Agree with insulating soil pipe. I did that with mineral wool as we have an upstairs bathroom that flows through a downstairs one. Perfectly quiet when flushed upstairs. Worth losing a bit pf space to do that ;-)
It's funny you mention about houses being out of square - I just put an "over the stairs" cupboard in, using my laser, and realised that pretty much everything in my 1970s house is indeed on the wonk! There's nothing that''s perpendicular or parallel once you actually look closely!
The difficulty is the side that has dropped is on the side with the newel post, and the step I was showing against is that top step, so unless the actual step has dropped within the stringer, I'd have to jack up the newel post. I'll take another look, but it would almost have been easier if it was the wall side that had dropped, as I could jack it up and bolt it in higher up.
office boy who done your drawings for your extension, im after single story timber frame extension 5x4m cathedral ceiling in Newcastle area cant seem to find architect thats does foundation drawing and timber frame drawing, with bison beam floor.
Sounds like a fantastic project mate, I'd love to see that develop as you get there. I used a great company called iPlans - they are remote based, so they come and measure up and consult with you on site, and then do everything remotely after that, including live design sessions via an online portal. They are architects and have a structural engineer that they work with, as well as a planning consultant too, so it's an all-in-one service, carried out by different experts within the same company. Also, if you're looking to build it all yourself, they give you an incredibly comprehensive document which details exactly how they want you to build each element, so you have stick to what they've said to do, and know that you'll sail through building control inspections. I'm going to do a video on them at the end of this project, because I think they're brilliant, but if you get in touch now, please tell them that Tom from Office Boy Builder recommended them, they'll see you right.
Lol, much like the "budget" it's a bit endless...! I've broken it down into more manageable chunks to try and maintain momentum. It's also hard because I'm back at full-time work so it's basically just evenings now. We remortgage in May/June so I really need to have a lot of it done by then! 🤣
@@OfficeBoyBuilder I feel for you. Evenings are hard graft especially if you have kids. Weekends are a given. Looks like you have some help which is useful. Remember to take a day off a weekend here or there. It’s more productive that way. When I have a big project on like that boarding out gets me happy it’s like the final hurdle where some people think you have so much to do still. What they don’t realise is the prep work and effort that it has taken to get there 😀
Just fix the stairs plumb since you have ripped the rest of your Gaff to pieces put it and build new correctly !! Few wedges re do the supports on the side and jobs a good un! Instead you wanna go down the route of bodge it.....Baffling
I like your thinking about the poo water well thought out 👍
It’s all part of the beauty of an old shuit house we had exactly the same issues I feel your frustration

Great progress...

It's absolutely fascinating how we get so used to lines that look straight but aren't really...!
Wheres the video for knocking the internal wall down after the plumber installed the boiler looking forward to watching that
I think this is the one you're after; ua-cam.com/video/ianlkg2ad8o/v-deo.html
Would jacking the stairs level have been an option, or would it have damaged the finish on the inside? Just an observation, 👍 🔨 🇮🇪
