I try not to mention it too early on in reaction series but by this time you can probably figure out that they do our girl Bobbi dirty in this season. She was a literal hero to humanity, not just to Mars. And then also came back to face whatever punishment they would give her and serve her penance and they just keep kicking her while she's down. But on a meta level I'm glad that we get to spend so much time with her and with Mars.
16:00 The reason the story lines aren't connecting this season is that Bobbie isn't in the book that this season is based on at all, and Avasarala has a much more limited role in the book. The show runners didn't want their actors just sitting out the entire season, and let's face it the fans want to see their favorite characters, so these story lines were added. Bobbie's story comes from a separate novella which was changed significantly to be told from Bobbie's perspective. So yes, as you said, the story lines aren't connecting, but the alternative would have been to have these characters missing or greatly reduced in Season 4 and that would have been much worse.
The Roci arrived at Ilus and Miller jumped straight into the protomolecure stuff and started flipping all the buttons. Then he hit a brick wall and returned to Holden like "Hey, Hey, Hey buddy next clue im the case, come pull the branch out the circuit. Then he went right back to flipping switches. Now this thing happened. I love the Parallel Between Ashford and Marco this season. They were both angry passionate young belters. He can see the fire in Marcos eyes won't burn out. He knows how dangerous his silver tongue is because he was the same. We have seen Drummer first gravitated to Anderson Dawes until she saw the kind of man he was. Then Jonson. Now Marco apealed to that same plight she feels for belters and the justice they desire. Only Ashford knows where this road goes.
I'm sure when James gets the message from Chrisjen he'll be like, "Oh no, I made my other mom mad again. Imma go stand in the corner and think about what I did wrong."
Proto-Miller has already told Holden that he's just a "tool" to the Protomolecule...for the purpose of the Protomolecule. Regarding the age of Naomi's son Filip, remember the coroner telling Miller that Belters age fast and look older than they are. Like Dawes, Marco speaks the absolute truth about Inner and Mars intention. He's got a hidden agenda, just as Dawes, but he's absolutely right about the Inners. Ultimately, they don't intend to let the OPA keep Medina. Like Murtry, they're just waiting for sufficient pretext. And Drummer knows that. The Ganymede refugees have no place else to go. They managed to get to Ilus and survive, then got lucky with the discovery of lithium. After they reported their find, Earth and Mars gave a charter for the entire planet to the earth mining corporation RCE. Murty's mission, as he explained to the commander of the science team, was to take the planet away from the Belters for RCE, as he said he had done before when Belters had found valuable asteroids. That's why they were landing on the Belters' pad instead of, say, on the opposite side of the planet. The intention was to jump the Belters' claim. And since Murtry and others had done that before, the Belters knew why they were coming.
An artifact theory: The Roci shows up and Miller starts flipping switches. Inadvertently, this reactivates the long dormant environmental samplers of the quiescent terraformers (The flying bug swarm). The teraformers probe bugs sample the settlers DNA and realize that the planet is less than ideal for them so it begins reactivating units in an effort to continue modifying the environment to more ideally accommodate the newly arrived settlers. But the machines are old.... and complications ensue...
Not saying the dialogue in this show is at black sails level or anything, but I gotta say the loosened format of streaming services has really improved the writing of the series. The scene with Marcos and the factions is so smooth.
Abbas Zaidi yeah that scene was just so well structured. You start of thinking something is going to happen. Your led down a line of back and forward dialogue. He comes out on top, and the adverse expectation happens(if your not a book reader lol) also the fact that the music didn’t just start of really intense either. That’s a scene trait I feel like black sails did really well where you’ll start out a dialogue scene and it’s just the dialogue and the actors. No sound needed beyond what’s in the scene. But as the scene nears its climax the music gradually builds along side it.
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS. I'm mad i can't watch any expanse shows yet. I have been reacting to them i am now on ep 8...just finished on season 1.... You are much further than me! Ughhh well I will check out your other videos and see what i can watch lmak
10:22 He is floating. What is my crime? This season is about the consequences of change. To survive the p-molecule, everyone was forced to cooperate. This has brought change. Can Marco, Chrisjen and Bobbie each survive and still maintainin their principles in the face of change?
I love the ending of that episode. That punch. “This ends now” the Roci launching and the beautiful widescreen cinematography. Incidentally I do wonder if the G’s the Roci pulls at launch would’ve killed Naomi. As for Marco... you’re getting prescient again, Carly. Atta girl 👍🏽
So violence by the protagonist and terrorists is ok but Murtry is in the wrong? Belters fired first. Then Naiomi fired first. Murtry was always reacting. Holden was a hypocrite here.
Illus was a dead world filled with ancient ring-builder technology until the protomolecule/Miller started flipping switches and turning things on in an attempt to find out what happened to it's creator. The machines on Illus have been dormant for a billion years. Is it surprising that some would malfunction after all that time?
14:12 It is not drugs. It is technology. To your point about moving to different planets, Drummer is right. A few generations on a planet, Belters won't be Belters any more. The same with the Martians. When the struggle for air can be solved just by moving elsewhere, why stay together? This has always been the nature of life. To adapt, yes, but more to grow with ease. Culture adapts to life not the other way around.
Your right! Mars doesn't deserve Bobby! She just stayed with the Rocinante crew! The crap on Illus is a fricking mess! Murtry may have reasons for his actions but I think he is taking it to far! Great reaction and analysis! Can't wait for the next one!
Note that even now. Murtry hasn't raised a hand to anyone in the roci crew. He hasn't tried to hurt any other belters. He is still trying to reason with Holden and Holden throws the first punch. He is Amos without the guide. All he wanted was the people responsible for killing his crew. He lost 20 something people and he didn't even want to get even. Just the handfull who was responsible. That belter leader could have stopped all this by finding out who of her people were responsible and handing them over to Holden to keep locked up until they could be tried. But she chose to stick her head in the sand instead 😂
'She let him live? I have a feeling that's a mistake.' Welp. :) (It's weird because I'm talking to the ghost of you from before what you are/know now... heh)
Murtry was completely in the right here. Holden was a hypocrite. - Belters fired first - He was threatened after his people died - They were planning to kill him, again! - Naiomi did help a fugitive - Naiomi opened fire FIRST! Murtry had no qualms with Holdens crew - Holden attacked Murtry first. Holden’s hypocrisy: “if anything happens to my crew you are dead but you can’t avenge your crew’s death”

I dunno. I don't like the concept of murtry's character. He seems way too one dimensional compared to everything else in The Expanse. He's more like a simple Stargate baddie. Even the Martian marines that had just 2 minutes screentime seemed to have more depth than him.
Murtry is Amos without a guide. If the roci crew was killed in an attack and Amos was left in charge of scientists. He would be the same as murtry. To Amos and murtry, everything is black and white and the people they follow sort out the grey for them. Murtry is Amos with no one to sort out the grey for him. I think murtry has more depth than U give him credit for :)

If you look frame by frame when the PDC fires for the first time, you can see the guards knocked by the shockwave
I still don’t get why. Don’t get me wrong, 40mm cannons are powerful af, but nowhere near enough to knock someone over standing that far away.
This season is best compared with season 1. It's lots of setting the board and bringing in new variables.
