The way the refs and producers held back Athena was hilarious. Was like holding back a little kid running towards a stack of sweets they want to steal from the shop. 🤣🤣

Have been watching Statlander since her indie days. She is so strong and athletic but extremely underrated here in AEW . Hope she gets a huge push and has great matches and win championships
In my opinion she was the best performer in that Owen tournament. Sure she was last minute substitute but I felt like she desrved to win it all based on the momentum she managed to generate. Her performance was better than Soho or Baker really.
Underrated? Her gimmick, which SHE CHOSE, was an alien from the Andromeda galaxy that “boops” people on the nose in the middle of matches as if she doesn’t know the other person is trying fight her. She couldn’t be taken seriously because of this and giving her their championship would’ve delegitimized it. That’s what happens when you give someone that isn’t serious your belt. Like giving “hornswoggle” the light heavyweight championship. You can’t do that and then act like the belt is important. She was also in the best friends group for the almost a year and they aren’t very serious either. Anyway, she finally changed her gimmick. She will start getting a push now.
She's rated just well, stop it. Her problem is that she already got injured twice, you can't push someone who's injury prone. Hopefully she'll be healthy this time around, but stop throwing the term underrated for no reason whatsoever.

Reminder that Statlander should take the title from Jade
Athena's great and she can be put in any women's title picture, but Kris has done the work, she has earned it more. The baddies can influence Athena's match to have her save face, but Statlander vs Jade in an even hoss match, that's where the money is at.
Big props to Red Velvet again too, she took the heel turn in her stride and she's great at it, lots of great spots from both; the Fisherman's Buster, the spinning cutter, and the finish was great
They should make Athena run out and help Kris if the baddies try to interfere in title match to even the odds and allow Kris to win
Either way, Jade needs to drop the belt. She has potential but she needs to improve a lot.

Agree, I think that’s exactly how it’s going to be booked. Jade has oodles of star power but her matches have been meh. That is why Athena is there, to carry to one good winning match before she loses it Statlander. The Baddies help Jade beat Athena. That leads to a Six Woman match where Statlander gets the best of Jade, which leads to the Statlander push to win the title.

Because she has been underrated, but that is mostly because of her prior gimmick. I liked it but many fans didn’t take the wrestler that thinks she’s a Martian seriously. Now that she’s done with that, those fans are just enjoying her work. Her fanbase is growing.

Like he match with Marina Shafir, that was a hard win for Jade. I feel like she needs more of those first.

The next TBS Champion with no doubts should be Kris Statlander. She is the one closest to be as built and as strong as Jade Cargill. She also deserves it, pays her dues and is a fan favorite.

@Taylors Jones The only thing Jade is better at than Kris is looks. Everything else, Kris is better at, from wrestling, to ring IQ, to charisma.

Kris Statlander is a goddess and she is one of my favorites in AEW. She deserves to be champion because she has greatly improved after her ACL surgery. I am also hoping for the best for Leyla Hirsch too.

Anna Jay is so underwhelming. She always comes out and does something half assed, like hold a chair, hold a crutch, this time she went for her sleeper hold. Lmfao.

@@necroflowers2244 Anna is still the only person to get a truly good match out of Jade (the first time, not the most recent one), and she was great in the tag street fight with Tay, Bunny and Penelope Ford. She's usually solid on Dark, too. She's not mind-blowingly fantastic or anything, but she's perfectly adequate and capable of more than this poorly-booked run-in.
Statlander honestly looks strong enough to be world champ
I am not sure about that but TNT title as long she gets there before Wardlow, I think she could beat Scorpio Sky.
Kris Statlander is the total in-ring package - athletic, powerful, and works well with anyone. Kind of disappointed she won't be the one feuding with Jade, but still happy Athena is in AEW.
It's all part of the story (hopefully) leading to her eventually feud with Jade after her with Athena, and then dethrone her to new TBS Champion.
She needs to get better on the mic though. That appears to be her biggest weak point
The missing part of the package is personality/mic skills. She doesn't have to be a beast on the mic, but she needs to a least be passable. I find her personality non-existent, her bearing boring. But she's a great wrestler. Maybe she needs a manager.

