Easily one of the best scenes on Dynasty and certainly one of my favourites. The acting by both characters is superb, Adam is tender and chivalrous but with just a touch of the manic compulsiveness we're going to see so much of later. And Alexis's fragile vulnerability is a captivating revelation, she plays the hesitant conflict between wanting to believe Adam but also wanting to guard her emotions against colossal disappointment perfectly. The only flash of her signature venom is the characteristic raised eyebrow when Adam reveals he's already seen Blake and she enquires, with tortured indifference, as to what he said. This is Dynasty at it's very best from two of its most watchable characters. But where's the start of the scene???
the Adam character was written when Al Corely left the show and Steven was "presumed" dead. Of course, the writers then decided to bring Steven back... they did the same when Fallon "died"; they wrote the Amanda character. Only to change their minds again... the family kept growing! Gordon Thompson is amazing in his portrayal and he had great chemistry with the entire cast!
So they basically retconned in these extra kids to make up for the ones they lost. I wish they had established them all from the beginning so it makes sense to see them later. I just can't buy Adam and Amanda being the real kids when they did not exist before and were only mentioned when the series needed them to exist. Makes the continuity so jarring. And the way Adam just clicked to the family and Alexis for that matter to be her little side dog seemed so rushed like he was always there. Made sense for Steven to be that way since he was actually AROUND his mother longer.
@@devontehuntley6274Gordon WANTED to do the Reunion movie The Producers of the Soap Santa Barbara wouldn't give him time off from playing Mason Capwell.
@@maestroclassico5801 As I said, HAD HE BEEN AVAILABLE. I am well aware he wanted to do it, but his scheduling wouldn't allow it, so he couldn't do it.
Gordon Thomson (Adam) was about 37 years old at the time. I would rate him younger. Maybe 30 or 32. And as Adam Carrington, he's only supposed to be 28 here. He is really handsome, and my favourite actor on "Dynasty".
Every time I see this amazing scene, I feel Alexis isn't surprised by Adam's revelation. Her reaction is very cool ("what else did this woman tell you?" and "who else have you told this to?") like she's digging for info. When this first aired, I expected it would come out that Alexis had arranged Adam's kidnapping for some twisted reason. I wish they'd gone there after the poison paint arc.
@ForeverCarrington Alexis and Adam. It's like two vipers in a pit. You know what would be a great upload idea? The scene when Alexis has-to abdicate the Colby Co.-Denver Carrington "Merger"--and especially with the scene that follows at the elevator, between Alexis and Adam. Joan was brilliant the way she delivered that whole dialogue about "love and sacrifice".
Season 3, Episode 4 "The Will". Alexis Murell Carrington Colby was now a widow (from her second marriage to Cecil Colby) and one of the richest, most powerful women in the world in the series.
Alexis at a loss for words and vulnerable! A rare moment. DYNASTY and the COLBYS were the ultimate OTT excessive guilty pleasure! 💎 🏰 Divine Decadence 🏆. Never missed an episode. Now prime time is filled with violence and insipid game and so called reality shows. 🤮

TBf they referenced the fact Blake and Alexis had lost a child a number of times before Adam eventually came along and ultimately Adam would become one of the best written characters in the series.
Loved how Alexis always stuck up for and loved her children genuinley.
Alexis's biggest strongpoint in Dynasty was that of being a good and loving mother to her children
For such a melodramatic scene, it's very well written, and they both act the hell out of it.

I love Gordon Thompson as Adam Carrington.
Me too!!!!! Gordon was and is the best Adam Carrington. I always thought he was so cute!!!!!

Pity Al Corley never interacted with Gordon Thomson. It would have been interesting
@@patricknaughton2422 He could have in the reunion miniseries if Gordon was available, but Adam ended up being recast to someone else. What a shame.

Alexis loses a husband but gains a long lost son.
I can't resist rewatching this episode, both actors did a marvelous job. Just watch Alexis losing colour!😃❤️

At first she (like Blake) thought he was an imposter and she was digging for verification

This is before DNA tests
I thought Adam Alexander Carrington is the long lost son of Blake Alexander Carrington. They both have the exactly the same middle name.

I miss this show! I grew up on this and I loved Alexis. When Adam popped up, things got so INSANE once he arrived.
Is this Adam evil as the Adam in the dynasty remake?
I don’t know. I didn’t watch the reboot. But original Adam was pretty mean.
Why not a,DNA test
They didn’t have those commonly available back then.

Gordon Thompson looks 10 older than Joan Collins. It's my opinion!
I’ve always hated long lost children storylines. There was only Steven and Fallon PERIOD!

I hate 'long lost' storylines too, but Adam was such an awesome character and so well-played by Gordon Thompson that I make an exception for him.
