Thanks so much. I had to replace the monitor pickup sensor on a Concept 2 Model C and could not have done it without this video. I did not see any other videos that described it, and I would not have been able to figure it out on my own. Now my old rowing machine is as good as new.

This was so helpful, thank you. Only note: when feeding the new chain in, it needs to be on the side away from the flywheel, otherwise it'll block the axle when it's time to remove it. I learned this the hard way and had to take the chain all the way out, then feed it in on the other side.

What did you purchase it for? Cost and part costs?

Hey there m8, I have that model and when I start the movement and sometimes it offers almost no resistance at the first part of the leg movement, any clues regarding that aspect?

If I was in your situation, the first thing I would do is take it apart and check your chain and if it is correctly installed. I would also check your Idler pulley.

Hey Vasco. It sounds like your issue is the shock cord (bungee cord) has worn out, and is now loose. You have to pull the first bit to take out the slack before the elasticity of the cord begins to work. You can buy a replacement from Concept2, or you can tighten the cord by shortening it to get a little more life out of your old cord. Good luck!

Excellent guide, very helpful for servicing tips. I have a question though on the pm2 display. Whenever I switch it on it throws an error code and I have tried to reset it but it comes up with the code e 007 every time. Do you know what the code means?

I would recommend contacting the Concept2 service team regarding the monitor. They have been helpful to me in the past.

can I replace the censor without removing the flywheel?

Yes, you can. I just did it. The part that holds the sensor in, is a plastic push-pin fastener like used all over automobiles. Shown at 19:08. The part that looks like a screw is not a screw. It’s a plastic ribbed push pin that has a cross-cut slot in the head which makes you think it’s a screw. You can unscrew it all day, but it won’t screw out. (I know this). I used a dental pick type to tool pry the screw looking center pin out enough to get a hold of it with needle nose pliers. With the center pin out, the outer part comes out easily.
To get to it, I flipped the rower upside down, slid the long thin plastic bottom cover back 21”, and removed two bolts to pry back the bracket where the wire passed through to allow the plug on the wire to pass through. For the bungee that hinders access to the push pin I tied it up out of the way with a cord up above to the rower’s leg stand. That was it. Pretty easy. The angled dental pick and needle nose pliers where key. HTH

There should not be a problem that I am aware of did you get the correct sensor wire to go with the type of rower that you have? I know there are multiple sensor wires that go with different rower types. It might be worth a call to the concept 2 customer service team. I have had helpful interactions with them in the past.
