      True. I think we would only have thoughts about people. No depth of feeling, passion, inspiration.

    "When you look at your life without gratitude you cannot appreciate how everything is trying to come together."

    • @philotonic
      @philotonic 8 місяців тому +1

      I feel it's just a cliché. If there's nothing in life that brought you to this current miserable situation, how can one express gratitude all the time?

    • @lauraprater2300
      @lauraprater2300 8 місяців тому +4

      @Gee60711 my experience is that it can be difficult. That's for sure. It takes practice. My practice came in the form of a year and a half fighting cancer of which 7 months was in bed going through chemo treatments. It really makes a world of difference to practice gratitude. Also, the belief in the concept that I am here to live the colors of life, including the seemingly undesirable situations that are not a logical result of my own actions. It would have been challenging for me to conceptualize prior to this experience. I literally wake up, open my curtains and think "awesome! I get another one!" And when I was getting my strength back and taking the trash to the curb I'd think "wow! Look at how strong you are!"

    • @philotonic

      Thank you, @lauraprater2300, for taking the time to respond to me. As you mentioned, it's incredibly challenging when someone has only experienced negativity and isn't currently experiencing anything to offset it, despite their efforts with various techniques. Nonetheless, I've made the decision to try again. Thanks once more.

    This young woman is hurt inside. She was taught to be pretty, to focus on that.
    She is bright, but she was never encouraged.
    She needs to trust herself.
    This is so much deeper than what the guest speaker is saying.
    The speaker is clever, she is smart, but she is missing the essence of Carrie.
    I think the speaker is overly sure of herself. She needs to be more open to her own self.
    She is not all knowing. She must listen more.

      What did you love to do as a kid? Play piano? Hug the hurting? Baseball? If it hasn't faded, that's your purpose. Lady Gaga is a perfect example because she's using her gift to spread the Light.

      @@brendalarue4690 Thank you for the great thoughtful question. What I loved to do as a young child, as in elementary school: Be out in nature, especially among trees. Read and project myself into the stories. Active fantasy life and wonderment of the world. Have/need a lot of alone time. Enjoy dogs. Enjoyed picking out clothes and putting a wardrobe/ensemble together. Enjoyed playing the flute in band class. Loved popular music of the day and dancing around in the living room. Probably enjoyed playing with boys more than girls. Rather “boy crazy” in that sense. I was athletic. Loved fantasizing about what “could be.” How things could be different, better. I was a “good” kid and a people pleaser. It’s taken me a lot of years to get over that and I still hate to disappoint people.
      As an older child, and into high school, I discovered theater and played a lot of leading roles in plays and musicals. And I did a lot of professional theater. But I stepped off the stage 17 years ago to become a self-employed Senior Caregiver in private homes. Now in my late 60s, I do not have a burning desire to get back on stage.

      I agree. This was more about identifying parts of yourself that are preventing you from knowing or living you true purpose. I was about knowing when to persevere through something that is difficult as apposed to putting yourself in an unhealthy situation. Ultimately our purpose has to be bigger than a family or career, because if we lose that, how do we continue. Ultimately our purpose is to love. Victor Frankel wrote Man’s search for meaning after being in a concentration camp in World War 2, and basically having loved ones and things to look forward to give us meaning. I think you want to know more of what’s you passion in life. And for those of us that are unsure, it’s usually that love for something we hid as a child because or family mocked and ridiculed us for that interest. Like if you wanted to be a dancer but your dad made you do sports or if you love hair and make up but your family went to an ultra conservative church. Things like that. I hope that helps. I’m right there with you. Good luck friend.

    My problem is, even though I know I have to choose optimism, I cannot do it, no matter how hard I try. I've tried affirmations. No good! Temporarily, I feel optimism, but it soon fades away. So, does this mean that one cannot change their archetype consciously.
