Ka Hao is a group of 24 young Māori from Te Tairawhiti who have been on a life-changing journey through waiata.
Ahead of their debut album, Gracie Kopua and Kaea Hills from Ka Hao sat down to talk about the song.
This is part of our reo Māori series, Ohinga, created by Mahi Tahi Media, with funding from Te Māngai Pāho.

Girl loving this song
Hi there, I have a question. I found out about your song through tick tock and I absolutely love the song and the dances that I have seen of it. I would love to make a tick tock of it but I'm not sure what you think of foreigners doing the dance, is it to personal of a song and I also don't know the meaning of the song, I think before I dance or do anything of a sort, it would be awesome a translation. Much love Angelica :) ❤️
They see it as respect when other cultures try Theyer dances

@@kalesgemberling2835 no not necessarily, we just appreciate it when people do it respectfully. So appreciation is more of an appropriate word rather than us seeing as it is respectful.
