Great job! I like how you've left the edges of the plaster more ragged. I've seen some restorations on places in Italy where they've cut the edges of the plaster they've left to very uniform shapes, and I hate it! It looks too 'planned' and really takes away from the whole esthetic of 'old stones showing through plaster' as an historical detail. Incredible pointing, very pleasing lol. Most jobs I've seen go through a terrible stage of it covering half of the stones and only starts looking good after a few cleaning sessions. 👌
When using a lime mortar between stones, you should have sprayed all of the empty joints before applying the lime if you put it on dry, it will dry the lime out quickly and will crack.
Beautiful work Paul. I'm surprised that it's not cracking as you should be spraying the wall with water before applying the lime. You could see the water from the lime being sucked into the stones. I'm restoring a similar old stone house in Greece. I love lime pointing, it's slow but so rewarding.

Morning Ray 👋🏼 Oh wow good to know 👍🏼, thanks as usual for watching Ray 🙏🏼🥳
@@yipnpaulshelpweboughtavillage the wall's looking nicely, nicely done aswell. Would never have gave it a thought to do it like that.
Hope you're sorted somewhere else to live if you are going to rent that house/cottage out ?
shouldn't you wet the stones before the plastering?
Hey Ruth..it’s not always necessary when rendering 👍🏼🥰
Bedankt
To make more beautiful walls 😘
@@Omaivo2904🙏🏼 Hartelijk dank!!! 🥰
Hey there. I thought you had to spray the way before pointing?
Hey Bernadette👋🏼 yes lots of people do that don’t they, I very often don’t and in 4 years there has never been a problem with shrinkage or cracking at all so I guess it can’t be that necessary after all 🤣🥳, my way works for us 😅, great to see your name pop up Poppet 🥰
So neat fantastic ...I love it .The story with the clock I was saying out loud it's Northamptonshire. I lived not far so interesting the story ❤
Morning Poppet 👋🏼.. thanks for watching. 🥰
Well done! Keep up the wonderful work. Where will you live next tourist season if you rent out the cottage you have been living in? Will you camp out in a building zone?
@@DEEDEE-cn1ud Hey DeeDee👋🏼, yes that’s about the strength of it 🤣😳🤞🏼🥳🥰
@@yipnpaulshelpweboughtavillage An incentive to get cracking on next buildings reno, asap, so you have decent accommodations to camp out in. Which building needs the least amount of time to upgrade? And is cost effective to upgrade first, on a budget? You are two healthy fellows. You can do it. First try to weather proof it as soon as possible so you will be able to begin interior work this coming winter. Try to complete one room for your sleeping area with electrics and water for bare minimum come summer. A temporary outhouse for toilet could work at the site you will be working at next summer if sewer isn't possible before winter sets in. #1 Roof, #2 windows, #3 structural floor, #4 rudimentary electric for power tools and heat as needed depending on construction products used. Bob's your uncle, now ready for interior work.. insulation, vapor barrier, studded interior walls, and soo much more.
From Normandy near vire we can leave here at 6 am and be eating lunch in Kent it's not that far we been here for 20 years it's a wonderful place to live good luck guys am enjoying your vids xxx

Do you not have to wet the wall first or have you done it Paul 😊
Hey Martin👋🏼, the sand was pretty wet as it had been raining and so I knew there was a lot of moisture in the mix, in my experience it is not always necessary if the situation allows. 🙏🏼

HI GUYS have you tried using a. Piping bag for filling in be tween the stonework and when it’s dry go over with a hard brush
@@kennethrush9363 Hey 👋🏼, yes we use a proper mortar gun when the gaps lend themselves to it but Paul loves to do it this way.. he’s old skool 🤣..thanks for watching Kenneth 🥳🙏🏼
Lovely husbands working together, nice.
Hey q..thanks so much for! 🙏🏼🥳
Amazing stone work!!!!! So, how many buildings or rooms in buildings have you completed now? I am a bit confused.

@@lesleyhouston22 🥰 Subs and shares are worth their weight in gold Lesley..thank you so much, so pleased to have you on-board 🥳🥳🥰
I didn’t know you’d moved from tunbridge Wells,I’m just down the road in Nutley. I love the way you’re so tidy and organised when you work, I’ve stopped watching one particular UA-camr because the mess and chaos he surrounds himself with drives me nuts! I’ve just bought you a bag of lime!!!!
🤣😂.. Any prolonged mess literally messes with our heads so it just can’t happen..everyone who comes here comments on how un-building site it is..which of course is a bonus 🤣.
Nutlets yes we know it.. I (Yip) spent a few years in Uckfield.. loved it.
Thanks again for the lime, we literally could not do this without the love and support we receive from wonderful folks like you.. so thank you! 🥰
What mix do you use Paul. It looked like 4 to 1 but then you put more in. Making it look like 2 1/2 to 1 ?
Hey David👋🏼, yes it is a 4 to 1 , if I think the spade fulls have been light then I’ll throw one in for luck 🥳🥳
Oh ok that makes sense now lol
