You may want to correctly install the U-Clamp holding your cell booster antenna. Your installer installed the notched sleeve on U bolt on wrong side of pipe. It’s gonna bend and loosen your clamp. It’s at 2:25
I have recently installed a Dish in my PleasureWay Ascent. Instead of putting the antenna on the roof, I put it on a tripod, so that I can remote it from under any trees. So far I’ve only used the 25’ cable that came with the receiver & antenna package. I added the hard drive and a Bluetooth adapter to move the TV sound to better speakers. So far, so good. I store the antenna on the floor of the bathroom while traveling. It takes about 15 minutes from start, setting up the tripod, to finish before the system has finished its setup process.
everyone prefers their own install, but i would never have that much exposed cable & the silicon will eventually dry up, hopefully DISH will be responsible for any future problems, i guess the material & dome were provided for free from DISH for media exposure, i wish you all the luck that you get no leaks🙏🏻, , always a pleasure to watch your videos
Dish didn’t install the satellite. He had a 3rd party install the satellite and WiFi booster. Dish would not be responsible for a 3rd party installation.
I would like to add to your what you were saying about the Wally receiver. 1 it is not a DVR out of the box. You must purchase a compatible external hard drive and have the DVR service added to the service. Now if you are use a dome type satellite you can’t watch live tv and record at the same time unless you are recording what you are watching or what you are recording is on the same satellite as the live tv is on. 2 wally receivers do not have built in WiFi. You must purchase a dish WiFi adapter in order to connect the Wally to your WiFi. Now you can connect a Ethernet cord from the modem/router to the Wally. 3 Netflix subscription is not included with your dish service. You must subscribe to Netflix in order to watch Netflix on a dish receiver.
I'm very confused also. Didn't the Leisure come with an antenna that picks up DISH. Also a booster from Leisure. If all the standard equipment from Leisure is so bad, I will have to rethink about a purchase of a new Leisure Unity. It just seems like you are replacing everything on a one year old unit.
We recently got the dish equipment and it’s been too much of a challenge to get it working properly. First weekend tech support supplied all the WRONG answers to all our setup problems. We opted NOT to mount unit on roof because of TREES blocking signal. & we got 25,50,75,&100 foot cables hopefully for all situations . Hopefully we have all the kinks worked out and next campout might actually get to see something on DISH TV
Sorry you had issues. I plugged ours in and... it worked. No hassle. Had to get a wireless dongle from DISH for Netflix but it was really a breeze to set up.
All the Bloggers must have gotten a "free" unit to install.. I've seen several installing this same exact system in the last couple weeks. Dish must be making a play for more Rv'ers. Dish outdoors and a flex plan is actually a inexpensive way to get tv. I get locals and a news pac in addition to the basic flex pack for about 55 bucks a month. The outdoors account you can turn off or on and change programing at will by app without talking to anyone.
Mine will not work unless you are in the middle of a cleared field. Particularly in the Northeast, where the DISH Outdoors system is weakest, as it only can lock on the Western Arc satellites. It also takes much longer than I would have expected to fire up, lock on signals and download the program guide. The theory of the roof-mounted DISH versus the actual user experience has been unacceptable.
Hi Mike and Jennifer, we just got a new class A RV and had the dish mounted on the roof and so far we’ve not been able to get any signal! We’ve been on 4 trips and every where we’ve been I’ve called dish to help me figure it out and they can’t! Only once we’re we in a lot of trees we’ve had wide open spaces and nothing! I’m wondering how it’s gout for you guys? I know you boondock and have trees so have you had the same issues? Thanks for your help, we’re thinking the coast isn’t worth it at this point. Thanks again Tammy
I was hoping to see how it worked in the location where you recorded your introduction and conclusion. There were lots of trees around there. I just bought and set up the tailgater pro but went to a more suitable location to get it activated because my house is surrounded by woods. Guess I should just get out there and see what happens!
Thks for the video! My wife and I are considering this playmaker but didn't want to pay for a whole month when we just go for the weekend. This may be a dumb question, but can we use this at our home when not camping? We don't have any service at our house just over the air local channels. Thks again, we are new rvers.
So how to set up satellite on rv? Is finding someone else to set it up. I watched this because like you, I don't have anyone around here to set one up.
You can plug in a USB hard drive and record to that, though you can only record one thing at a time. You need to call Dish to activate the DVR after connecting the drive.
Have I missed something along the way. Why a cell booster? From one of your videos you explained why you installed a Togo for the unlimited data. So Togo is not also no a cell booster?
The ToGo is just that, basically a packaged router to share data with WiFi devices in the coach, LTE sharing, as well as latching on to guest wifi. The Togo doesn't have the same amplification as dedicated boosters like a SureCall or WeBoost etc. I think Mike and Jen's issue is in boondocking scenarios where LTE is sparse or non-existent. Satellite will always save the day in rural Montana.
One small problem. I tried to activate from the antenna into the satellite / cable input and it wouldn't lock onto the location I was at (Washington). The Dish tech said that the trailer was incompatible. I had to hook directly from the antenna to the receiver. That sucks. How about "how to program. That was a waste of six minutes.
The problem with your argument is that the antenna is a problem if your park under or near trees. Better to move the portable antenna into an open space on a tripod. Its very light & takes up very little room. Also, you just increased the roof high on your rig by about 12", which could be a problem in low overhead locations. We keep ours in our Toad Jeep, and it takes 2 minutes to set up.
We cut the Satellite service a year ago and went to UA-cam T and Philosophy V as a streaming providers. Anyone have info if we can add a Roku to our LYV TVs and still stream. I’m sure that’s going to involve some high capacity data packages and maybe some cellular boosters.
Great information! I am looking for specialist to help us with our mobile technology in central KY. We have not hAd any luck locating anyone through the local RV companies and wondered how to expand our search for knowledgeable installation companies.
I made the mistake of letting the dealer mount my dish on the roof of the RV. At some campgrounds we cannot pick up a signal at all because the dish is stationary on the roof of the RV and there is an obstruction preventing us from picking up the satellite signal. To solve this issue we ended up purchasing an extra DISH to put outside the RV so that we can move it around and get direct access to the sky where the satellite signal is coming from.
If you are using a playmaker you can remove the dome off the mounting kit and set the dome on a tripod or ground. However it is time consuming. There is a bolt that bolts the dome to the mounting kit. You can remove those bolts and lift the dome off the mounting kit.
In my opinion as a satellite retailer and tech for 30 years the tailgater pro is the best on the market today 7/2020. How ever it only works with dish and 1 tv. Don't be fooled any dome dish with Dish Network will only work with 1 tv, oh they say 2 but take it from me you will be forever having problems with 2nd tv. I would stay away form Directv for now. BUut If you have a directv at home and want to add a receiver to your account Good Luck, Tailgater One will work. Only reason to do the Travler is if you want DVR. Even if you want to tV's still do Tailgator pro but buy 2 of them one for each receiver its cheaper then 1 Travler. I have been selling and installing on RS,s for over 10 years, Satellite Steve
Never use silicone on a RV roof Where the satalilite attaches to the RV should have self leveling covering the screws. 28 yrs experience silicone is unreliable especially on a roof.
Soooooooooo when you say “WE” installed a satellite system for our RV what you really mean is that you paid somebody else to do it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 GOT YA!
I used to think that very same thing. But, after repeating every experience known to man, or this man, I found that my getting away meant -- no mowing the lawn, no trimming bushes, no putting up with my two annoying neighbors, and when not watching TV, a pleasant stroll along the beach, or an overlook, or getting to know another local, out of the way restaurant. And when back at the motorhome, I can get away into another world entirely, and all from my small, but completely self contained Forest River Sunseeker -- love it. Now, where did I put that remote?
Too expensive for my taste. That's why I bought a dvd player built into my tv at a 3rd the cost of a dish that doesn't include the cost of what you'd pay for a bundle.

