Back in 2013, Nickel Plate Road 765 pulled several excursion trains in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania for Norfolk Southern’s famed “21st Century Steam Program.” That year, we at Delay In Block teamed up with Fast Flying Virginian Productions to document two of the 765’s excursions in Keystone and Hoosier states.

765 is in the PRR cool.
Always good to see my hometown engine out on the rails!!
This narrator was great, and this video is awesome! Thanks for including the freights.
The shot from the S-curve with the meet is fantastic. The meet plus the old PRR signals make it great to watch!
765:The Spirit of Fort Wayne!
As someone who grew up watching 765 both online and also seeing her in person thanks for uploading this
This is a wonderful video, Drato! I enjoyed all the views of the train as it went around Horseshoe Curve. The S-curve through Plumber's Hollow with the 765 meeting the freight train was a section of the railroad that I had never seen before. I enjoyed watching this video very much.
Excellent video my friend 👍Thumbs Up😃
Great Job DIN!! I really liked the the scene at Mount Union, the U.S. 24 chase, and both scenes Clymers!! Thank you for making this entertaining (and informational) video of my most favorite Berkshire!
great awesome trip video of 765 on these excursions around the horseshoe curve and the mainline
nice whistle action too
and nice freght catches also
I love that locomotive, but if I had any input, I'd request that they tune that whistle. :)
My stepfather was an NS employee; he and my mother were on this train. Wish I had the means to get there to see this. Great shots, and cool to hear Dave Ferrell is involved... he's a good man.
I was on this trip. Thanks for the video!
It'll be nice, if the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society owns tanker trucks known as "mobile water towers" to provide NKP 2-8-4 765 with pumping water from their tanks into it's tender during scheduled steam excursions.
Its cool the 765 on this locomotive is the same as my zip code i missed this locomotive when it came through my town
We just rode on her this past Saturday!
10:00 it’s cool how you see the dooms as you watch it from far away
If only FWHS could tune her whistle back to her 1980s pitch, she'd be perfect
John Force would be proud.
I've been to the Horseshoe Curve tourist viewing area. Pretty awesome sight and even more so at night. With the sparks coming from the wheels as they slip on the track. Unfortunately, my visit was during the day.
I had to dumb all the ash after this event at Fort Wayne train historical society it was fun about the first 7 minutes lol
Great catches and awesome video
How do you guys find out when these excursions happen?
Long lived the NKP ❤
Great video
Awesome Coverage
🍂🥀🇮🇳🥀🍂
Wow this is awesome I only know little about 765.
I saw 765 4 times!
Very nice. I imagine the following conversation between #765 and the NS diesel at Plumber's Hollow (16:55):
765: "Working hard hauling freight, I see."
NS Diesel: "Well, you're carrying passengers, and that's just as important."
I think Rich Melvin was at the throttle on the Berk then
at least the PRRs infrastructure was built to last, even if the management was not.
What is the date of that excursion , I tought NS would not let a steamer on their rails ???
I mean leading
Unless it gets PTC
This was in 2013.
Great video and content 👏 .
Next time try slapping it and turning it off and back on again to get it to reboot 😂
There's just something about a 4-8-4 that looks "right."
Its not a 484. Its a 284 Berkshire type
idk if anyone notice the 20th century limited car
At 14:58 what is that car # 42 that looks like it has a diesel engine in it and the door on the side
Maybe a steam generator
@@evan12697 It's not a steam generator car. Look at my comment below for what it actually is.
To the OP and the first guy to reply, car 42 is a Head End Power generator car and coach combine. It's currently located at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. From what an NCTM volunteer friend has told me, the soundproofing on 42 is so good you can't hardly hear the generator on it running when you're in the coach section and the door between the coach and generator sections is closed.
So, a 2013 repost?
Please God, let this be narrated by Drayton. The new guy is ok (not really but being polite ya know)but he doesn't know about trains, isn't passionate about trains and is only barely competent with his geography and pronunciation. It's painful to listen to after being spoiled by years of Drayton doing such a solid job.
Drayton has the classic railfan style voice. Reminded me of the Greg Scholl videos. Really hope he goes back to narrating
Where is Drayton?
Cope
@@IndianaNorthWestern Nope
