This one was obviously made for those with depression who feel completely forgotten and uncared for, that much I feel is undeniable. The part in the chorus about letting your skeleton's scream is more important for having been openly said then most might realize. It is basically a huge yet unseen insult towards a person to tell them to 'talk to me, but you still have to keep yourself controlled and contained', which usually translates to 'I will listen to you a little, but I don't really want to hear the full truth in all its ugliness'. And then for the listener to put such importance on the person suffering being utterly open for their own good (I'd rather hear your hell then see your funeral) is an enormous point of connection that folks with depression really don't hear enough. The first time I heard the couple of teasers that were released months ago literally made me cry, and I still can't hear the entire song with tearing up at some point because of how much I can relate through pain. Something like everything said in this song can truly and realistically be the difference between someone being around tomorrow and instead being forever lost to the darkness of despair. However, I would have to caution those who might want to help someone they know through their own troubling valley of shadows, mainly that unless you truly and absolutely wholeheartedly mean then don't even try at all, but in this case a half-effort could be the break that crumbles over the edge. Another person being so deeply concerned for someone else just for the sake of helping and nothing else often is the best saving grace one who feels cold and alone can receive.
I’ve been waiting to hear this song for a few months! After hearing a few teasers of this song, I knew it was gonna sound good & gonna be 1 of my favorite songs! I immediately heard this song as soon as it dropped, it sounds amazing & very well written! Definitely what I expected & added it to my Spotify playlist! The whole song & vocals are just absolutely amazing! This song is absolutely gonna be on the new album, it’s the first track & it’s absolutely the perfect choice to start the album! As a man with deep depression and anxiety this hit deep. I keep my pain suppressed and don’t know how to unload it and I think a man is the best person to open up to. A man knows another man’s pain I’ve been listening to this song on repeat and constantly singing it in my head one of the hands-down greatest songs ever written about this specific topic ❤

Icarus is already better than Scarecrow and ICU imo, I'm starting to feel how I did when I first discovered CS and they dropped new songs, that excitement and then actually being so satisfied by the end. There hasn't been a new song break into my top 10 in nearly 2 years and now we've had 2 in like a month. Everybody Hates You is still my favourite song off this album cos I relate hard whereas this is a song I wish I related to.
Also acknowledge how refreshing it is to have 2 songs off Icarus back-to-back without being broken up by a featured song with a completely different vibe
I completely disagree personally, it very well may beat Scarecrow for me so far with the released songs we’ve gotten but I don’t see how it can be objectively better than ICU 🤷🏻♂️

It had a lot of songs I consider good, or even great, but it didn't have any songs I considered God tier, which even Scarecrow managed a few. Icarus only dropped 6 songs so far, 2 of them are God tier, 3 are good/great and 1 I do not care for. May be a taste thing, they announced before the album they were going back to Down the Rabbit Hole/This Is Your Sign style and those are my favourite albums.