I would be really interested in hearing how you like it after 6 months. Reliability, how well it picks up signals in different terrain, etc.

If all the standard equipment from Leisure is so bad, I will have to rethink about a purchase of a new Leisure Unity. It just seems like you are replacing everything on a one year old unit.
Leisure has a satellite option, which Mike didn't have installed.
With your experience can't believe you let them use silicone which will age and not proper lap sealant?

Wow! Eric from Nomadic Fanatic just installed the same one on his class A
Ask ? I ordered it, and where do they install it, RV Dealer?
When you guys getting StarLink? Game changer!
Thank you for the informative video.
Will the satellite work under trees ?

Nomadic Fanatic got one of those also and made a video of how he installed it. Looks like a great satellite system for an RV.
I am very impressed with it
I saw both a Togo and a Connect 2.0 up there on the roof. Aren't they basically the exact same thing?
So how to set up satellite on rv? Is finding someone else to set it up. I watched this because like you, I don't have anyone around here to set one up.
I'm curious isn't the self leveling sealant better to use than silicone sealant, thanks
we have since added a much sturdier sealant as well
We've had the Wallys, and to the best of my knowledge, they do NOT record. Unless there's an upgraded one I don't know about.
You can plug in a USB hard drive and record to that, though you can only record one thing at a time. You need to call Dish to activate the DVR after connecting the drive.
Question. Did the dish replace the standard Antana?
Have I missed something along the way. Why a cell booster? From one of your videos you explained why you installed a Togo for the unlimited data. So Togo is not also no a cell booster?

@@xdcsdiverx absolutely correct
I need to watch the cardinals play base ball so I got to get one but I am worried about mounting on the roof if I cant get a signal I cant move it
Does the Wally have an internal hard drive DVR or do you have to buy an external hard drive to record?
Does your Netflix required your internet connection or is using satellite dish network feed?
It requires a Netflix subscription and the receiver connected to the internet.
how does this system work under trees? Most receivers won't work. please let me know.

I’m not seeing the discount method in these comments. Am I missing something?
Thanks Mike & Jen for sharing with us!
Where do you find that rv tv cable roof flashing?
Didn't your Leisure van come with DISH satellite?
No
What is the name of the installer you use? Were are they located?
Radios, Knobs, Speakers and Things in Pontiac, MI
How many internet boosters do you have now?
One cell booster... two wi fi extenders/4gLTE routers (one AT&T and one Verizon)
thanks
greats Information . Thanks
Nice
Excellent info!!
I though you were going to show us how you did it!
What is the Togo? I thought it was like a weboost. I’m confused. Lol
Togo is a wifi extender and 4G LTE router...not a booster
Um, the Wally doesn't record.

If you knew me, like Jennifer, you'd also insist I pay a pro to install it. I did, however, carefully observe it all :-)
As much as I love this, my mind opposes the idea of having a fully loaded channel line up, which clearly defeats the purpose of a getaway.
I used to think that very same thing. that's not camping lol God bless
Not specific enough.
Too expensive for my taste. That's why I bought a dvd player built into my tv at a 3rd the cost of a dish that doesn't include the cost of what you'd pay for a bundle.
How is this informative at all?
