This is amazing . Love your video on detailing the movements of the horse. Simply awesome. Despite getting training lessons, most coaches do not explain the the workings of the horses’ biomechanics. Thank you so much Susan!

Thank you for watching. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you were able to find the whole lesson series on my channel. I'm launching an app soon in addition to my UA-cam Channel to expand my virtual coaching business. Stay tuned.

    Feeling each foot separately
Is such an important skill . When I start beginners or take on new to me but more advanced students, I make them close their eyes on the lunge and call out “now” when I ask them which foot is hitting the ground like “when does the inside hind hit?” It’s a super warm up exercise even if you’re riding by yourself to get a FEEL

Using my peripheral vision is something I would like to try. It’s funny how some horses you can feel immediately that you are on the right / wrong diagonal. Then there are the horses it’s trickier to feel it out and I have to sneak a peek.😉

I think it's to do with how big their strides are. I'm a beginner rider, and I realised that while posting the trot, I was consciously leaning forward to check if I was rising on the right shoulder, especially if their shoulders weren't as "prominent". I decided to concentrate on my feel and trust it, so at the moment I only look down to check to clarify, I try to feel it first. Any advice is welcome :)

I didn't know WHY the correct diagonal was important, but I knew it felt unbalanced. Why is that?

You have good feel and are an intuitive rider.

I think often on different horses the “wrong” diagonal is actually more natural to post!
