Sweet and honest. It doesnt look at all stressful or competitive and so many weddings are only about the impact they will have on everyone who attends.
I absolutely loved the simplicity, and Holiness of the ceremony. Not as the world does weddings. I loved that a Christian wedding should be noticably different. The rest of the Body of Christ should take note of this❤️
It's so sweet you got to wear a crown. You know, in Orthodox or Eastern Christian weddings both the man & woman are crowned during the ceremony. Just sharing, "God grant you many happy years in peace & happiness."

I like the fact that they're different from modern weddings and they haven't spent lots of money on an extravagant dress that is only worn once as its ridiculous how much people spend nowadays as many get divorced anyway. I like what they did. Even before modern times poorer people especially (as richer people bought a specific wedding dress to show their wealth and social status) didn't wear special outfits only bought for their wedding, there wasn't the money to do so. People generally wore their Sunday best outfits for their wedding and rewear them afterwards so they always got their money's worth. Laura Ingalls in Little House on the Prairie did this as she wore her best outfit to her wedding but it was also worn many other times as well. Extravagance was never popular at weddings and I prefer this rather than materialistic modern weddings.
Yeah I also wished she got to wear something a little bit more special. Notably Chris is wearing a button down and dress pants. That’s a change from his jeans and T-shirt. Nothing crazy, just a bit singular for the day. However Laura is BEAMING with joy and that was the best and most important part.

Seriously, I'm a christian and got married in my parents back garden wearing second hand clothes, but the top was embroidered and the skirt silk, all rose gold colours. i find it literally disrespectful the bruderhof have girls marry jn their whatever workwear , as if any type of aesthetic beauty of clothing is in of itself a sin. A simple white cotton pretty blouse and skirt, costing practically zero could have made her look as beautiful as an angel.
Just wondering what religion the bruderhof practise as they had the ceremony in a Catholic Church ( the stations of The Cross on the surrounding walls.) It is very simple & dignified compared to some modern weddings where the focus is on the brides make up & entourage.

Your wedding is a gateway to a new wonderful part of your life so I would like to feel special on that day.

the rings are membership rings that they received when they officially joined the community - wedding rings are separate. She grew up in the community with her parents -- not sure of his background.
I somehow wondered into these Bruderhof videos. Laura appears to be a really inwardly beautiful person, an apparent result of a giving and loving Bruderhof community; however, I simply do not get why this and similar religious communities go out of their way to make the women look so dowdy. Strange, actually. Applying their belief in the human creation by god, he went out of his way to make young women beautiful and sexualy enticing, so why the cover up? One has to admit that this communal living offers a lot, not least, no worries about self-sufficiency; however, how would such a community last without the creativity and benefits derived from self-sufficiency and capitalism? With the benefits of capitalism, they live a minimalist life. Without those benefits, they would be living a very primitive life of struggle.

I'm not part of the community. I do wish on the very special once in a lifetime day, you wanted to wear a special dress. Isn't there anything in you at all that wanted to dress up and look not just pretty and wholesome but really breathtaking? Sorry but you can dress conservatively without looking frumpy. There are clothing patterns available that would lend to nicely cut and very modest styles. The ladies tops are like men’s shirts and the skirts like sacks. They are clearly skilled in making clothes. A few updated sewing patterns would make a huge difference and look more feminine without looking worldly.
It's not your place to say what somebody should have worn to their own wedding its not a fashion event so it's not important how stylish someone looks. If you go back in history especially poorer people didn't buy a special outfit for their wedding, they wore their Sunday best outfit at the most which was worn regularly anyway for church. Modern people seem to be obsessed with money and fashion. It's nice to see a different way of doing things that doesn't rely on superficial looks and materialism.

Why are they in a fancy church? I though Anabaptists were against that. I would think she would at least be able to wear a nicer dresser. The man was more dressed up than her. They’re very kind, good hearted people but things change and sometimes for the better. You can evaluate those changes and adapt according.
What a shame. Chris actually dressed in an outfit fit for a special occasion. Laura looked like she was off to hike in the woods. Certainly there is a compromise between sloppy and outlandish/gawdy that would be modest and simple yet look nice. Actually the lack of care taken for the appearance is more attention grabbing than if it would have been flashy.
She leaves many comments that disagree with her. Perhaps she filters a few but her comments certainly don't seem to be an echo chamber on most of her videos.
Appearances are often not the reality. Why are these women dressed to look so dower? Is the community ruled by men?! The guys attire is casual; why are these women dressed down for goodness sake. A special occasion wedding dress would have felt wonderful I'm sure ... and I don't mean glitzy etc, just a mans shirt and awful skirt! What are they trying to prove? Most women would like a dress of some kind to be married in surely? I know its deemed wrong to judge, I'm simply wondering why all the women are dressed to look so old ... But please take this seriously, you should have a special wedding dress for marriage, that need not be costly, but it should be special as bridal dress.A modest while gown will be fine. @@Bruderhof There's a difference between "simple" & "nothing special" even if your short sleeve shirt & skirt were any SOLID, pale color (other than gray) versus looking like "just another day on the farm look." Why are they in a fancy church? I though Anabaptists were against that. I would think she would at least be able to wear a nicer dresser. The man was more dressed up than her. They’re very kind, good hearted people but things change and sometimes for the better. You can evaluate those changes and adapt according.

What a shame. Chris actually dressed in an outfit fit for a special occasion. Laura looked like she was off to hike in the woods. Certainly there is a compromise between sloppy and outlandish/gawdy that would be modest and simple yet look nice. Actually the lack of care taken for the appearance is more attention grabbing than if it would have been flashy.

Appearances are often not the reality. Why are these women dressed to look so dower? Is the community ruled by men?! The guys attire is casual; why are these women dressed down for goodness sake. A special occasion wedding dress would have felt wonderful I'm sure ... and I don't mean glitzy etc, just a mans shirt and awful skirt! What are they trying to prove? Most women would like a dress of some kind to be married in surely? I know its deemed wrong to judge, I'm simply wondering why all the women are dressed to look so old ...
Even our beautiful Mother Earth basks in radiant colours ...

Very wonderful to be wedded with the grandparents and parents together as an example!!! But please take this seriously, you should have a special wedding dress for marriage, that need not be costly, but it should be special as bridal dress.A modest while gown will be fine. And for groom too , Remember even Jesus bride has a special marriage dress!
Jaison - I like what you have to say about Jesus' bride having a special dress - but it isn't appropriate for you to tell a woman what she "should" have done on her wedding day. I doubt you know them personally.
I agree. Her dress was "inappropriate" & did not "reflect" anything "special" about such an important life event.