I love that some of the female wrestlers change their gimmick or gave it a little layer to reinvent themselves by either turning heel or just becoming a new character

Velvet used to be super sloppy and now seeing her she has improved a lot and she is still improving and the way she is progressing she is going to be a beast inside the ring.
She has that selling ability which is always a great in ring ability to have.
She was NEVER "super sloppy." You people just hold her to a higher standard than certain other female wrestlers. Same with Jade. Y'all expect Jade to be on Serena's level with just over 30 matches under her belt, something you'd never expect Anna Jay to do. But okay.
I believed that Elastigirl was in the Incredibles and it happens to be Red Velvet, who is incredible

I think Red Velvet has huge potential to be a cornerstone of the womens division in a year or two. Hopefully AEW allows her to get some wins bigger wins down the line and be elevated somewhat being next to Jade. I would have her be Jade’s #2, and Kiera the #3.
Statlander definitely needs to be the next TBS champion. She’s so over and her time is coming. I love Athena too, but Statlander is red hot right now. Don’t let that slip

Hopefully this match will open the eyes and give some common sense as a clear justification, specially for who is in charge in AEW, that this is why the Women's division needs and deserves more TV time, more focus, more belief, more matches, more stories, more feuds, factions, team division, and also to increase the number of talented athletes for the division, more wrestlers! This match was absolutely awesome! They were very good, what a great chemistry between these professional wrestlers, flawless flow of the action, everything looked good! Kris Statlander definitely, in my opinion, deserves to be the one to defeat Thunder Rosa in the future and become the next AEW Women's World champion! Athena, next TBS champion, it's about time to start with the creation of the legacy of this title! Well done ladies! Congratulations Kris Statlander! She's always been stellar. Her match with Blair Davenport was likely her best match in the company and that was in December 2019. If they didn't see money in her then they probably still don't.
Problem is women not always deliver matches this good. Thunder vs Marina was bad for example.
@@victorarroyo5401 The problem for Marina she is still rookie for pro wrestling even though she had MMA background, and yet AEW lack a storyline for Thunder Rosa, they should have made it abit longer build, but nah another random challenger for Rosa, perhaps the next will be Toni Storm.

The storyline for Rosa is she is a fighting champion and is willing to fight anybody. Besides you can't do much stories with someone that can't cut long promos. AEW tried twice in the DON built and it was a disaster.
@@victorarroyo5401 Well it would be better if the storyline a bit longer, i know "the willing to fight anybody" is faster build storyline, but its just not good for Rosa, Her with Deeb was good but also lack of build.
This is the problem of AEW women's booking especially for baby face wrestler.

I’m starting to not like the Jade Cargill slander. Y’all give Jade way too much shit about her technical wrestling skills. Yes she ain’t Bryan Danielson in the ring but she’s gradually getting better, and she wants to improve. For all that Jade lacks in the ring she more than makes up for it with everything else that she brings to the table. People keep screaming make Kris the new champion, for what??? Now that she has all black ring gear and scowls all the time that suddenly makes her champion material??? Y’all care way too much about in ring skills. It don’t matter how good in the ring or athletic she is if her character is bland asf and she can’t cut a good promo. Regardless of how you feel about Jade you can’t deny that her title reign has been great. Only way I’m supporting Jade dropping the title to Kris is if she’s getting the women’s championship next.

I love how Statlanders’ demeanor has gotten more aggressive ever since she has noticeably been bulking up strength wise. Just look at her arms, getting cut!

The last time she had a title shot, she had the flu, and still took Nyla Rose to the limit. I remember the match and Statlander being too physically weak to perform a kip up. Yet she still wrestled that night.
Actually her last title match was at All Out 2021 but yes she needs to be the next TBS champ
I think jade needs a slightly longer, more intense fued first before losing it. Right now she has just been cleaning up

I think initially that was the plan but since Ember Moon/ Athena debuted in AEW all of those tentative plans are thrown up in the air. I thought that Kris Statlander winning the belt from Jade was the story but Ember Moon is on whole other level that I think it's better for her winning the belt against Jade Cargill than Kris Statlander.

This was a great match from start to finish. Statlander looked great as usual and shouldn't be too long before we see her beat jade for TBS. She deserves it! Red also was very good.
Loved the match, didn't like the post match at all. Anna Jay comes out after Statlander is down and tries to submit Kiera while Velvet is there. Very stupid.
Only thing I hated about it is how long Kris had to sell Jade's kick just so people who aren't as good as her can make a save
I must give Red Velvet her props she fought valiantly but Statlander is so big and strong it’s hard to overcome that. I can’t wait to see Jade get a chance to wrestle her.
