabuza next to his partner in life Haku, Zabuza began to cry because he wanted to be with Haku up in heaven and just seeing Haku's last tear fall from his eyes had me balling my eyes out. Naruto is going to be forever one of my favorite anime of all time and i will treasure it. It does make me think though what if Haku and Naruto did became friends? And Zabuza began to change his ways. It just makes me wonder.

Naruto really rejected the idea of ninja being emotionless tools used to kill so hard that he vowed to change the ninja world AND THEN DOES IT. It's also a nice detail how he'll periodically express how important zabuza and haku were to shaping him into the person he is to various people

“when someone has something to protect, then that is when they are truly strong”
weirdmiggy, true.
Haku's always been in my top 10 for all-time anime characters
I was crying watching this video man I ain’t even tear up like this before man…
This arc is one of my fav's. I love Naruto and all characters from Konoha.
this was Naruto's first mission thank you for making. Deserve so many more subscribers.
Couldn't be more well-timed. I just started the series a few weeks ago. Thanks for the wonderful content.
Honestly you make UA-cam a better place to learn for a kid like me and that’s why you’re my favorite UA-camr.
this video made me cry dawg, the music, the words that you use.
you’re really *underrated.*
The whole wave arc made me sad especially when zabuza started to cry
I just started watching Naruto. I just finished watching the first season and as soon as I check UA-cam. Your video pops up in my feed. Absolutely magical
Yes, I love Haku and Zabusa! Thank you so much for doing a video on this!😀
*_"when a person has something important to protect that is when they can become truly strong."_* - Haku
Sage's rain you have the ability to make anyone cry anytime. You the best.
What a great depiction of this beautifully written arc❤️
After it was Haku and Zabuza's story, I started to appreciate Naruto
Dude I love your videos they give me chills your commentary over stories I love is amazing this arc in naruto is one of my favorite in the series and you did an excellent job on the relationship between them
You should do a vid on kimimaro it might be a little similar but he was a really interesting character and his view points when talking to Gaara are cool too.
I love how zabuza and haku still played a huge part in naruto life and you can see how deeply they both impacted him and the way he acts this was definitely one of the best arcs nothing has really cam close to this also another thing the first season of the show was quite dark and had a decent amount of blood yet the rest of the seasons of naruto were pretty tame in comparison but anyways still awesome characters both of them
I could listen to u talk about every character episode or fight in naruto love all ur vids
Your voice is like butter holding a knife. Thank you for your beautiful content.
I really enjoy your videos essays. I enjoy the variety in your videos. And the way you go about talking about the topics in them.
6:40 damn you touch my soul at this moment especially when you mentioned Naruto and haku bringing zabuza to tears
Episode 19 : A demon in the snow ❤
made me watch naruto till the end.
It was simply beautiful 😢❤️
Land of waves is such a great arc bro, when I saw zabuza cry I was genuinely shocked because up until then he was just some stone cold killer and somebody who was his enemy was able to bring him to tears
this was an amazing mission early on in the series. I absolutely loved this mission. shit hits you right in the feels and probably what made a lot of us stick with naruto. this was beyond underrated and undercooked.
This is just as good as your take on Pain's philosophy, which was already damned good.
I still remember how heavy my heart felt after watching that arc and watching this video gave me literal chills.Truly appreciate your efforts of creating such beautiful contents. Thank you Sage's Rain.
I love your videos for their seriously thoughtful breakdown, but it's your super soothing voice that makes me binge watch your videos 😆
Just watching this video gave me big time feels like the show. I can relate to zabuza so much .. it’s hard to change
I was watching Naruto for the first time a few years ago, and this arc made me shed tears
The first time I cried while watching this series
Wasn't my last tho.
amazing as always i actually binge-watching 90% of the vids in your channel please keep up the good quality work :)
Unpopular opinion: the Land of Waves arc is one of the best arc in the entire series.
Goku2241 that’s actually a popular opinion
Too much water
I agree 💯%
This arc, is what kickstarted Naruto in my opinion.
Its moments and stories like this that makes Naruto one of the greatest animes of all time, Thank you for this video man, Its beautiful.
Thank you for posting this. My friend loves Zabuza so much! This will be a Christmas gift to her
Seeing and hearing about Haku story of when he was little and how his father killed his mother and hurted him hit me pretty hard, it’s like the feeling of sadness just came out of the blue... I’m still dealing with it right now
Haku is one of my favourite characters in Naruto. I don't really know why but he just feels special to me, this arc always makes me cry.
my favorite channel on UA-cam period, especially the naruto videos ❤💞
Naruto really rejected the idea of ninja being emotionless tools used to kill so hard that he vowed to change the ninja world AND THEN DOES IT.
It's also a nice detail how he'll periodically express how important zabuza and haku were to shaping him into the person he is to various people
Another aewsome naruto video brother man KEEP IT UP!!!!
Thanks for making this video zabuza and hakus impact in naruto is slept on
This arc introduced me to Naruto 14 years ago..
its so beautifull
